Re: Training Camp: Updates, notes, discussion
I'd argue Burton is somewhere in the top 15 of TEs, maybe in the #8-#12 range, but he's at least giving starter-caliber play

Re: The TE Position -- What are we doing?
I am holding out hope that the Sowell project works. I love stories like that. Define "works" -- I think we're already there. He's that 4th TE/blocking TE who is still going to run routes to keep people honest and will catch a ball here or there. In a pinch, he could be an emergency linem...

Re: The TE Position -- What are we doing?
Burton will be here for awhile the contract dictates it. Sowell will make it, he apparently solo blocked Mack, so even with the lost weight he still is capable of solo blocks. He's to versatile to not make the team. If Shaheen cannot stay healthy, he'll make the team Pace isn't one to give up on ea...

Re: How badly will Chicago miss Amos and Callahan?
I think we'll miss Callahan, but have hope that Shelley will emerge quickly. But even in the likely event that we're going with Skrine, it won't be terribly bad. With Amos being replaced by Ha Ha, that's a style change with plus and minus. Ha Ha isn't the physical force or tacker that Amos was. Tha...

Pro Football Focus graded Burton the best overall run-blocking among tight ends in 2018. 1. Trey Burton, Chicago Bears Burton caught 54-of-73 targets for 569 yards and six touchdowns in his first year with the Bears, but his best efforts were in the run game. Leonard Floyd has been fairly disappointing, I guess, but I don't feel like he's on a downward trend. He feels like one of those guys that has so much talent and skill, but sometimes needs the right moment to burst out. I have a feeling he'll really excel under Pagano, and be used as a coverage uti...

I’m just resigning myself to the fact that Wims is a goner. Probably Toliver and Nall too. Rappaport is reporting it’s worth over 8 million per year. If it’s 8, it’s not terrible. Maybe a hair over what he’s worth these days, but with the cap rising it will be reasonable by year 2 or 3. https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/1089276316187279360?s=20 [URL][https://twitter.com/AaronLemingNFL/...

Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter And the Bears’ attempts to replace kicker Cody Parkey officially are underway: Chicago is scheduled to work out former Jets kicker Nick Folk today, per source. Agreed. I want him to "twist his ankle" in practice so he doesn't suit up for the game. I worry that people are going to t-off on him and he won't have the bears oline to protect himThe Marshall Plan wrote:Any chance he can skip this game? I appreciate the selection, but its an unnecessary risk.

Re: Sign Leonard Floyd to 5th year option?
Definitely exercise the 5th year option, but the goal should be to get Floyd signed to a long term extension before the 2019 season. The Bears cannot replace Floyd's athleticism and versatility, and he really is the perfect complement to Mack. My goal actually would be to get Floyd to sign an exten...

Some of these qbs wanting to break the bank for the detriment of the team, I really don't get it. I credit Brady for keeping his salary modest (by today's standards) so other players can be signed. I think Rodger's coin will fuck that team over. It takes a team to win. While Brees is getting his, t...

The 2019 draft class hasn't really excited me. At this point it appears to be a weaker class. You mean last year’s draft? Kind of odd to say given we got what appears to be a plus starting MLB, a plus starting interior offensive lineman, at a minimum a top 3 receiver, and Nichols in the 5th who has...
