At this point if Poles had drafted another QB in the forth I wouldn't questioned it.
It just so hard to get used to a Bears GM that is really good at his job.
But I happy to keep working at it.

Re: R1 P1: Caleb Williams, QB - USC
Skill players: Potential league-best WR trio of Keenan Allen, D.J. Moore and Rome Odunze, together with pass-catching RB D'Andre Swift and TE Cole Kmet make up an elite group. | Grade: 5/6. Who got the 6/6 JJ I assume? Jefferson is better than DJ but other than that, I give us the edge at WR 2 and ...

Re: R1 P1: Caleb Williams, QB - USC
From the Athletic: Let's do a deep dive on the six 2024 first round QBs, rating their offensive line, weapons, offensive system, mechanics, reported work ethic (yes, of course that's tricky, stick around) and short-term situation to estimate their outlook. The historic odds of a Top-10 QB disappoint...

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GLUcjcQXcAAMV8w?format=jpg&name=900x900 Not quite up to Poles' normal RAS standard, but I'd imagine a bit of work in the gym will boost it up. it's probably the reason he lasted as long as he did. Crosby, who he is sometimes compared to, had a 9.6 RAS. His agility sc...

Every mock draft where Rome went 9, I took this guy in the third. Awesome move, awesome pick. The Beast: STRENGTHS: Long-limbed, rangy athlete with room to pack on more muscle … uses elongated strides to quickly cover ground as a pass rusher or o ut in space on perimeter plays … sprints downhill to ...

Re: R4 P122: Tory Taylor, P - Iowa
Taylor will likely hear his name called on the third day of the draft. What will give him an edge in my opinion is the ability to kick in cold, wet and windy conditions. “It’s funny, I watched a few of the SEC games and they all play in like 85 degree weather with not a breath of wind,” Taylor said...

Re: R1 P9: Rome Odunze, WR - Washington
Did Atlanta shocking the world by taking Penix help the Bears get Odunze? With Alt off the board the Titans still went OL with their pick. The combination of the two allowed Odunze to slip down to the Bears, though I wonder if Poles was slightly swayed by the feeding frenzy on offense. Regardless, ...

Re: Day 2
The top edge or center on the board.
An edge like Booker who can at least contribute as a situational rusher is probably the greatest need, but if there is a center they believe can start this year then grab him.

Rome is the true X that Poles has been chasing since he got here (pun somewhat intended).
Three yards and a cloud of dust becomes 30 yards and 6.

He seems a little too programmed when being interviewed.
But he is unflappable with the football in his hands and that is what matters.

Re: R1 P9: Rome Odunze, WR - Washington
Not only the BPA at #9 but also a kid that was ranked as high as #6 overall. Five years (with option) of team control over both a QB and a top WR under rookie contracts. QB and WR are the two highest paid positions in the NFL and Poles provided a "rent controlled" passing duo that should ...

Re: Is It Too Soon For Thoughts On Pick #9?
I agree that MHJr is the best bet of the bunch. WR3 in this draft, not so much. And yet scouts and analysts much smarter and more experienced than you or I have them graded nearly the same and all three are ranked within the top six picks. You're trying to back a position that in this draft with th...

Re: Is It Too Soon For Thoughts On Pick #9?
I am going out on a limb here saying I don't think they will draft Alt. First, they don't really need a LT and Second Alt appears to be a finesse technician (much like last years ND favorite Peter Skoronski). I think Poles likes tough guys who don't count a man blocked until he is pancaked, and I do...

Got any Penix poems? :D Hm, tricky. This one would work better if he pronounced his name pee-nix rather than pen-nix... The draft has a player called Penix Who could be a team’s QB fix It won’t be the Bears And with ACL tears Much will depend on his knee fix There once was a QB named Penix Whose na...

Re: Different trade scenario
If one of the "big three" WR's are there, I think we take him at 9. Rome is a true X, which we don't currently have. The NFL draft site compares him to Larry Fitzgerald. He can be productive while he is learning and creating a bond with Williams. If those guys are gone, the greatest need i...

For one of the first times since Jim Finks ran the Draft, I have faith in the person who is making the decisions. So I'm excited and super curious at what he's going to do at 9. Boy, is this spot on. We finally have a real GM backed up by a real CEO and team president. That makes all the difference...

Re: Is It Too Soon For Thoughts On Pick #9?
Not sure about the lack of love for Odunze. He is a prototype X who led the nation in receiving yards and had an absurd 75% contested catch rate ( Harrison and Nabors were both in the 40's) . The Bleacher report summed it up pretty well: Odunze is a quarterback's best friend. He's a reliable route-r...

Worst case: the top 3 WRs and Alt are taken along with 4 QBs by the time the Bears pick. What then? Maybe trade to the 12 to 14 range for a team looking for the top CB, an OT, or someone wanting to roll the dice on Nix/Penix and get another 3rd? Trade down to 16 to 19 and get a 2nd? I'm in the mino...

The last time we had two high first round draft picks? Ummm, Butkus and Sayers? Unfortunately getting them did not result in championships as neither played QB. DIck Butkus came close to QB during his time playing Center for the Illini, but by the time he hit the NFL they didn't have players play b...

The past 2 years people have said we need to draft this position! There's a hole on the roster. Poles let the draft play out not selecting OL high his first year and dline his second. He then signed a high priced, 1 year vet around camp both years for those spots. Poles can and will have 0 issues n...

Poles has divided the scouting department into Team Ol, Team WR, and Team DE. Each team will make its case for taking one of their guys at #9. So, which team are you on and who's your guy? I'm picking Team WR and making the case for Rome Odunze. I doubt Nabers and Harrison make it to #9. Odunze is ...
