Re: Dinner with Williams and his teammates

Don't believe it counts although the Bears used it to evaluate how he interacted with his teammates. Poles said he was very impressed by Williams not using his phone all through dinner.

Re: Bears trade 4th rd pick to Chargers for WR Keenan Allen

Allen turned down a pay cut. He turned down a multi-year extension with the Chargers; it is thought that this is because he didn't like the salary level he would had under it. So it is possible that he would accept an extension but is looking for more than the Bears will be willing to pay. I'd hold...

Re: Bears Big Board at current slots

Chop Robinson doesn't meet Poles' usual standards for size in a DE but his RAS is insane (9.53). In a 2nd or 3rd round, Chris Braswell from Alabama. Like Robinson, he's a buzz saw trying to get to the QB. His teammate Adisa Isaac is also a kid who may fit as DE in a rotation. The guy I would love t...

Re: Bears Big Board at current slots

So the Jahns and Fishbain exercise in the #9 pick thread gave me a good idea to kill some time with some talk other than CW13. Based off Poles' comments yesterday it seems the team is targeting OL, DL, and WR in addition to QB. Assuming the Bears do not trade I am going to list the top 2 guys avail...

Re: Bears Big Board at current slots

With Poles, follow the RAS. He likes highly athletic guys. It has been previously said he doesn't value WR as a position but Flus indicated in an interview Monday that the Bears will look at guys at #9 who will help a rookie QB (OT, WR, possibly Bowers) or affect the other team's QB. The Bears won't...

I know the writer is evaluating rookies based on their college performances and projecting that talent to the pros. But it's like comparing apples to oranges, not valid comparing pros to undrafted rookies.

The NFL has revised the emergency QB rule which it implemented in '23 following the 49ers losing both QBs in the '22 championship game. Teams will now be permitted to, in addition to the two standard elevations from the practice squad each week, can elevate a quarterback to serve as the emergency qu...

While the Bears plans for the #1 pick are big news at the owners meetings, so is their new stadium plans. Owners seem to prefer that the Bears stay within Chicago city limits. They believe the team will also do better economically doing so. Warren is saying that AH isn't out if the running but on th...

Wondered about that also but he's a solid add. Yea I agree, I’m happy to have him and think he makes us better. My granny, if she was still alive, would have been a better tackler than Eddie. Loved him his first two years, I don't know if he got snakebitten or what to start avoiding a lot of contact.

Poles said his son has Fields' jersey. I have to put some blame on Poles, he says the team didn't build around Fields in Poles' first year, he had to clean up the salary cap, players not wanted any longer, etc. but he made no efforts to bring in WRs and OL in the draft except a rookie OT in the 5th ...

Bears send 1-9 to Philly for 1-22, their 2nd, and Reddick. Not proposing this, an idea from a nonconfirmed source. Maybe worth exploring if Philly ate some salary also.

I agree about such grades being pretty irrelevant, just like draft grades immediately after it. Results are what counts and obviously they won't be known until the end of the '24 season. But grades like this are of interest to some. ESPN dinged Poles for the Byard signing. Several writers noted tha...

4 guards making $20+M. 10 guards making $15M - $$19M +. Maybe time to pull a Bellichick and trade him high if they can't sign him for a "reasonable" amount. His injury history may hurt his trade value.

As the OP said, a dversion during a slow period. Cutler's an object lesson in one with seemingly all the talent but whiplashed by coaching changes and an incredibly bad decision maker on the field.

Harbaugh is crazy. I'm half surprised they didn't trade Herbert - the fit with him and Roman seems odd to me. Harbaugh is like Parcells/Darth Vader in that he wants "his guys", and it's his personnel moves that will ultimately do him in IMO. He likes his "try hard guys" who will...

The Bears could draft both a C and a G and it would be beneficial. Zak Zinter, G, Michigan, suffered a season-ending injury late in the year and probably will be available in the 4th or possibly 5th rounds; he could be a target if the Bears get more picks. Sit him for a red-shirt year. Unless the Be...

I don't know if the Bears could get to #4 or even #5 by offering 1-9, their 3rd rounder, and a 2025 2nd. One of those teams is going to ask Minny for both if its 1st rounders plus change.

It really is, and makes Poles long view, build through the draft plan so powerful. I'm SOOOOO glad we have Poles, he's building this franchise the right way.
