Re: Tampering Cases May Be Decided Before the Draft

And the Eagles are also in hot water with Saquan Barkley. So much smoke on this .... I've read everything from the Vikings/Falcons swap R1s (then you're punishing other teams who did nothing wrong) to turn the Falcons #8 into #32 to have them a lose a 3rd and a 5th. I do think it will happen before...

RIP Dickey Betts. Lucky enough to see him with the Allman Brothers in the mid to late 90s. https://youtu.be/rlv4b6YWlK8?si=edqmGHitVrZa7t7X Really good guitarist, bad alcohol problem, don't know if he was ever able to kick it. Great to have seen them at all but back when they started out. Their 'Li...

Tampering Cases May Be Decided Before the Draft

Adam Schefter is reporting that the tampering case against the Falcons may he decided before the draft. He doesn't think any decision will involve the loss of a draft pick, especially a 1st rounder. However, he believes it possible that the Falcons draft pick will be moved from 8 to the end of the 1...

Re: Caleb Williams News and Rumor thread

Stats don't lie. In 2023, despite USC's less than stellar OL, Williams had a 73% completion rate from the pocket. For those who say he can't play in a structure, he left the pocket on only 3% of his dropbacks.

Pushed for Dent to be drafted. During his entire Bears career, they drafted 5 HOFers: Walter, Hampton, Dent, Singletary, and Covert. They also signed McMichael as a FA. A golden era for the team. RIP. I'm truly hoping we see another era like that under Poles and Cunningham. From '84 through '91, th...

Re: Is It Too Soon For Thoughts On Pick #9?

If the Bears trade down from #9 (from SM): To between 12 and 15: 3rd round pick expected Possible targets: Brian Thomas, Olu Fashanu, JC Latham, Laiatu Latu, Byron Murphy. I'd add Brock Bowers to the list To between 16 and 20: 2nd round pick expeted Xavier Worthy, Troy Fautanu, Tyler Guyton (not so ...

Williams says he wants to play for 20 years, win more championships than Brady, and have a better rookie season than Stroud. Gotta love his goals:

ESPN put out a mock with trades for all 1st round picks. It was meant tongue-in-cheek, I guess the pre-draft has been beat to death for original things to write about:

Ranking the Top 10 Bears Drafts

The Bears top rated draft, of '65, which brought 2 HOFers, Sayers and Butkus, didn't translate to much team success. But others drafts brought in pieces which did, showing the wisdom in building through the draft: https://beargoggleson.com/posts/power-ranking-the-top-10-draft-classes-in-chicago-bear...

Random question to all of you Draft geeks out there. Who is the one player, if taken unexpectedly high, could shake up the entire first round? McCarthy? Verse? Latham? Or conversely, who do you see falling out of the top 10, that everyone has pegged there, and why? McCarthy slipping out of the top ...

Let's see, Tunsil smoking dope with a gas mask on dropped him to 13 so maybe a joint would drop him to 9 :-D

Possibly trade to 7 if Nabers and/or Odunzeare still available to keep any poachers at bay. But the Bears may sit tight, take Bowers if they're both gone.

Brad Biggs did his v3.0 mock with the Bears amazingly passing on Naber, Odunze, and Alt to trade down w/Denver for a 3rd and they take Washington OT Troy Fautanu. FWIW Alt, Fuaga, and Fautanu all carry a nearly identical NFL Post Combine Grade. Don't think he's a Tackle Fautanu can play tackle in t...

The NIL policy took effect in 2021. 128 underclassmen entered the draft following that season followed by 100 and 82 in succeeding ones. There are 58 in this year's draft. NIL is the cited as the reason for most of the guys althoughobviously not all as some are still entering the draft. It is possib...

Don't see him dropping lower than 19, the Rams need a Donald replacement. If the Bears trade down, it will come down to him, Murphy, Latu, Verse, Thomas, or an OT.

Success Rate by Position, 1st Round Picks

Don't know why it didn't include QBs and WRs but the article was slanted to OL. Guys who became consistent starters: Historically over all NFL history, 83% of OL, 70% of LBs, 67% of TEs, and 58% of RBs and DL meet this criteria. I thought RBs drafted in the 1st would become automatic starters. From ...

Man you'd have to be absolutely in love with him and consider him to be a tier or two above Nabers and Odunze. That being said, if you want to move up to 5 you're likely looking at giving up next year's Carolina 2nd and maybe a 3rd or 4th this year. Pretty steep -- but if you think he's a HOF mater...

4 teams have not had a QB pass for 30 TDs in the 21 century:

Miami (last time Marino in 1994)
Browns (last time Sipes in 1980)
Commandos (last time Jurgenson 1967)
Bears (never had one)

Here's hoping Williams breaks the streak

First 8 picks go:
QB
QB
QB
Harrison
QB (Minny trades with the Chargers)
Nabers
Odunze (Jets trade with Titans)
Turner

So Alt is sitting there as is Bowers, Fuaga, Verse, and Latu. What are you going to do? I say take Alt much as Bowers is tempting.10 year rocks at both tackles.

Steve Smith, the perennial All Pro and future HOFer, evaluated the top 3 WRs. He says Odunze is talented but didn't have to fight for the ball and win outside overly much playing against weak Pac 12 defenses. He does say this is a skill which can be learned. Haven't read anything from him regarding ...
