Re: Bud Grant RIP

Bud and Marv Levy are the only 2 guys to coach teams to championships in the CFL and the NFL. Although both have the dubious distinction of losing the Super Bowl 4 times.

Re: Ravens and Lamar Jackson Contract Talks

The Jets are in a win-now mode. But I'd take Jackson, give up the 13th this year and try to talk the Ravens into a lower pick next year and have a QB for another 10 or so year. Depending, of course, on reaching a contract with Jackson before the trade.

Re: The DJ Moore Thread

D.J. started out more of a slot guy but Carolina began using him deeper over the years. I figure Getsy will put him in the X and Mooney or a draft pick will be put in the slot: https://beargoggleson.com/posts/chicago-bears-d-j-moore-perfect-justin-fields It should be noted that he was also used out ...

Re: 2023 Free Agency News / Rumors / Transactions

After much reading and teeth gnashing, I've finally come to the conclusion that Poles is quietly building this team mainly thru the draft, not free agency. We will see improvement in '23. Perhaps a playoff run. But Poles will continue in the same vein in this manner in adding guys in '24, '25, etc....

Haven't seen this type of thread in awhile. In the "what makes you a Bears fan" type of thinking, what are your top 5 favorite Bears memories? Be they single plays, whole games, or whatever. 5. Fog Bowl vs Eagles. That was the wildest game I've ever watched on live TV. 4. 1991 season: Fir...

Not in any particular order: Being in the stands the game in which Sweetness set the single game rushing record; 1968 - Dad scored Bears tickets to the 49ers game (got them from a guy who couldn't use them; otherwise tickets were not obtainable); Bears won at Wrigley Field, Sayers ran a return back ...

Jumpin' Jesus, another John Randle clone coming out of college who didn't exactly pan out like Randle? 14.5 sacks in 4 years, not exactly that pressure-the-QB guy the team needs. He fits the age criteria, he fits the 'hopefully entering more productive stage of his career' phase. Why do I get the fe...

Re: Explain the Skoronski love to me please

Two good articles on Ski. The author of the first thinks he'd be an excellent LG and RT. Teams typically don't guys like at #9. I'm assuming at this time that Davis starts at LG and Jenkins at RG and stick a draft pick at RT. Perhaps if they trade down, pick up a higher 2nd rounder, use that 1st rou...

Re: Last to First?

If they draft a RT or Jenkins can hold down the job. If they draft a C or Patrick actually does well. If they add a DE who can get after the QB (Ngakoue even though he's a sieve against the run). If they draft a 3T. 8 wins would be a seismic improvement. 10 wins would be amazing and definitely get t...

Don't remember a lot of pressure by Georgia on Stroud. None by Carter and can't remember any by Nolan Smith. So Wypler, Johnson, etc. did their jobs.

Re: Nobody cares about Corners, but...

Because Poles didn't fill all the DL holes (don't know if realistically could have), it seems like it's more of a need in the draft. 3T, DE along with RT. One of those 3 picks at 54, 61, and 64 might see a CB. But, of course, Poles knows a bit better than me what he thinks would benefit the team so...

Re: Update: Jets/Packers finalizing deal for Rodgers

They are sharp guys. I'm sure LaFleur will modify the offense to address Love essentially being a newbie, simpliefied. They also lack talent - I am optimistic this ends badly Magically the 20+ year "conspiracy" will end too - odd Erin could bring out the talent in his WRs. We'll see if Lo...

I can't believe when I looked there isn't even a thread about CBs for this draft. Not really. The success rate for QBs in the league isn't high, probably less than 50%. Here's hoping (Davis) Love lives down to that. I guess it mostly boils down to me trusting Gutekunst and LaFleur more than you do... :D They are sharp guys. I'm sure LaFleur will modify the offense to address Lov...

It's hard to predict picks in round 2 without knowing who the team takes in round #1. Very raw coming out, hardly any playing time in the pros. The odds are high that his first year at least is going to be bumpy and hopefully it lasts. That would be nice, I'll give you that.
