Re: Caleb Williams Mega-Thread
So much for the high-powered modern offense this year. The Bears average 288.5 yards per game, the fewest in the NFL and 182.7 passing yards per game, the third-fewest in the league. They are 22nd in scoring at 19.5 ppg. 24th in rushing at 105.8 ypg. The Bears also rank in the bottom 1/3 in defense....

How about just f*ing accepting that the team does much better when he gets 7 to 10 targets per game?

Re: Tankathon 2024
There are currently 8 teams with worse records than the Bears. Last year, a 4-13 record would have been #2 or #3 but I doubt it will be that high this year. I could see the Bears losing out unless the Pack has locked up their playoff spot by the final game and rests every starter. Teams ahead of the...

Re: Update: Bill Belichick named HC of North Carolina football
He blasted the NFL on his way out the door, saying it wasn't to his liking any more. Maybe it has something to do with what Rusty says, how bad his last few years in NE were sans Brady and then teams not jumping all over his availability last spring.

Cowboys are #1 at %10.1 billion. Surprisingly (to me), the Golden State Warriors are #2 at $8.8 billion. NFL teams dominate the top except for Real Madrid and Manchester United at #13 and #14. The Bears come in at #15, $6.4 billion. I would think this jumps signifcantly after they build their own st...

FWIW - Troy Aikman was on 670 with Spiegel and Wannstedt and they asked him about the Bears coaching search. He said that occasionally owners or GMs will call and ask him about their search and he always recommends that those teams hire an offensive guy who calls his own plays. He said that Offensi...

The Bears and taxing entities for AH have reached agreement on taxes for the next 3 years. However, it appears that the Bears are still pushing for the lakefront stadium while still considering the hospital site. If they want to play in a new stadium within our lifetimes, the team needs to make a d...

Belichick apparently wanted the Bears job but didn't think they would be interested in him, preferring an offensive minded coach.

Regardless of defensive scheme, if a Mason Graham is there, the Bears have to take him. If Will Campbell is there also, though, going to be a tough decision. If the Bears take him, maybe they can move Kiran inside, sign Trey Smith at guard, draft a center, and voila, new OL.

Re: You are George McCaskey - do you have the balls for a clean start?
Read a depressing article the other day about all the guys the Bears passed on to hire their head coaches. Bears. Whatever is going on between Warren and Poles, it's got to be coloring perceptions of the organization and the desire of potential head coaching candidates. What guarantees can the Bears...

FWIW - The Athletic Football podcast on coaches and openings talked a little about the Bear's OL. They brought up the 2022 Indianapolis Colts OL as an example of a line that looked absolutely terrible - but saw a dramatic turnaround when a new coaching staff and scheme were brought in. The Bears ha...

Belichick is out. After the Bears last 2 games of historically bad first half offenses, Thomas Brown may have coached himself out of consideration for the permanent job.

Re: Bears Coaching Search - 2025
Arthur Smith is a good OC who didn't cut it as a HC, like many others. Pederson is just treading water in Jacksonville. If he couldn't cut it there with a QB, WRs, and a free spending owner, he won't be a Bears savior. McCarthy is kind of the same. Maybe Vrabel. He never even made it to the Big Danc...

While I'm believing this occurred, there are only 32 such jobs in the world. Poles isn't leaving the Bears' job for this reason. If anything, I can see them extending his contract a few years to run the same time period as the new HC.

In a draft considered deep at WR with 7 taken in the first round and 11 in the top 52, here's how the rookies compare with 4 weeks of the season to go: #4 Marvin Harrison Jr (Cardinals) 13 games, 45 receptions on 86 targets (50.4%) for 655 yards (14.6 ypr) and 7 TD #6 Malik Nabers (Giants) 11 games...

Harlon Hill (1956) had 1128 yards receiving with 11 TDs. With yesterday's game, Rome Odunze is sixth among receivers with 585 yards, trailing Darnell Moody's 631 (2020) for 5th. Da' Coach has the most TDs with 12. Matt Forte has the highest number of receptions. I doubt Odunze hits 1000 yards but 80...

Having a 'dead man walking GM' is not conducive to hiring a HC. So, what does the team do? Fire Poles and start over completely like 3 years ago and have done way too much over the past few decades?
