Re: R3 P75: Kiran Amegadjie, OT - Yale
Before we crown his ass for the starting LT next year, let's remember he was playing against Ivy League talent. I seem to recall another promising Bears OL from the Ivy League ... what was his name? Ah yes - Dieter Eiselen, now with the Texans. Remember how excited some of us were? - https://i.makea...

Thanks for the tweet. Lauren is my favorite interviewer, especially when she's snugly dressed.
For those who missed it, Williams explained his total apparel and showed parts of his wardrobe not viewed on the NFL feed.

Re: R1 P9: Rome Odunze, WR - Washington
Did Atlanta shocking the world by taking Penix help the Bears get Odunze? With Alt off the board the Titans still went OL with their pick. The combination of the two allowed Odunze to slip down to the Bears, though I wonder if Poles was slightly swayed by the feeding frenzy on offense. Regardless, f...

I'm not liking that mock above. Good Bad Ugly The Good: Minny moving up for McCarthy will cost them dearly in the next few years. The Bad: All three WR's are gone before the Bears pick. The Ugly: Murphy?! No. If Turner is on the board then you have to take him or another edge that Poles has highly r...

Both Bagent and Williams started out around the DC area, though Bagent was a little further out from DC. It will be interesting to see if the national night games (Thurs/Sun/Mon) pick up a feature on the Bears young QB's and their relationship.
The Bagent story keeps getting better and better.

“My guy” is Tory Taylor. My obsession with punters continues…. Well, yeah, what's not to like? "Taylor was a three-time All-American and in his final season was a unanimous first-team All-American and won the Ray Guy Award for the nation's best punter. He also holds the Big Ten Conference reco...

Re: Bears v Cardinals, October 2006 on NFL Network right now
I've been pimping this game for years here, one of my favorites to rewatch. If you don't want to wait for it on the NFL channel you can get the whole game on yootoob. The last time I watched it was about two years ago when my dad visited me. We both groaned and cheered as if we were watching it for ...

I know it's tough to tell much from photos... but some things stood out. 1 - The offensive linemen look lean. Especially Darnell Wright and Larry Borom. 2 - Matt Pryor is a huge human being 3 - Gervon Dexter looks to be in phenomenal shape 4 - Jack Sanborn looks like he's put on weight 5 - Dexter a...

If someone is available at #9 that another team is willing to pay a high price (and Poles does not sell cheap), then will that player turn out to be someone the Bears could have really used and gone on to be Pro-Bowl worthy? Poles did well to find near-elite talent with Sweat and DJ Moore, but they ...

The last time we had two high first round draft picks? Ummm, Butkus and Sayers? Unfortunately getting them did not result in championships as neither played QB. DIck Butkus came close to QB during his time playing Center for the Illini, but by the time he hit the NFL they didn't have players play bo...

Seems like they are loading up this year to make a run rather than building for one more year. I'm curious to see if the gamble pays off, though we won't be able to see the long-term results for a few years.

Let's see. Atlanta - they might address the QB spot in the draft this year, so they could be out of the running. Washington - IS addressing the QB spot at #2, so I don't see them doubling down next year. Dallas - slim chance. The front office freaking LOVE Dax, he isn't going anywhere. Baltimore - ...

I'm not liking a game on Christmas day, but I suppose if it's a night game then that would be a little better. I don't like the game on Christmas as it does not allow families for the players on each team to be together. Then again, most games are on Sunday. I really don't like a Wednesday game that...

Re: IOL thoughts
In Poles we trust. Our of all the positional groups he should have the best handle on the future of the OL and how he wants to structure it. He took a shotgun approach his first year, getting a bunch of low round picks and finding one keeper/starter. I don't know if that will work again as for now h...

Re: 2024 NFL Free Agency chatter, there will be punch and pie
I think part of the fatigue we're feeling is this agonizing over the QB situation (again) at the end of the season, where many put their hopes in Fields yet we didn't know what would happen to him. Now we have to explain to our football buddies what we think about it and are still left in limbo over...

Re: Is It Too Soon For Thoughts On Pick #9?
Many here say "I want X player but if the Bears don't get it then trade down", but who is willing to dance with Poles and pay what Poles demands? The #9 pick needs to be a playmaker, and as the Bears drop down the board then their chances decrease in finding a good playmaker. Minny is two ...

I can't imagine the physical punishment involved in the trenches between an OL and DL. When an OL gameplans for someone like Donald, then he's going to get plenty of suspect hits and dirty tricks. Re: Justin Fields traded to Pittsburgh for conditional pick
Like Judge Ark, a little late to the party, or "viewing". Like others have said, the NFL evaluated Fields and didn't think he was worthy of gambling on him being a starter. The 5th year money scared some teams away. I had my doubts about his decision making. A QB can have all the physical ...

Someone needs to get ahold of IE. I need him to prop up Velus Jones so that I can feel better about the Bears not having any receivers. Coach Wannsteadt (IE): Awwwp, VJJ will be foin. Re: Bears trade 4th rd pick to Chargers for WR Keenan Allen
Tyler Scott was a 4th rd pick, and Poles will want to give him time to prove himself. I believe they still need a big-body receiver and will draft one, but it's difficult to tell which pick they'll use for it as he'll probably use a first round pick on a pass rusher DE.

Wasn't familiar with Rondale Moore so I looked up his stats: 5'7" 180 lbs averaged 400 yds/season for three years. The Bears need bigger receivers so Moore probably was not on Poles' radar. That and there is already somebody else on the team catching passes named Moore.

Wasn't Nate Davis the "best" FA OG that Poles could find? It seems like this year there are less desperate FA moves to fill gaps in the roster. Yes, WR and DE are still a concern, but not to the point of "Davis desperation". Glad to see them get some more vet help at Center. Pole...

Arik Armstead looks interesting but I'm not sure about the baggage he'd be bringing. He signed a 5 yr $85M ($40M guaranteed) deal in 2020, though it's not clear how much SF is on the hook for any other payments as he's been designated a post June 1st release. He started out as a DE but the last two ...

Yeah, looks like a replacement for Cole, and I'm happy with that as I was not a Cole fan.
With Ngakoue unsigned, they needed Ogbongbemiga to replace his roster spot for announcers-tripping-over-tongue player.

I'm a little worried about (ouch) on the WR corps. Reminds me of '22, when Poles scraped up Pettis/Pringle to fill out the WR corps. Mooney got hurt, followed by a couple of others, so that Poles got a little desperate and reached for Claypool. The Steelers were happy to let him go for a 2nd rounder...

Fields still being here may be one of those "keeping the devil I know" as a vet backup IF they intend to draft CW. The other vet backups give them less of a chance to win if they get in the game. And it may just be an open competition in TC, as I've been advocating. We should know more by ...

14 months ago the Bears and Texans were the 2 worst teams in the NFL, based solely on record. We can argue roster make-up, draft capital, etc..., but at the end of the 2022 season, each team had 3 wins. Love gifted us the #1 pick in the last week of the season winning a game they didn't need to win...

Re: Bears sign TE Gerald Everett to 2yr $14M deal
I hope (and it should) be the end of Tonyan on the Bears roster. His drop cost the Bears a W, and his matador blocking was difficult to watch. He may have generated some numbers in GB, but that was with Erin throwing him the ball. Kmet has not typically been the safety valve pick-up-a-few-yards TE a...
