Re: Odunze or Nabers?

I could see Poles trading down from 9 to target a Jared Verse, Johnny Newton or Byron Murphy type.

I think, however, that neither Newton or Murphy fit the physical profile they like ... Braden Fiske in R2 fits better. Murphy reminds me of Tommie Harris.

Re: Who will wear #13 for the Bears in 2024?

Allen will get his number assigned before CW is even drafted, so that seems fairly logical that he'll pry 13 loose from Scott. I've heard he's interested in wearing 0, which apparently George McCaskey hates (wtf?) and also ... wait for it .... 1. BTW, Caleb wore 18 in high school. We'd have to un-re...

Re: Bears sign C Coleman Shelton to 1yr $3M deal

I think we draft Van Pran Bears like athletic lineman. Van Pran has a fairly meh 7.61 RAS. Beaux Limmer, who is accused of being an unathletic mauler, has a 9.81. His 40 sucked - but his 10 yard split and strength and explosion metrics are really good. https://ras.football/ras-information/?PlayerID...

I assume they are stocking first rounders to acquire JF1. /sarcasm

I think it's nuts that the Patriots don't draft a QB.

I'm "okay" with this move, if it's a stop gap move only and we add a Zach Frazier/Beaux Limmer/Christian Haynes in the draft.

Otherwise, this guy is the epitome of "average" and not a great pass protector. But then again, average is a huge upgrade over last year's shit show.

Re: Bears trade 4th rd pick to Chargers for WR Keenan Allen

He had the surgery in January after playing with it half the season. I think it's a 3-4 month recovery time and I'm pretty sure the type of surgery he had is like a 99% success rate, so I don't have any worries long term. Newton has kind of been pushed down the draft after not being able to test, a...

Re: Bears trade 4th rd pick to Chargers for WR Keenan Allen

OK. I don't fucking get it. Poles says he's going to build through the draft, but we've been blowing draft capital. The team is getting older not younger, which isn't great if you're light on picks. I have no idea how much we have to pay Allen next year, but if it's anything over $9M - $10M it's a ...

Who knows - but on the Hoge and Jahns podcast they were saying that Fields and Getsy actually really liked each other.

BTW, Fields just started following DK Metcalf on IG ... I know, I know. Grasping at straws.

I still think there is a lukewarm market for Fields: New England, Las Vegas and possibly the Giants. I'd actually be very interested in seeing JF1 in Daboll's offense.

Trade Mooney and a 2nd round pick for Higgins. He's only 25, and a proven NFL commodity. You'd essentially be getting a better than Odunze WR for a 2nd rounder.
You can't trade Mooney, he's a free agent.

Re: Some Free Agent ideas, your thoughts?

The Chargers enter FA 21 million over the cap and are expected to make some heavy cuts. Mike Williams ($32M cap hit), Keenan Allen ($34M cap hit), Joey Bosa ($36M cap hit), and Khalil Mack ($38M cap hit) are all candidates. I think they are trying to trade Mack and Bosa though. Wonder if the Bears ...

When you can get a long-term deal done for less AAV than the Franchise Tag - that's good work by Poles and Company. Agents like to argue that the Tag Number is the floor. That's a big guarantee they gave him and that's what moved JJ off "resetting the market" ... "do you want to "...

The Giants OL last year made the Bears OL in 2021 look like the Cowboys in the 90s. I dunno. That would have to be a very small exaggeration. And go back more than 1 year. I'd rather overpay at high impact positions (3T, DE, WR) than drop coin at RB where we are serviceable - Herbert, when healthy, is a big play back. I do think we need a Joker/Change of Pace/3rd Down back, ala Tarik Cohen (RIP Tarik's Career). Bucky Irving from Oregon is the guy I target in mocks now...

There's so many similarities between Russ's game and Justin's. It feels hard to believe if we're getting rid of Justin that we'd replace him (even as a mentor) with an older model. Russ can't move like he used to. Or throw like he used to. But in the right system, he can still have success. I think...
