Also there's a report that the Bears signed Andre Szmyt as a UDFA.

Re: Hub: Justin Fields might not be the guy

Hub Arkush might not be the guy. Sure, we all still want to see #1 throw for 5,000 yards real soon, and there are things to improve (the short throw inaccuracy is kinda weird, but also low hanging fruit in terms of improvement). But shoot, look at some of his long passes and trust what your eyes are...

Re: Bill Lazor to call plays -- how say you?

Generally agree with all and whole-heartedly agree with the preferred game plan against that team. I do think they could have been successful with some screens and some more pocket movement/rollouts - and then that would have helped the inside running game. But to not have 3 TEs out there and run h...

Should Bill Lazor call the offense again?

I think it's a no-brainer now, so it'll probably take 4 more games like this before it happens.

At least it's the Lions at Soldier Field next week.

He also held the ball longer than literally any other QB in the NFL during the Preseason - which plays into the consistently too slow (currently) talk Hey Rich, whassup?? Isaiah Coulter looked good tonight, in the little we saw of him. Quick and looo-oong - I think he's about 6-3, long arms too.

I'm saying we keep 4 TE: Kmet and Jesse James at Y, and Jimmy Graham and Jesper Horsted at U-back or whatever it's called.

Re: Preseason Game 3 // Bears @ Titans

ok that TD throw was almost worth sitting through some painful football. Love that almost all of Fields' scrambles, he's looking to throw and not just instantly tucking and running. And even when he does run, his speed adds another factor. I remember there was a play on 2 and 10 where there was nob...

Hey I am right with you Moriarty. No better time to start looking at 2022 than when you've still got the 2021 draft fresh in your head! Do you have a feel for which position groups are strong or weak in 2022? That's the question I usually start off with--besides team needs of course!) Edge/DL is su...

A bit of detail in the article here:

Summary: 5-9 180 but world class speed; unlike many such players he can actually get open and catch (towards the end of the article).

Re: I'm dying to hear from you all on these late rounders

Herbert had a pretty productive 2020 as a Virginia Tech grad transfer (28.0% of the Hokies' yards from scrimmage) after two and a half blah seasons at Kansas (and a row with Les Miles -- I'll default to his side over Miles on that). He's kind of a washed-in-hot-water version of David Montgomery, mi...

Re: I'm dying to hear from you all on these late rounders

I think they view Borom as a depth piece who has something they want to see if they can develop. I've got doubts he's anything, but he certainly has the attitude they want, and appears to have good football character, so time will tell. I think with Borom they wanted to make sure they had the oppos...

Re: So I'm just gonna come out and say I was wrong on Pace

I think you're right about Pace growing in the job. Remember he was only 37 (iirc) when he started. The thing that sticks out to me is that previously with his 1st and 2nd round picks he would often take players who had great measurables, but there tended to be one question or another over their col...

A few notes: Thomas Schaffer: 6-7, 302, 32.5" arm, 23 reps. Born in Austria. Played at Stanford so I guess at least a few people on the board will be able to tell us more. Caleb Johnson. 6-2, 225, 4.73 40 but 1.64 10 yard split, 4.30 shuttle, 6.89 3-cone, 38" vertical so I would say quick ...

1st round pick was a CB, their 9th defensive player chosen in the 1st round in the last 10 years .. the offensive player being, of course, QB Jordan Love.

Last guesses for #20 !!

This is what I think WILL happen, not necessarily what I think SHOULD happen: Kellen Mond. It'd be a reach, but QB is, as we all know, the most overdrafted position. I also think if Pace can trade down a few spots--like still within the 1st round, for the 5th year option--he will. My second-most-lik...

Who's your "surprise riser" for #1 - #19 ?

He's that player who get picked "too high" according to internet draft consensus. The effect being that the player you want for the Bears at #20 gets "pushed down" and you go Ahh maybe we will get my guy after all .. (Yeah this is purely an artifact of the fact that teams don't s...

Is he the Mike Glennon of 2021?

It does suggest that Foles is going to be traded, though. Because why have two expensive backup QBs?

Then again, I'm trying to think about this rationally, which may be a fundamental mistake.
