Re: WOW! Give our new GM and Coach a Chance !
IMO, if Fields is the goods and the defense gives a vibe similar to Lovie's first season (when they had issues but hustled like no other and generated a fair share of turnovers - if memory serves), the team CAN be a bit of a surprise. I have a feeling, however, that the team is going to be a LOT wor...

Re: WOW! Give our new GM and Coach a Chance !
Some folks seem to miss the dopamine rush of immediate free agency gratification. Others appear to assume that Poles would build on top of a cracked foundation rather than tearing it down and building it back up again. Are the Bears "better" now than they were at the end of last season? No...

Re: Can we be pissed now?
If all of those players had played well last season, and/or had been available all season, you'd have a point. AROB, for whatever reason, didn't play well. Daniels is a nice talent but his performance isn't hard to replace, punters can be replaced, agreed on Grant but they won bupkis with him, Goldm...

Re: Bears sign DT Justin Jones to 2yr contract
The team was going to suck with Ogunjobi and it's going to suck with Jones. I hope we see positive signs - from Fields, from some other young holdovers, from draft picks and in an energy that's reminiscent of what Lovie brought in 2004. That team didn't win much - but they played hard and fast....ho...

Packer conspiracies are in a whirlwind now that Adams has been traded for, from what I understand, a first and second round pick, to the raiders

Re: Players departing (and comp pick tracking)
I'm not particularly well versed on the comp pick formula other than to realize, adjusting for contract value and performance, teams that lose more qualifying free agents than they sign tend to, more often than not, be the teams that come away with compensatory draft picks,. Ryan Pace doesn't appear...

Re: Can we be pissed now?
I don't recall Poles saying "I'm going to BIG in veteran free agency to land offensive linemen and wide receivers!" That said, he has to sign some vet WR's, since the cupboard is literally bare. We don't know, as if yet, what he'll with veteran offensive linemen. As for the 3T, I'm guessin...

Re: Can we be pissed now?
After 7 years, Pace left one of the worst , oldest rosters in the league with limited draft capital. He produced one winning season and no playoff wins in 7 years. Poles may or may not be the answer - but missing Ryan Pace is akin to missing diaper rash. Poles signed one player on day 1 at a premium...

move makes sense - their roster was bereft of a legit 3T and Ogunjobi was arguably the best one on the free agent market.

Re: Bears WR discussion
I think Landry is targeting teams with more established offenses/QBs - and Poles likely won't over pay for him. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't sign any "name" Wrs - i.e. Schuster or Chark...unless one or both linger on the market for awhile.

Re: Edit: Fields throwing a football
Fields didn’t hold the ball longer than any other qb in the league - I believe 4 others, on average held it longer - so, while he doesn’t hold the ball longer than any other QB, there are only a handful that held the ball longer in 2021. That said, I believe Mahomes and Allen got rid of the ball bar...

Re: NT Eddie Goldman has been released
The bears will be bad in 2022 - they won’t sniff the post season imo. The season will be about Justin Fields - is he or is he not a franchise QB. If he is, that opens a world of possibilities. If he’s not, with the bears fighting to have a very high pick in ‘23, Poles may choose to draft his (own) Q...

Re: Edit: Fields throwing a football
I'm no expert (obviously) - it looks to me like he's shortened his delivery some, but still has more of a side-arm throwing motion.
IMO, even if improvements are made throwing against air, we won't know if they'll "stick" until regular season bullets start flying

Imo this is an excellent move for the chargers, who are closer to being contenders than the bears.

@RapSheet
The #Chargers are taking on all of Mack’s contract — three years at $63.9M. The #Bears move on with the picks.

Re: I'm really disappointed in yesterday
Rodgers is the most talented QB - accuracy, decision making, arm talent, pocket presence, sneaky athleticism - I've seen. He's not the "best" - Brady is the best. But, talent wise, Rodgers may not have a peer. The team around him imo has been better in the past. He's had far more complete ...

Re: Is Aaron Rodgers done in Green Bay?
The Bears need to finally field an offense that can go toe to toe with Rodgers. Since Rodgers has been in Green Bay, the Bears have lost two 10-3 games to the Packers. In the NFC title game, the Bears gave up two offensive TDs and lost. In 2012, the Bear offense had less than 400 yards of total offe...

Only thing I disagree with here is the notion that poles sees Mooney as a #1 or #1a receiver. While poles was complimentary of Mooney, considering where he’s coming from, I doubt he sees Mooney as anything more than a #2 wideout. Poles has spoken of the need to get fields a receiver - ie a true numb...

Re: Is Aaron Rodgers done in Green Bay?
While my brain says I should want Rodgers as far away from the NFCN as possible, the meatball in me wants him to stay in Green Bay and I want the Bears to (finally) get the best of him in a tangible way. Technically, 2019 SHOULD have been the year the Bears officially turned the corner against him. ...

Re: Delerious Excitement over Fields
Fields pocket awareness improved dramatically as the season went on - what didn’t improve was his elongated delivery, which is ripe for fumbles. He also did a poor job of avoiding unnecessary hits, leading to a spate of injuries. That said, imo, he gets one year to show dramatic improvement. If he f...
