Re: 2025 NFL Draft Thread
I agree Art, but receiving is half the TE job - it's not the only criteria for what makes a "starter". Starter is really a nebulous concept anyways, it's about snap counts. There is a need to have both skill sets and both skill sets will get a healthy snap count, Kmet may do more blocking while ...

Re: 2025 NFL Draft Thread
JMO, but I think they just saw a good T and took him because we needed another T to develop. I don't think they have anything set in their heads and will train him up on both sides as any swing would, and go from there. Wright might get hurt also, so even if we find that he's "just a RT" I'm ok ...

Re: Running Backs - where do we go
I am wondering if there were just no trade partners in the second willing to move down at a reasonable price.
To move up there has to be someone wanting to move down. It goes without saying.

Re: 2025 NFL Draft Thread
Watching the Interviews with the new Bears draftees, I was struck by the diverse range of personalities and styles.
I am in general happy with the draft results. 2025 was missing that overdraft, run on QB, in the 1-10 spots that would traditionally let a marquee player fall to the Bears at 10. This ...

Re: Running Backs - where do we go
I am guessing the Bears just weren't interested in RB after the first 3 went off the board. I was hoping for a bell cow like Judkins. Got the 7th rounder from Rutgers. We will see what they do with UDFAs now. Who will be the next Sanborn?
Or one of the above listed Veteran FAs.

Re: 2025 NFL Draft Thread
Very weird day 3.
I guess they are happy and willing to wait for UDFA for a RB.
They obviously explored trading up from #10, presumably for Jeanty, but that was going to be too rich for Poles liking.
Then it seemed like every time they were getting close to their pick RBs were drafted just ...

Re: My take on the draft thus far
I am very happy with the draft so far. Can not really complain with any of the picks. I was surprised for sure on a couple, but they have to know better than I.
Still have day 3 to go.
I see a need for a RB, DE , LB and S. Not in any particular order or priority.
They only have 3 picks left outside ...

Re: 2025 BFO Draft Contest
It’s over, it’s all over. Everyone was shut out in picks 2, 3, and 4:
Moriarty retains his lead to win with 4 points (Colston Loveland). Lacertine Forest was 2nd with 1 point. Everyone else put up a gooseegg.
Thanks for playing.
So I am tied with everyone else and I didn't even make any picks ...

Re: 2025 NFL Draft Thread
I've bitched more about Swift then anyone, but he's a legit starting back in the NFL. Sure you can improve on him but you can also just add a complement that's better than Roschon Johnson and the running back room is upgraded a fair amount.
They may draft a guy today...but it's pretty clear ...

Re: R2 P39: Luther Burden III, WR - Mizzou
I was shocked they went WR, but really liking this pick.
There is no excuse now from that WR room.
As someone above stated, empty backfield set with DJ, Odunze, Burden, Kmet and Colston is going to be a defensive nightmare.

Re: 2025 BFO Draft Contest
Isn't that usually the case? Fans rarely know better and when they do it is with hindsight and luck. I am more trusting of Front Offices in general as it is their sole function in life to do this drafting business.Bears Whiskey Nut wrote: Fri Apr 25, 2025 10:51 pm I take solace in the fact that we all didn't know shit.

Re: 2025 NFL Draft Thread
Not what I was expecting on day two. I suspect Poles was rebuffed in any attempt to move up.
I figured they would trade either 39 or 41 once the two RBs went off the board. I definitely prefer a 4th to a 7th.

I've got a radical idea... let's see what the kid can do in the NFL before deriding Poles and Johnson for selecting him.
The truth is no-one knows how any of these rookies are going to pan out. Every year there are highly touted prospects who fail to live up to their billing and others who far ...

I have to say. I feel bad for Shadeur for this reason only; his dad's arrogance and ego laced coaching style led to this moment. Where a young man is standing there on draft night, having been told by all of his enablers (including his dad) that he was a top 10 prospect, only to fall out of the ...

Re: 2025 NFL Draft Thread
Loveland was definitely a Ben Johnson pick. You only have to watch the video of the Bears calling him with their pick going in. Ben was like a kid at Christmas. He got his guy. Though Poles in his presser said they liked him during the process. Kid played with terrible QB play last year and still ...

I was pretty sure it would be Warren when the pick was announced.
Not upset though. I think BJ has a plan here.
Someone stumped for him over Warren in that Draft Room.

I am okay with Loveland at 10.
Looks like we will see a lot of 12 personnel.
OTs were no sure picks. I am surprised they didn't go with Mykel. (sp)
So glad they didn't give too much to move up. Jags are going to regret that move, though they got a great player. They need picks to fill a lot of holes ...

A better 3T Starter
A better NT Starter

I was looking at the wrong chart. There is about a 500 point difference between 10 and 4. Which is one of our 2nd round picks. Then we'd probably have to throw in a kicker, like a 2026 4th round pick.
Yep there ya go. We're basically saying Jeanty at #4 is better than whatever RB we could ...

If Jeanty is there at 10, okay.
Then I would look directly at the 2d and 3rd rounds with anticipation.
If Poles moves up for him and gives up those picks, I am out.
Bears still need starters and high level backups in more than one place.
Giving up high picks to get just one guy is not good draft ...
