I don't know what it is, I see a heavy dose of 'meh'.
Like nothing he does feels special to me.
Hampton is very good. I mean, you'd rather see his numbers against the SEC versus the ACC, but then you'd rather see Ashton Jeanty's numbers against the ACC versus the Mountain West, so ...

Sheldon Rankins is an interesting name... was drafted to play DT by the Saints into Dennis Allen's defense
Braden Smith is another name, I'd consider him at RG
Jonathan Allen could be interesting as well at DT

Well if it’s true that doesn’t make me feel great about Poles. How do you miss that badly between him and Kliff Kingsbury? Yikes.
Sounds like he talks a big game, can explain concepts and everything well.
When it comes to the execution part, he can't hold anyone accountable.
The fact that he ...

I like Carter to stick.
Moore
Odunze
?
Carter
Scott
Rookie/UDFA type
There are a handful of speedy FA's that would fill that #3 role if Scott can't do anything.
Darius Slayon
KJ Osborn
TuTu Atwell
Dynami Brown
Mecole Hardman
Tylan Wallace
I think you can get a speedy guy in FA.

Two to keep an eye on could be Tim Patrick who played for Johnson in Detroit last season and Marquez Valdes-Scantling who started the year in Buffalo before joining the Saints mid-season, although there's no real crossover with Dennis Allen since he was fired after Valdes-Scantling's first ...

Has the height/weight/length that Dennis Allen wants in his EDGE players, kid has a lot of pop in his hands, plays with violence.
I feel like the prototype Allen end is "overplayed"
I don't really think he has any pass rushing chops personally
Are we thinking that just setting the edge is ...

Re: Running Backs - where do we go
I see SOOOOOOO MUCH David Montgomery in Cam Skattebo. He makes too much sense to draft if he's there at 72.
Slight trade down from #10 - Tyler Booker, OG
#39 - Joshua Farmer, DT
#41 - Landon Jackson, EDGE
#72 - Cam Skattebo, RB
Why the Landon love?
Farmer makes alot of sense

Re: Ian Cunningham 2nd interview w/ TEN
Sadly I don't think he gets the job
Take this for what it’s worth but I’ve heard some scuttlebutt that said the Jax GM might not have final roster control and Cunningham isn’t comfortable with that.
Again, this is prolly BS … but an interesting angle.

Re: Running Backs - where do we go
This class is just too deep to not draft at least one RB.
I agree with this.
I truly believe they have to go RB with one of the first three picks.
I don't agree with this at all. Especially in a running back class this deep, with some good options that will most likely stretch into Day ...

Re: Running Backs - where do we go
IMO the question of "where do we draft a RB" comes down to how much we do in Free Agency at the LOS. We need 3 IOL starters and we need upgrades at DT and DE. So 5 bigtime needs at the LOS, how many do we address in FA will dictate how many of those first 3 picks need to go to that area. I'm ...

Counting on Scott as WR3 is dicey.
Well, I dunno...maybe?
Eberflus and Getsy never really played him. Eberflus and Waldron never really played him, either.
We still don't know what we have in Scott, IMHO. That being said, since we're going to lose Allen, we do need to draft a guy...and yeah ...

I think he's pretty good, it seems like he helps keep Ryan Poles calm (I recall Poles wanting to trade up for Odunze and Cunningham basically forcing him to 'chill out').

I expect him to be gone after this season as well. I do believe RB is a greater 'need' than many of us realize -- question becomes if it is addressed in FA or the draft (I'm betting the latter).
With the amount they're paying Swift the draft certainly seems the most likely route. I can't ...

Quite interesting seeing Jahmyr Gibbs noticeably better than David Montgomery running behind the same line...
They're used in different ways though and Gibbs is the more explosive player.

100% or conversely take anyone you value who happens to be falling (RB, OL, TE, DL, etc.)

Yep. I thought he did get better as the season went on, but my biggest frustration with him last season was poor vision and an incredibly poor ability to break tackles.southdakbearfan wrote: Sat Feb 15, 2025 5:02 pm ... he goes east and west, has poor vision and doesn’t hit the hole.

@Grizzled let's be fair, too, in that we needed to upgrade talent all over this roster, so it's not as if this was gross negligence to add depth elsewhere.

Poles has drafted starters at OT but crickets at G and C. OL should be drafted every year. He has failed the team on building both OL and DL.

I like the idea of getting that 3rd round compensatory pick and then using it to trade up from 39 to the end of round 1 to pick up whichever talented OL/DL slips. I could easily see a Nick Scourton or a Mykel Williams or a Mike Green slipping there. Great opportunity for a team like the Bears to ...
