Re: Jake Butts - Zach Miller 2.0???

Butt was never super fast to begin with. I don't think much will come of him. Pennel is the only one of the three that I could see sticking.

I don't love that the Bears are potentially replacing a 26yr old Goldman with a 30yr old Pennel.

Please save the day Khyris Tonga.

Same. Too many smoked meats and bourbons on random days of the week and not enough of my previous physical activities due to places being closed. Sorry in advance for the brag, but I found Covid helpful. I used my new found time at home to learn how to cook and started up jogging and long beach wal...

Re: Akiem Hicks looks in shape

All I've got to say is that two years ago, my older son pointed excitedly at the tv when the camera panned to Hicks and yelled "Dad! That guy looks just like you!" Now he's eight, and I'm 40 pounds heavier after the pandemic, and fucking Hicks looks like that, and I'm just going to eat a ...

It is possible he opted out for more than just asthma. If he has some immune deficiency or sickle cell gene he may not be able to be vaccinated. If that is the case, he doesn't have irrational fear and could be legitimately at risk. Let's give the guy a break he might just be wanting that extra tim...

Re: Nagy: No circumstance that Fields starts week 1

Every team is going to handle a rookie QB differently. The Chiefs sat Mahomes, Russell Wilson outcompeted a veteran QB and won the starting job. Nagy would do the team a disservice if he really closes the door on Fields being able to win the starting job. I watched the presser last night, he was pr...

Re: Akiem Hicks looks in shape

I've never thought Akiem Hicks never gave a shit. I wouldn't go that far. Guy got hurt and he's been playing subpar ever since. Coming to camp pushing 400 and cringy dumb-ass penalties that cost the team at important times is *sorta* like not giving a shit. Sometimes these guys let their emotions g...

It's the early days of the revisionist history movement. I have a feeling he's just getting warmed up. We're due for another term paper on how Mitch = Brees. Mitch just needed another half decade and it would've happened. Then apparently Nagy taught Fangio everything he knows about defense and dese...

I doubt it happens, but I'd love this dude on the PS. He seems like one of those prospects that was in the wrong draft at the wrong time and could flourish if he gets a chance. I mean people were talking about him as a potential top 10 pick when he was at Wake Forest.

I think Gabriel in 2018 was a better player than Mooney right now and Gabriel was severely underrated here This feels backwards... Statistically speaking, 2018 Gabriel is nearly identical to 2020 Mooney, but Mooney did it in 9 games to Gabriel's 11. I mean they are almost number to number, with the...

I don't think I've ever read that he's a locker room issue. I know he and Wilson weren't the best of pals, but I think that was more football politics than Sherman being a cancer.

Re: Nagy optimism

IIRC the Bears were 9th in scoring that year but 21st in yards. Logic would clearly dictate that the reason for this is because the offense generally didn't have that far to go, but that the they did their job and complimented the defensive and/or special teams effort with scores. I mean, the offens...

Re: Tarik Cohen 2021 expectations?

I really like Herbert. He and CJ Marable were two of my favorite backs in the draft, and the Bears got both.

Cohen can be cut or traded pretty easily after the season if he doesn't revert to form, but he'll be given every opportunity to do it.

Good post, Yogi. Agreed it's a process. Just because we're not there yet doesn't mean there hasn't been improvement (there has). But it isn't fast enough. It is weird to feel bad for Fields for falling to my team (and still being elated about it). LOL I hope Fields helps tremendously in tearing dow...

First of all, good on Montgomery for being open to coaching. Obviously, any improvement in long speed would definitely help him. It sounds hard to change your gait when you're running unconsciously but maybe he could think about his form once he breaks into the open field? Secondly, this reminded m...
