Re: 2024 Combine Talk

Dallas Turner coming in shorter and heavier than most people expected at 6'2 257. I think most people expected him to be 6'4 240ish. Laiatu Latu coming in at 6'5 259 and running an unofficial 4.6 forty is wild. If it weren't for his medicals, dude would be a top 5 pick easy. I'm feeling pretty tempt...

FWIW I really really really REALLY didn't like Mike Glennon. It was almost unhealthy.

Re: 2024 Combine Talk

Kneeland just hit the top tier of my third-round wish list. But I don't think he'll be there. I dunno. Since 2016, the two non-Power 5 conference edge defenders who've gone before Round 3 (Marcus Davenport in 2018 and Payton Turner in 2021) haven't lit the league on fire, and both were bigger than ...

Part of me really wants the Bears to have a QB that other teams/fans loathe the way we loathed Rodgers and Favre for all those years.

Re: Justin Fields Megathread - A story of Lovers and Haters

Maybe said teams see the weakness that the Bears have seen and are not willing to ante up much. I mean a team is wanting to trade their QB because he has not measured up to that teams standards. It is not like the Bears are trading a Stafford, Brady, Jackson or someone that is top shelf. When a tea...

Yeah, I mean....unless he comes out and says, "I don't care about NFL slotting contracts - I'm CW, so I'm demanding more," I don't see any issues here. All the smoke about character stuff has had zero evidence so far - not a single coach or teammate has said he's been a problem (plenty ha...

That's just it. I have not been able to find ANYTHING from anyone that says this guy is a bad teammate or even remotely uncoachable. Nobody is treating him like a Roman god. Re: Caleb Williams News and Rumor thread

I'm starting to like Williams the person a little bit now. Goddammit. He's got confidence and swagger. I love it. Get in the building and own the house, young man. I am a JF1 fanboy -- I loved him at tOSU and I was ecstatic when the bears drafted him. I'm totally bummed at the prospect of him leavi...

Re: Some Free Agent ideas, your thoughts?

There's not a lot of QB's that he's worked with out there that you'd bring in as a backup. John Woolford doesn't inspire much confidence. Sean Mannion and Blake Bortles have retired. Case Keenun is like 38. I suppose Drew Lock might be the best option if they are looking for someone with familiarity...

Re: Some Free Agent ideas, your thoughts?

I thought I posted this but don't see it. Any chance they make a play for Drew Lock? He's by no means a great player, but he has been with Waldron for a few years and knows the system. He started 2 games last year and didn't embarrass himself. Could play the role Sanchez did as a backup player/coac...

Re: Justin Fields Megathread - A story of Lovers and Haters

I think the Bears have the roster to support a player like Williams playing early. They were pretty dysfunctional when they drafted Fields. He didn't get any time with the starters, hardly any time in the preseason, and then got thrown out there with little to no preparation. The same thing happened...

Managing a team of "analysts" is a challenge sometimes. My analysts are anything but. Specialists maybe...but asking them to do any sort of analytical work is like asking them to create a quantum tunnel into the Upside Down.

Red Dead games are some of my favorite. Generally I don't love open world games because they feel tedious (looking at you Fallout), but you can kind of lost in these.

Re: How much can Waldron and Fields "work" togther

They should have discussed potential outcome(s) at QB when they interviewed Waldron. They had to have done that but telling an OC candidate that his evaluation of the QB situation makes no difference should have had the guy running for the hill. I think that's waaaay overstating it. Waldron has sai...

FWIW Poles specifically mentioned that it's ideal to have as many draft picks as possible, because that's how you truly build a team. The more quantity you have, the more likely you are to find quality.

Im definetley on the draft a wr vety early than sign any wr in freeagency.....it would be a different story if we were picking in the bottom of the first round....... Well they're going to have to sign WRs in free agency because they really only have Moore, Jones and Scott and the latter two have d...

Not to toot my own horn, but I thought Daniels was going to be a top 10 pick when he was at ASU. I've also been touting McCarthy as a first round pick for like a year, had Mitch behind Watson and Mahomes, knew without a shadow of a doubt that Lance was going to suck, and called Jared Goff to the Ra...

It sounds nice and all, except...where does a high level QB prospect come from? Trade away most of your haul to move up in 2025 when you have a mystery quality QB class, but probably worse? Fields? None for me, thanks McCarthy/Nix/Penix? Why is there a strong market to move into top 2, if there's 4...

Re: Sounds like Kevin Warren favors a trade back...

I'm clearly just grasping at air with this, but my best guess is that King's "that seems to be the way the wind is blowing" statement came from him hearing (reliably) that Washington is prepared to make a pretty substantial offer for the #1 pick. Him qualifying that with "I know nothi...

Re: Caleb Williams News and Rumor thread

For me the concern lies in exactly what role Carl Williams will play in Caleb Williams' career, specifically on the 'business side' of the ledger. Will he create a stink / force a holdout with Caleb signing his first contract? Will he create issues if/when we (assuming we draft him) decide to franc...

There’s a list of tiger parent athletes that fail because they lack the love of the game and it was forced down their throats at an age. CW may be one of these. Lemelo has not been a bust. He is currently averaging 24 pts, 5 reb and 8 assists a game. That was basically his stat line from last year as well. The Ball Bro on the Bulls has been injured since he arrived in Chicago basically. When he played they were a much better team. Carry on. Ok whatever, do...

Re: Is the NFL Draft an idea whose time has passed?

I'm going to breeze past the thinly veiled symbolism and focus on the value of the draft. Without the draft, the league would suffer. Folks can decide for themselves if they feel that's good or bad, but it would suffer. Teams with bad leadership would sink if it was just an open pool of candidates w...

Can’t draw any definitive conclusions imo from the presser. Poles tone and language were different than a year ago AND there’s no real need to drum up additional demand for the #1 pick - it’s already extremely high That's the thing. If there was a need to drum up interest, it would have been last y...
