Re: Build the Lines

My frustration is based on the fact that Poles has ignored this for so long and now we find ourselves without a realistic plan. At least no plan which will significantly change things in the short term. I disagree that Poles ignored the O-line. I do think he overestimated the talent level of indivi...

Re: Build the Lines

15M avg over 3-4 years? I’d pay that. Poles can’t allow himself to get constantly outbid for offensive lineman - market speaks and he needs to pay market price like he does at WR and CB and LB. It’s been my chief complaint about Poles since he got here. I share DDs frustration. I share his frustrat...

Re: Build the Lines

Yeah I have zero faith in Bates. I would keep Shelton though, because he’s probably going to be one of the top 2-3 centers available this offseason. Even though I’d prefer they draft a LT, I think they are a year away. Braxton / KA / FA Tev / Rookie (who can also play OT) Shelton / Bates Smith / Pry...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUyt6uxiFIM Kiper didn't like OT and didn't mention IOL either way (so is that average?) Wow the odds must be astronomical as @wab says 99.99999% of people disagree with me. You found the one in 10 million who does  No. They disagree with your weird stance that ...

Re: Tankathon 2024

I preface this with the statement that I'm not trolling you. At all. But this hard stance is silly. There is talent in the draft. There is talent in FA. There is talent on the Bears. It’s all relative of course. I want a Oline befitting of our QB. If you want a mediocre Oline then the talent is the...

Assuming the two big DTs are gone, same. He can give you snaps at LT too.

Then you take Donovan Jackson in R2 to play the other guard spot. Bates is there in case either of those rookies aren't ready.

Re: Tankathon 2024

If we spent all our picks on the lines, I wouldn't be upset. With a lean towards more Oline then dline but we need both this offseason The talent is not there, we’re better off trading our picks for someone decent I preface this with the statement that I'm not trolling you. Re: Build the Lines

Going to have to disagree again :D O line free agents are usually done otherwise they get paid before they hit FA. So if neither draft nor FA can fix it, should we just quit and retire the franchise? Right. Trey Smith is like 26 years old and the Chiefs aren’t going to be able to keep everyone.

Re: Tankathon 2024

How much did Waldron play into the OL “debacle”? Seems like they’ve improved.

Upgrades are needed at a couple spots but it’s not like they need 5 new starters.

Re: Bears have fired Matt Eberflus

This is a weird hill.

Harbaugh had no interest in the Bears, as reported by many outlets and individuals so the Bears didn’t have an interest in Harbaugh. We don’t need to make it more than it is.

I would say in terms of need it's probably
1 - Interior OL
2 - DL
- 2a DT
- 2b DE

.
.
3 - WR3
.
.
.

.
4 - SS
5 - FS

6'2 250 DEs were kind of an Eberflus thing. Carter also feels more like a 3-4 guy.

Re: Build the Lines

I don’t see Poles extending Tevin. I imagine the inside 3 will be different next year on the Oline. This approach will allow Poles to attack DT (pray for Graham to fall far enough)and DE in the first two rounds. The third pick (2nd round) will most likely be IOL. That leaves 2 spots on the OL being...

Re: Bears have fired Matt Eberflus

FWIW, in addition to Brad Biggs, Hub Arkush, a friend of Harbaugh's, said the former Michigan head coach was 'never coming to Chicago.' That said, not only do I believe the McCaskeys never broached the subject, I also believe that Ryan Poles had zero interest in firing his friend Matt Eberflus in f...

I tend to think that the "noise" around Marcus Freeman has some teeth - right or wrong. He'd be the "leader of men/CEO head coach" some believe is warranted. I am a HUGE FAN of Marcus Freeman. I love he way he goes about his business and I think he is a very special talent and l...

Re: Bears have fired Matt Eberflus

If the McCaskeys were serious, they would have let their checkbook convince him. This is the correct answer. I don't know why folks would give them any benefit of doubt here, they've gone the safe/cheap route over and over again. There's no reason to believe the line that Harbaugh wouldn't come her...

JMO but it would be in the best interest of the franchise to play Kiran the rest of the way at LT. If we are comfortable enough with him being our primary swing tackle, then we should be confident enough to put him out there as a starter and see what he can do as we head into the offseason. Don't w...

Re: Bears Coaching Search - 2025

The only - and unlikely - path Brown has to returning to the Bears as an OC is if they hire a defensive guy as HC. Brown either stays as HC or he goes to another team. I see no realistic alternatives other than that. Yeah. OC under Ben Johnson would be a big step backward for Brown at this point. I...
