Re: A LOT of smoke about Harbaugh…

If, and it’s a big IF, they land Harbaugh…I’d be perfectly fine with the Bears promoting Champ to GM.

He's still kinda learning to play. He was really really raw when he was drafted. I remember the story in camp was that he was still transforming his body into an NFL body.

Re: General Manager/Head Coach Interview Discussion

If Eberflus/Brown is the end result it feels a little less like "prearranged marriage" and more "head coach picked GM" which might be a narrow, but important distinction. If that's what is coming to pass, hope they don't BS fans. Throw an EVP title at Eberflus and tell us why th...

It's not surprising that the Bears are looking at people from organizations ran by people they respect. Ownership admires the Saints and Steelers, and Polian has obvious ties to Indy.

I do have a feeling that Flores is going to go to the Giants. The Bears will probably end up settling for Eberflus or Graham. Or god forbid...Frazier.

I wondered that too. Can't they wait a week until we actually have a GM and a HC?
Josh Lucas and Champ Kelly are still on the payroll.

Yea saw that too which is why I was thinking maybe he did this to save face. There's like a dozen highly qualified candidates, not sweating this at all. I don't really understand that move. Withdrawing from consideration draws attention to the situation. Just quietly not getting the job (especially...

Re: Bears to interview Matt Eberflus, Colts DC

The 3T role is the the other big quesrion. Unless you wanna take a big bet on Nichols performing in that role and giving him a big contract, or taking a bet on Hicks health, you're probably not getting anyhting approaching that dynamic Tommie Harris role in 2022. So you might need to supplement wit...

Yes. The Colts have marginal corners, but they have excellent LBs and good safeties.

Re: General Manager/Head Coach Interview Discussion

Anybody else feeling progressively worse about this the longer it drags on? I feel like the most Bears thing to do would be, after all these interviews, to promote Champ Kelly to GM and then he brings on a HC no one's heard of. All indications are the execs have finally gotten the message but there...

Re: Bears to interview Matt Eberflus, Colts DC

We will be loaded at DE - Mack, Quinn, Edwards Jr, and Trevis Gibson. DT is a worry, Blackson should be good but we don't really have that 3T. Goldman, Hicks, and Nichols may all be gone and Tonga probably backs up Blackson. Could a switch like this extend the life of Hicks? I'd think Attachoa woul...

The rumor mill says Dodds bombed his interview and that he's had bad interviews before. I don't know if that's what has caused him to pull out of other jobs, or if he just like where he is, or if he's all hype...but this is kind of a pattern.

I watched a lot of him at Nebraska (my wife is a Husker). He seems like a safety playing corner. We already have a safety that plays like a corner...so maybe they flip-flop?

If we don't go with Flores, I'm ok with Eberflus I suppose. I think I'd probably take Daboll over him, and I'm still a Patrick Graham fan. But Eberflus feels like a good hire.

If you believe that JF1 is a generational talent (I do)... then you should also feel comfortable with the idea of him elevating the WR's he does have to work with.

There's just too much handwringing about all of this. None of these decisions are made in a vacuum. I do not see how Jameson Williams makes it out of round 1 with the season he had. All the more recent mocks I have seen talk about im as one of the risers. To me a WR1 is a bigger body guy that can win jump ball situations, that ain't Mooney. His contested catch rate is pretty bad, but his route ru...

Re: So if you were the Bears next GM..

Agreed. WR could be the ugliest position group (although I'd probably pick S - or even DL, if you let both FAs walk). But I think a young QB needs OL and at least an average HB far more than WRs. And in general, if you asked me which position group you'd be more comfortable with a bunch of nobodies...

Nuance is not dead and that’s just poor sportsmanship Cooler. Nuance is dead. Preference means absolute rigidity to an ideal. … there's a lot of paper resume hiring going on by fans… Two of the best comments I’ve seen in a while. Re: General Manager/Head Coach Interview Discussion

I like everything I've read of Graham as a coach - but do worry if he has spent too much of his career in that NE 'bubble' and also that his last few jobs ended with the HC getting fired. He was there for McAdoo's two year run in NY before getting fired and then for McCarthy's last year in GB. Spen...
