Re: Day 2
Sorry for no context - if Newton is falling because he is still recovering or needs additional surgery etc on his jone's fracture foot, then maybe the bears take him and redshirt him.

Re: So, how do we address our last hole on the team?
Poles has shown that he is willing to trade picks for players so I wanted to throw that option out there. Maybe there's a mid-tier edge somewhere he could pry free

Didn't George McCaskey say that they can only force a team to do it if nobody else volunteers? And he said there were volunteers

Re: Day 2
Looking at what's available, I think there's a good chance there will be a 3rd tier 3tech available at 75. If the Bears add Mike Hall or Braden Fiske without trading up I think that would be a win. Otherwise I like the OL and S prospects more than EDGE. Kneeland intrigues me but otherwise I'm pretty...

Re: WAB Mock Draft
The analysist I follow see to think that Fashanu is basically a finesse pass blocker. It doesn't make sense to me in terms of how much the bears want to run the ball and the fact that we already have an LT that struggles to anchor against the bull rush. Why get another one?

Re: WAB Mock Draft
I think Verse will be fine and fills a need but I am really turned off by the lack of improvement between 2022 and 2023. He just seems like a 6-8 sack a year DE2 to me and that's not what I want from my #9 pick. In this scenario, assuming nobody wants to trade back, I think I'd rather get Murphy bec...

Re: Borom may be in jeopardy
He could offer to tear up the contract and take a pay cut / Poles could ask him to take a pay cut if they really wanted to make it work. I just don't think either side is interested and I wonder if he has a future somewhere else as a Guard

Round 4 option: Malik Washington
He's another small-ish receiver but I like his ability to separate and he has good contact balance for RAC

Re: Offensive Line thoughts
I don't think it was crazy for Poles to think that either Whitehair or Patrick would play at an adequate level. Maybe you could blame him for failing on the pro scouting piece of the Patrick signing but it was Getsy's guy so I can see how it happened. If i'm criticizing Poles for how he's managed th...

Re: 30 Visits
No matter who they bring in for these visits, everyone knows the Bears are targeting an EDGE at some point in the draft. There's no need to create a smokescreen to hide something that would be absolutely no surprise to anyone

Predicting the Bears Offensive Success
Let's not fight about what metric we're using to rank. Imagine this ranking by whatever metric (DVOA, Total Yards, Scoring, etc etc whatever you like). Let's use this to take the temperature on the board about where this team is going with Waldron and Caleb

Re: I think we Bears fans are traumatized
I don't think the Chiefs had a top 3 defense or top 3 offense. They were a flawed team that made a run. DVOA agrees. They won the super bowl because they have star players on both sides of the ball and excellent coach who all stepped up at the right time. https://www.ftndaily.com/nfl/tools/team-tota...

Re: I think we Bears fans are traumatized
There is some specific trauma around the offense that people haven't overcome. Normal fanbases are all watching highlights from skill-position players fantasizing about Malik Nabers magically falling to their teams against all odds. Meanwhile we're at #9 and this fanbase (and this board) is like &qu...

Re: Draft Prospects: WR
Legette's story is more complicated than his stats. He's had coaches convert him to RB and a running QB when they needed him, and he's had coaches leave after they recruited him. It took him awhile to find enough stability to allow him to succeed.

Re: Bears Big Board at current slots
I see Troy Fautanu as a Poles guy. Sweet guy that goes aggro on the field. Versatility to backup oft-injured Tev if he can't beat Braxton to start. The fact that we each have guys that are "poles guys" speaks to the opportunity for poles to get red guys who are good fits in the teens if t...

Re: Bears Big Board at current slots
I don’t really think Dallas Turner or Jared Verse are exciting “top 10” pick types. Most years I think they’d be third and fourth best and thus probably available later in the first. If the WRs don’t fall I think the Bears are safe trading back to get another top 100 pick. They can get dline #4 with...

Re: Vikings make Texans draft trade, targeting move into top 5?
In Allbright's mock draft 3 of the 4 QBs are going to teams who stuck and picked. That feels unlikely to me. Obv the Bears get to pick their favorite and the Commanders PROBABLY like 1 of the other 3 but seriously the vikings are so sure that their 3rd favorite guy is worth all this maneuvering? And...

I'm more concerned about the fit than the details of the cost. You hope that the Bears stay healthy enough at EDGE that he can play on passing downs only but it's a risk

Re: Ryan Poles Presser
He was careful not to mention coaching but he fired Getsy, Tolbert, and Jonoko for a reason. I don't buy that it was just red meat for the pro-Justin contingent. Poles made a mistake thinking that trio could maximize the 2023 roster. I think he's owning that, which is nice. I'd like to see Flus take...

Re: Vikings make Texans draft trade, targeting move into top 5?
I assume they are stocking first rounders to acquire JF1. /sarcasm I think it's nuts that the Patriots don't draft a QB. The Patriots might have a bad roster that includes lots of FA bust veterans so, if I was their GM, I would have a placeholder quarterback throwing to Juju and Kendrick Bourne thi...

Re: Is It Too Soon For Thoughts On Pick #9?
I agree with dplank here that opportunities for late-round picks are pretty slim. I have my list of roster “locks” below and this doesn't include the guys who are very good special teams players. Offense (19) WR (4) DJ, Keenan, TS, VJJ OL (7) Brax, Tev, Nate Davis, Wright, Ryan Bates, Coleman Shelto...
