Re: Bears roster: Where do we stand
The Patrick idea seems okay because of the history with Johnson, but he's a contested catch kind of guy isn't he? Seems like the WR3 for the Bears should be a speedy field-stretching receiver as a better complement to DJ and Rome. If Scott is DOA, I suppose he's still a good signing at a low price ...

Re: Running Backs - where do we go
Big or small, the ability to break tackles and make yardage after contact is what defines power. Now some big guys have no speed and no moves so their role is limited to short yardage hoping their size will count for something.
Derrick Henry has both speed and power, Harris is similar to Monty ...

Re: 1st. Rd. pick in your draft
I don't drive in Vietnam. Let the pros do it, which means I ride in a wide variety of poorly maintained "Grab" vehicles. Grab is the Southeast Asia equivalent of Uber (and in fact, Grab bought Uber out of the region somehow). I'm not sure how such an arrangement will score in your contest. Maybe I ...

Re: 1st. Rd. pick in your draft
Why is height a detriment in pass protection? I've never heard that for a back and can't think of a reason why it would be the case.
A search indicates that the average height for running backs in the NFL now is 5'10. Fullbacks average 6'0.
If you use a first rounder and he's Jahmyr Gibbs, it's ...

Re: 1st. Rd. pick in your draft
I’m not that high on Jeanty.
Yes he can explode through tackles in college but at his size, that’s not going to happen in the NFL these days
Yeah just like the even smaller Jahmyr Gibbs can't break tackles at 5'9, 200. Oh wait.
We need to see what the Bears do in FA. If they deal with both OL ...

Re: 1st. Rd. pick in your draft
Jeanty is short but not little. He's 5'9, 215. He runs with power and is hard to tackle. I had the same though but changed my mind after I watched some film.
215 is the average weight of an NFL running back. Height is not an advantage for a running back.

Despite also being in the don't overdraft RB camp, generally, my first sim just went like this:
Trade - R3, #72 to Bengals for DE Trey Hendrickson
R1, #10 - RB Ashton Jeanty
R2, #39 - T Josh Conerly Jr.
Trade - R2, #41 for Steelers R2, #53 and R3, #85

There was also the interesting title for Antwaan Randle El that may have impacted OC interest. With the assistant HC title, does that mean the OC works for him?

Re: Coordinators: Dennis Allen DEF, Declan Doyle OFF, Richard Hightower ST
I screen capped that wiki page, lol. I am somewhat disturbed that the Bears may have hired an offensive coordinator who didn't rate a Wikipedia page.l until they did so. Can only hope that offensive genius recognizes offensive genius, or something like that.

Re: Official Eat Crow
I'll have a dish of crow for supporting the retaining of Matt Eberflus. I thought the Bears second half justified it, but instead I was fooled by beating bad teams or teams with starting QBs on the sidelines. I am disappointed that I did not notice his inability to be accountable for things, which ...

Re: Sign Him
It's a bit selective memory to talk about spending a 4th on Allen and the #9 on Rome. The Bears traded for Allen a month before the draft and didn't know that Rome would be available there. That made Allen a luxury, but if the Bears didn't take Rome, then Allen was a necessity. If Rome was highest ...

Re: Bears Coaching Search: 2025 Edition
Thoughts, long-form:
1. If Ben Johnson wants to work for an objectively corrupt & clearly 6th-grade-reading-level 5% owner in Tom Brady, let him. Mark Davis is an unfettered football dipshit & Brady is an unapolegetic cheat. To even consider that job as a top candidate tells me all you need to ...

Re: Christmas Day 3 round mock
Good plan and mock (agree with others about not tagging Tevin though). I also think we need to address RB more than WR.
Since Roschon has not looked good after coming back from his concussion, I think it becomes imperative to draft a RB in 2nd or 3rd round, instead of your WR pick. I think the ...

Re: Early but What Else is There to Look Forward to With This Team
For me the defense fell off when Billings got hurt. They may also have lost their buy-in with Eberflus, but after Billings got his titty torn off they never looked the same to me. I think the defensive core is solid, but depth on the D-line needs to be addressed through draft and FA. The offense is ...

Meh, I'm a fan. I do this sports fan gig because it's fun. I liked his first 3 games as OC and I liked his presser and now hope for: a 5-0 finish, a miraculous finding of our HC for 15+ years... and I just ran through the wall of my office.
Revision: I tried to run through the wall. I thought ...

Just an idea here, but Bezos should then also buy the Bulls and he can build a basketball stadium on the AH site. Bulls and Bears sports mecca (with shopping, hotels, bars, restaurants, and a Chicago sports museum) would really be something.

To be clear, I don't have any particular complaints about Brown.
The upgrade in the offense the last couple games is mildly encouraging.

Shanahan and the 49ers are currently enjoying a season in hell, I can't imagine the 49ers would fire him... But if they did, he would be my absolute #1 choice.

For me the problem, Richie , is that this isn't the first time. We've lost a lot of games now under Flus in situations like this. Something like 6 games in the last two minutes with a 95% chance of winning. I usually am able to overlook some of the coaching decisions that fans get excited about, but ...
