Re: Poll: Addressing RB
Yeah why would anyone want too many elite skill players on the offense - that's always been a recipe for disaster. Does it matter how good the RB is if the RT ends up in his lap as he is taking the handoff? Herbert - 5.7 ypc Foreman - 4.5 ypc How many RBs do they need capable of shouldering the loa...

Re: 2023 Free Agency News / Rumors / Transactions
Was pretty active on one of the predecessor boards (monsters of the midway, I think it was called) This board was started by a core group of members (myself included) who left Monsters of the Webway (or Webyway Monsters or whatever it was) after the admin lost his marbles. And I thank you in my min...

Re: DL Reconstruction…so far
First round running back, no thanks. With Herbert and Foreman that would be a complete waste of a pick if you want this to be a complete team sometime in the future.

Re: 2023 Free Agency News / Rumors / Transactions
After much reading and teeth gnashing, I've finally come to the conclusion that Poles is quietly building this team mainly thru the draft, not free agency. We will see improvement in '23. Perhaps a playoff run. But Poles will continue in the same vein in this manner in adding guys in '24, '25, etc....

Re: 2023 Free Agency News / Rumors / Transactions
If nobody is freaking out, tell me why it’s brought up by the same 3-4 people every single thread. If you truly believe this team can compete right now, then you believe they added a ton of talent already in comparison of last season. I think they can compete, and I think they still have holes to f...

Re: 2023 Free Agency News / Rumors / Transactions
2 d line starters and 1 o line starter is not unreasonable out of the draft. That's borderline unreasonable IMO. You can get 3-5 starters year 1 starters in a draft but doing it at specific needs will be tough. Poles should/will sign some vets. We can be disappointed he didn't get the "high up...

Re: 2023 Free Agency News / Rumors / Transactions
Two points: 1) Yes, teams jump from last to first all the time in the NFL. That's not an unrealistic objective to have at all. 2) See my prior post for the actual point being made. I'm not being argumentative, I'm honestly curious how you view the specific argument I'm making. I suppose there's a 3...

Re: 2023 Free Agency News / Rumors / Transactions
I just think he’s in no rush to start winning. He needs to realize that you can play the long game AND try to compete at the same time. Signing a proven vet to bridge your draft picks doesn’t destroy your long term vision. He’s not trying to compete with this DL. Cosigned. Poles is squandering JF1'...

Re: 2023 Free Agency News / Rumors / Transactions
You and I see this the same way. There’s no reason not to! Even if he isn’t a perfect fit. Even if his price is a little bit higher than Poles wants. Even if he wants to “build through the draft “. All of those things are great, but if you have far more cap room than anyone else, and you have a gla...

Re: Jalen Carter at 9, what say you?
Hard Pass. If you have an established D line and he is the icing on the cake you can take him. I don't think you can count on him fully given how he showed up for Pro Day. I expect some excuse about an illness to pop up shortly, that either kept him from training or affected him that day. It will be...

There is every option under the sun, but the draft is heavy with good D and O line prospects that can start right away. It’s also the biggest need area of the team.

I think it’s better than 50% the #9 pick ends up being a trade down to grab another 2nd & possibly 3rd.

Re: Moving Forward.....
Here is what I see from what has been done in FA and where the draft will go. So a line of Jones, Jenkins, Whitehair, Davis & upper draft pick with Patrick & Borom as backups sounds a lot better than last season when they rolled out with an unproven 5th rnd pick at LT, an injured center/guar...

Re: Bears sign DT Andrew Billings
Flus and Poles are so full of crap. Here's what they said at the beginning of the month as to what they look for in defensive linemen: Bears general manager Ryan Poles and head coach Matt Eberflus met with the media at the NFL Scouting Combine, where they discussed exactly what they’re looking for ...

Re: Bears sign DT Andrew Billings
Do the hand ringing members not realize Poles is going to hit D Line hard in the draft. Or should they sign 9 guys to cut 7 of them after the draft so we have more dead money going forward.

Didn't listen to the interview directly, but some stuff I read people are making it sound like it's not so definitive of an idea and was more coach speak about finding right mix. I guess it's in play, but whether it's "likely" v "possible"... You're probably trying to read tea l...

Re: Moving Forward.....
I will wait to be very critical until the full package of FA, trades and the draft plays out. There are more starting FA’s to sign at many positions that are available. Every starter poles gets now is one more spot free’d up for the draft regardless of position. My prediction is that most of our D l...

Re: Montgomery headed to Detroit
I get the feeling Monty wanted to go somewhere he was going to be the man. DeAndre Swift will still be RB1 in Detroit. I am going to say this is fairly incorrect. He has never been RB1. He got 99 carries last season to williams 262, has never topped more than 151 in his career, is going into the la...

Re: Montgomery headed to Detroit
It takes two to tango. I get the feeling Monty wanted to go somewhere he was going to be the man. With Herbert, fields and this offense he was never going to put up big numbers at all. Plus it was his hometown. As much as I liked Monty, and I would have been ok at 7 to 8 million a season, running ba...

Re: Seems Day 1 is over....where from here?
I think there will be 2-3 more Demarcus Walker-esque signings and the rest will come through the draft. I don't think 2-3 more Walker types gets them quite where they need to be on a cash basis. I think one more big one in the $15M+- likely Brown or McGary would be needed. If not one more big one, ...
