Which can also be read, "I'm guessing he's 'slower than molasses' in January though." Just don't use him in the playoffs.

Re: Excited Delirium Over Fields

Back on JF1... don't know if any of you all follow him on social media but I'm enjoying it. He's clearly immersing himself in Chicago and stepping right into the shoes of a role model. Kid is dripping with leadership and poise - just really natural and totally fit for the stage. I don't know if the ...

I couldn't be happier for him. And now that he's on the right vector in his career, and off the one that was causing us pain... it's a Win : Win. Goodness.

Re: Nagy optimism

QBR is partially a function of the performance of the overall team performance. It is insane to say that 2018 Mitch would still be QB here now unless you ALSO say that the Bears would sustain an all time great D (not just #1 for that year but top 20 ALL TIME D) for this entire time. Which would have...

Re: Excited Delirium Over Fields

Winston is a terrific QB if he can make some better decisions. He really can do it all. His personality or maturity for the purposes of this discussion is irrelevant. Daniel is a competent QB with physical limitations (now age) on what he can really do as more than a spot starter. Mitch is a terrifi...

Re: Vildor Shining Early

I really liked Graham, and never understood how they let him go. Sure Tillman and Jennings were locked in, and DJ Moore was pretty good. But the DB depth at that time wasn't great. I always kind of wondered if he just wasn't a Lovie guy - Lovie absolutely had his favorites. Graham had a great caree...

It would be amazing if Butt was healthy and could play. I'm guessing he's slower than molasses in January though. Can we sign him up with Monty's speed guru? Along with Horsted and Newsome?

Re: Vildor Shining Early

It would be nice if one of the 452 DBs we drafted in the late rounds the past 10 years finally panned out. And one that was actually pretty good - Corey Graham - we got rid of his ass. I really liked Graham, and never understood how they let him go. Sure Tillman and Jennings were locked in, and DJ ...

Re: Excited Delirium Over Fields

Mitch said in his first presser with Buffalo that he wanted a place where he’d have a chance to compete for a job, but no one wanted him and it was surprising to him that it went down that way. He took less than Chase Daniel money to play a pure backup role - there’s no sugar coating it. The league...

Re: Nagy optimism

The "you need to tailor your offense to the abilities of the QB" assumes that a viable modern NFL offense can be built around that QB. But if the QB has flaws that disallow required capabilities in today's NFL, you haven't met that baseline. And at that point it becomes incredible to point...

Re: Nagy optimism

It is absolutely 100% TRUE that Nagy did not tailor his offense to the NVP. Nagy explained exactly why ... "I didn't come here to run the I Formation". Put simply, Nagy realized that by attempting to make Trubisky look serviceable he was dooming himself. So his thought process was "s...

Re: Nagy optimism

That's exactly right, Plank. In today's NFL you need to be able to generate SO much offense that you can piss away a few opportunities and not complain about them too much because you're putting up 30 points regardless.

Re: Nagy optimism

And we lost against New Orleans 21-9. Mitchell had a 96.8 rating that game. This isn't the first time you've said this. New Orleans was winning that game 21-3 until the Bears scored with 0 seconds on the clock to end the game. Trubisky threw for 199 yards and 1 TD, again which was on the last play ...

Re: Akiem Hicks looks in shape

All I've got to say is that two years ago, my older son pointed excitedly at the tv when the camera panned to Hicks and yelled "Dad! That guy looks just like you!" Now he's eight, and I'm 40 pounds heavier after the pandemic, and fucking Hicks looks like that, and I'm just going to eat a ...

Re: Nagy optimism

Tenn, NE, and Baltimore were the only teams in the league at 50% or better running the ball. It's just not very common at all. League avg seems to be roughly 58/59% pass. Nagy was at 62 last year, not far off and a bit higher than his previous two seasons (which I believe is due to the line issues ...

Re: Akiem Hicks looks in shape

This is great news IMO. I never understood those that wanted us to cut Hicks, the dude is one of our most important players. Assuming Goldman plays, our DL is set to be the best in the NFL IMO. Nichols/Goldman/Hicks is an absolute MONSTER. With Khalil friggin Mack on the edge? I mean, cmon that's g...

Re: Nagy optimism

I'd prefer to be closer to a 50:50 ratio overall, with a bit higher passing ratio in first halves and higher running ratio in second halves. The overall ratio doesn't tell you much. If you're 60:40 but start out running more & then end up pass heavy because you're losing, that sucks. So yeah NFL...

Re: Nagy: No circumstance that Fields starts week 1

Every team is going to handle a rookie QB differently. The Chiefs sat Mahomes, Russell Wilson outcompeted a veteran QB and won the starting job. Nagy would do the team a disservice if he really closes the door on Fields being able to win the starting job. He's just trying to do an artful dance unti...

Coming to camp pushing 400 and cringy dumb-ass penalties that cost the team at important times is *sorta* like not giving a shit. Sometimes these guys let their emotions get the best of them. Re: Nagy: No circumstance that Fields starts week 1

Dalton should start until Fields is ready AND can do more for the team than Dalton. IF that was clearly week 1 (e.g., if Fields demonstrated that in camp and preseason), then so be it. If he's looking good but needing time, by all means start Dalton as long as Dalton can do better. The caveat here i...

Re: Jake Butts - Zach Miller 2.0???

Butt was awesome at Michigan. One of the only fun things to watch about the team, and it's been pretty ugly here for a long time in Ann Arbor lol. If he was truly healthy, I'd love to see him on the Bears. Like UOK said, he's had like 4 ACL injuries and has really not played in 4 years and hardly pr...

It is possible he opted out for more than just asthma. If he has some immune deficiency or sickle cell gene he may not be able to be vaccinated. If that is the case, he doesn't have irrational fear and could be legitimately at risk. Let's give the guy a break he might just be wanting that extra time...
