Re: Abandon All Hope Ye Who Enter Here: 2023 Concerns

This is my best case scenario too. I've been looking at this season as analogous development-wise to 1984... they make some noise and the playoffs, but are only a little over .500 and still need pieces. Those picks next year TMP are huge. And the cap/budget is huge. The Bears picked up a few key pi...

Re: The Tyson Bagent Thread

Check out the folks trying to poison the wall against ANY conversation about wanting to see Bagent play (if that ever came up). I get it I get it - any criticism of the starter means you're stupid. And any mention of the backup - no matter what happens - means you're a dumb homer. I have to tell you...

Re: Roster Moves: Countdown to 53

Wow, Bagent has never faced anything even remotely resembling an NFL defense and he's a fully baked QB! Meanwhile people are hedging their bets left and right on if Justin Fields can average more than 200yds/game in his third season. It's going to be an extremely weird year. It's already an extreme...

Re: Abandon All Hope Ye Who Enter Here: 2023 Concerns

Basically.....I have none. The team has improved. The Vegas over/under is 7.5 wins. If that's all the better they play we're not competitive enough to even win the NFCN yet. So why am I gonna worry about a team that wins 7-8 games in 2023. We're still rebuilding and we're not there yet. If I have t...

I don't think they looked around for a better vet at all. I mean of course they watch all positions - but they had a plan for what they had, from the start. I believe they always meant to bring Peterman back because he wouldn't be claimed - as I said before cutdown that made the most sense (they wer...

Hey I wanted to come back to this because it is interesting to me that people think this way. I don't necessarily agree with it. I don't think the particular wrungs of a ladder a guy uses to climb up is an indication of what he strictly is. Of course they have to do a good job of managing a particu...

I know many (most?) don't... but I kind of like Walker, Yannick, Lewis Green and Robinson. I'm also bullish on the DTs especially the young guys. It is now fully Poles' DL. ...at least to the extent that he makes it so. A pattern might be emerging here, at least when it comes to DEs, of valuing thi...

One good thing about the now longer NFL season is most QBs dont' start every game, and all the backup QB fans get to see what they should have been careful to ask for.

I love Bagent but I don't want to see him unless JF1 is resting for the playoffs.

Re: Roster Moves: Countdown to 53

The practice squad is completely random. Filled with players who are weird fits or don’t really have a position. It’s very odd. Not only that, but guys who were on the roster ahead of another player who went to PS...then the first guy gets cut after a last minute move and...doesn't even receive a P...

The DJ Moore effect. DJ wills it to happen with some late game-winning fireworks consisting of a short pass, broken tackles, and an epic race to the end zone.

Re: Roster Moves: Countdown to 53

I can't imagine the bears carrying 7 WRs through the whole season. Is this simply an effort to buy a few more weeks for Scott or Jones to learn how to catch punts? What are you guys predicting? No, 7 is unreasonable. I think it's got to be either Claypool to IR or ESB out. Distant 3rd would be Velu...

Man, I'm bullish on the LBs! I really like the two new guys, and think that TJ is going to be a surprising beast at Will. I really like Sanborn a lot, and really like Sewell too... so aren't they decent depth? I mean nobody is going to be able to play center field like Edmunds if he went out (maybe...

Kindle Vildor gets a roster spot - claimed off waivers by the Titans I figured that would happen. He doesn't completely suck, and is decent depth I think. I still like the move to upgrade at CB, and think they will continue to do that via the draft. Son of a Bitch! https://www.prideofdetroit.com/20...

Re: Abandon Hope All Ye Who Enter Here: 2023 Concerns

LB - I've mentioned this a few times, but the lack of depth here is terrifying. DL - I'm not SUPER concerned about the DL as a whole, but the pass rush will be what holds this defense back. I don't really understand what they are doing from a philosophical standpoint, other than selling out to stop...

When people are trying hard not to understand you, you sometimes find yourself in a position of repeating yourself over & over - only to have them repeatedly mischaracterize what you've said because they don't want to acknowledge what you said. That's where we're at here. For TWO YEARS I've said...

I agree I remember Rosie rushing as an extra guy mostly. I know we're worried about the unproven DL. But I think they'll get serious push inside especially with the two young bucks coming in with incredible energy and wreaking havoc. From that I believe very good things will follow. I believe that i...

Yes, I am agreeing with these thoughts and I do realize it. I have concerns too! I'm just not going to make some dramatic pivot based on a few preseason throws. I'll wait until roughly 1/4 of the season before I start pontificating about drafting a QB next year or starting Rudy at QB. The point, th...

Seriously people. I'm under the impression that 99% of us have been watching football for decades. Decades. All of you have to know by now that the preseason doesn't mean shit. On Jenk I won't give up on him if he comes back this season and plays most (like 11 or 12 of 13) of the games & plays how he did last year. That is valuable. Guys get hurt, and sometimes snakebit guys end up stabilizing. Also young guys grow up and get more professional (or many do). If he doesn...

Weird how we chose a Cover 2 coach who prefers Dick Jauron's line. Robinson-Washington-Traylor-Daniels clicked like mad that one year when they were all healthy, but we also blitzed like crazy: our starting LBs had more sacks than our entire line and our safeties had just half a sack fewer than our...
