Nothing better then a great book.
Two of my favs
A Fine Balance - Rohinton Mistry. Once past the first 100 pages of character intro, etc it is amazing.

Re: How far would you go for Watson?
I am 100% in on getting Watson. He IMO represents our best opportunity to be a consistent NFC Superbowl threat. Plus, it terrifies me to think, after all the years of GB killing us, a team like Minny gets him and we get our asses kicked for the next 12 years by them. Those picks we saved aren't goin...

Re: Endless Trubisky/Foles Thread
Yea no interest in Sudfeld. And I agree I’d prefer to draft a guy and let him sit a year, but I don’t but that as any excuse for why Mitch failed here. That happened 4 years ago. What exactly would he have learned sitting behind Glennon that he didn’t learn by playing? If anything playing early sho...

Re: End-of-Season Fallout // General Discussion
Financially, there's just not much room for anything. The Bears will, and (unfortunately) should, stand pat for one more year. Yeah, it sucks for fans, but the Bears aren't competing for a super bowl next season. Take a lineman and a couple WR's early, let Pace/Nagy ride out one more season, and re...

Re: Would the Bears trade for Watson?
Love the kid. The contract is an albatross and would need to be restructured after next year when it pops to $35MM (assuming it can be at least a little). Since next year's first rounder will likely be a QB in search of a franchise QB, I see no reason to be too concerned about including it in a tra...

Re: Wild Card // Bears @ Saints
Same game plan as Green Bay. Deflate the football and control the clock. This time we have to capitalize on our defensive opportunities for turnovers, if there are any. Same story on offense. Red zone opportunities have to be converted into TDs, not FGs. The window to winning is pretty narrow, but i...

If I'm forced to pick between trading for Wentz or trading for Darnold, I suppose I'd pick Wentz. If I'm forced to pick between keeping Mitch one more year or trading for Wentz or Darnold, I'm probably just keeping Mitch. If its Wentz or Darnold, I also go Wentz. If its Mitch or one of the 2 trades...

Re: Endless Trubisky/Foles Thread
I know that it's not a thing that will happen, but I read it on Twitter and it made me think... Bears franchise ARob, and send him, along with Daniels to the Eagles for Wentz. I don't think I'd do it, but it was interesting. I would do it. His problems IMO are related to expectations/pressure. He i...

Re: Wk 17 // Bears lose, of course, to Packers in season finale
I get it that everyone is disappointed in their "elite" defense but it wouldn't have mattered today - the Packers have a season low of 22 points and that would have been enough! Everyone is being way too easy on the offense. The Packers have an average D and the Bears had to scrape and cl...

They will never franchise Mitch, nor should they.
If they did though, the QB market reverberations that would run through the NFL would be wild.

Re: Pace/Nagy/Phillips/McCaskey general thread
If the staff is held onto, one or both, I have an irrational fear that they maybe inclined to try to make a bold draft move to protect their jobs. An OT is nice, but even if he is good, this offense is still going to be bottom half, bottom third of the NFL. That coupled with a declining defense migh...

Read that and ask yourself if you trust Pace to draft the next QB of the future. Yikes Better fire him and get a new coach and start all over again because the team's 23-12 under Nagy, and that's not good enough. Harsh. I don't think for a second he should be gone, but a miss that cost the team tha...

All that draft capital and all that time spent trying to develop Mitch, only to be back to square one. It is a tough bitter pill to swallow.
At least the page can be turned and a new QB can be looked forward too, some day.

Re: Who starts at QB in week 1 of the regular season?
Mitch starts for 2 reasons. Offseason circumstances and we open against the Lions. That said, after 40 starts, 1300 attempts, thousands of hours of study and practice the book is written on him. At least in this coaching staffs eyes, IMO. They will be looking for any opportunity to replace him. Ther...

Hated Benson. Every thing about him, from where he was draft, to why he was drafted ( who knows), to his lack of versatility when the RB position was evolving. Terrible pick. Hated Michael Haynes too. A 2 gap DE drafted as we turn to a one gap team, ugh. Plus we past on Troy Polamalu. While sort of ...

Skins surprise and draft Tua @ 2. Bears flip a second for Haskins. Foles & Trubisky battle it out all season while Haskins sits at #3 and learns. Following season we roll with Haskins backed up by Foles, for better or worse. Upside: Bears have their assumed QB of the future for a 2nd rounder. Do...

Re: Mitch Trubisky & General Quarterback Banter
QB experience shouldn't be measured by year or starts. Pass attempts is the key. Throw out the first 1000 attempts of any QB. Look at pass attempts 1000 to 1500 and that indicates who a QB is. 99% of the time it will mirror what their career numbers will end up being.

Re: Bears need real help at RB
As I see it our RB situation is serviceable. An upgrade would be nice but we have more pressing needs. Our biggest issue running isnt RB related IMO. It is the lack of respect defenses show for our ability to pass the ball. When defenses can play down hill all game, this is how running the ball can ...

Like the optimism WindyCity but I don't know if the Urlacher comparison is a very good one. First, Urlacher walked into an ideal situation for him. The NFL was hot & heavy into the big fat two-gapping DT's and we had 2 good ones (Big Ted & Traylor) keeping him clean. Shea will not be protect...
