Who knows - but on the Hoge and Jahns podcast they were saying that Fields and Getsy actually really liked each other.
BTW, Fields just started following DK Metcalf on IG ... I know, I know. Grasping at straws.

Re: 2024 NFL Free Agency chatter, there will be punch and pie
I still think there is a lukewarm market for Fields: New England, Las Vegas and possibly the Giants. I'd actually be very interested in seeing JF1 in Daboll's offense.

You can't trade Mooney, he's a free agent.Bears Whiskey Nut wrote: ↑Mon Mar 11, 2024 10:05 amTrade Mooney and a 2nd round pick for Higgins. He's only 25, and a proven NFL commodity. You'd essentially be getting a better than Odunze WR for a 2nd rounder.

Re: Some Free Agent ideas, your thoughts?
The Chargers enter FA 21 million over the cap and are expected to make some heavy cuts. Mike Williams ($32M cap hit), Keenan Allen ($34M cap hit), Joey Bosa ($36M cap hit), and Khalil Mack ($38M cap hit) are all candidates. I think they are trying to trade Mack and Bosa though. Wonder if the Bears ...

I'm a Season Ticket Holder and from where I live, it's 24.8 miles to the Arlington Heights site and 23.2 miles to Soldier Field. So I don't have a horse in the game on getting to the stadium - on a Sunday morning, traffic into the City is fine. But are they just going to forfeit all that ancillary r...

Haynes - UConn developmental Guard - Reps at Center were markedly worse than at Guard - Did get his helmet ripped off and stayed in the mix. Haynes is a player I like in the 3rd round as possibly the long term center. With the trade of Bates, perhaps he could be someone they look at as a developmen...

Re: Bears sign CB Jaylon Johnson to 4yr, $76m extension
When you can get a long-term deal done for less AAV than the Franchise Tag - that's good work by Poles and Company. Agents like to argue that the Tag Number is the floor. That's a big guarantee they gave him and that's what moved JJ off "resetting the market" ... "do you want to "...

Re: Loosest of speculation: Bears may push to sign RB Saquon Barkley
The Giants OL last year made the Bears OL in 2021 look like the Cowboys in the 90s. I dunno. That would have to be a very small exaggeration. And go back more than 1 year. Over the last 4 years, David Montgomery has put up better numbers than Barkley. You have to go back 5-6 years to get to when Ba...

Re: Loosest of speculation: Bears may push to sign RB Saquon Barkley
I'd rather overpay at high impact positions (3T, DE, WR) than drop coin at RB where we are serviceable - Herbert, when healthy, is a big play back. I do think we need a Joker/Change of Pace/3rd Down back, ala Tarik Cohen (RIP Tarik's Career). Bucky Irving from Oregon is the guy I target in mocks now...

Re: Russel Wilson idea
There's so many similarities between Russ's game and Justin's. It feels hard to believe if we're getting rid of Justin that we'd replace him (even as a mentor) with an older model. Russ can't move like he used to. Or throw like he used to. But in the right system, he can still have success. I think...

Braden Fiske is a guy I really like this year. Tested and measured really well at the Combine .... measured first among all DTs in Athletic Score at the Combine.
Unfortunately, we don't have a pick when he is coming off the board (early 2nd is my guess).

I would love to put together a super team of players who were massively hyped going into the draft and then ended up late rounders/udfa's. James Brown is definitely starting at Guard on this team.

That's fair criticism. I do think Feeney was a good calculated risk, but it turns out he wasn't, so with hindsight it wasn't a good trade.

Re: JJ decision must be made by 4pm ET
Curious how fans on this board feel : Do you think Poles should let JJ reset the CB market given that he is widely considered to be the number one free agent corner in an offseason where the Bears are flush with cap space and the salary cap just went up an unprecedented $30M per team? Re: Bears trade 5th rd pick to Bills for OL Ryan Bates
I really don't see any correlation between trades for Bates and trading out of the 9th pick. I am a little surprised that he didn't take a harder look at Brian Allen who just got released by the Rams: McVay scheme, local kid, under 30, etc. I'm usually a trade down advocate - but the Bears are a poi...

Re: Bears trade 5th rd pick to Bills for OL Ryan Bates
I don't mind the move - Bates has really good interior line versatility. I don't think this precludes the Bears in any way drafting a C - in fact, it's a really good plan if they do. I'm not going to sweat losing a 5th round pick - pretty sure Poles can recoup if there is someone he loves there. Wit...

He jumped pretty well and has good size.
I knew he was slow, but I didn't know he was 4.6 slow. Route running can go a long way - Anquan Bolden ran a 4.71 - he might not get drafted today.

Atlanta will want to trade down. And although I'm hoping that the Falcons would pony up a R2 pick for Fields, but that looks increasingly unlikely. Maybe a 3rd and a pick in 2025. Agree, wab. To get a R2, someone else is going to have to show interest, be it Pittsburgh, Las Vegas or New England. Mi...

If the Falcons offer their R2 (11) and an 8/9 swap in R1 for JF1 - I'm jumping on that offer. Whether or not McCarthy jumps into the Top 8 probably determines if one of the Big 3 WRs is there - which is my preference. Otherwise, there will still be some monster talent on the board (DE, OT specifical...

All over the country, Towns and Countys are raising property tax assessments. My area just had a county wide 12% increase in all rural areas because of budget shortfalls from the state level.
