Re: Bears have fired Matt Eberflus
If the McCaskeys were serious, they would have let their checkbook convince him. This is the correct answer. I don't know why folks would give them any benefit of doubt here, they've gone the safe/cheap route over and over again. There's no reason to believe the line that Harbaugh wouldn't come her...

Re: Ryan Day Flops Again
I've been in hundreds of fights and the vast majority were over "disrespect". I don't say that as a brag...it's honestly a fact I'm quite embarrassed by now as an adult. It's something that truly fills me with regret. In the words of Dalton - No one ever really wins a fight. Restraint and ...

Re: Pass Rush
JMO but it would be in the best interest of the franchise to play Kiran the rest of the way at LT. If we are comfortable enough with him being our primary swing tackle, then we should be confident enough to put him out there as a starter and see what he can do as we head into the offseason. Don't w...

Re: Bears Coaching Search - 2025
The only - and unlikely - path Brown has to returning to the Bears as an OC is if they hire a defensive guy as HC. Brown either stays as HC or he goes to another team. I see no realistic alternatives other than that. Yeah. OC under Ben Johnson would be a big step backward for Brown at this point. I...

Re: Bears have fired Matt Eberflus
Brad Biggs just reported Harbaugh had no interest in the Bears job if it was open last season. So, yeah. Buy it  Still not buying it. Seems hard to believe if we paid him aggressively that he wouldn't come back to a charter franchise, one of the largest media cities in the world, a franshise h...

Re: Pass Rush
O line absolutely has to be the first pick. This line needs upgrades for Caleb. The team invested in a franchise QB, now they must better protect that investment. They need an immediate starter with that first pick, and another immediate starter in free agency. They can get a potential starter at D...

Re: Thomas Brown: Interim Head Coach
There’s a timeline in the universe where I believe Emery/Trestman could have succeeded if they hadn’t been saddled with an aging roster that hated them just because they weren’t Lovie Smith.

Re: Bears Coaching Search - 2025
So he's detailed, incredibly detailed. He's a "cool guy, perfectionist, wants everyone to be great". He's also a "realist" who "pushes and challenges" his offense to get "the best" out of them. Veterans like Allen Robinson say he's seen so much growth, even w...

Re: Tankathon 2024
I think DP was talking about the record. Achievable? Sure. Likely...no.
If Brown can lead this team to a 3-2 record over the next 5 games, I think that would be considered an absolute success. 4 of the 5 remaining teams are currently the 1/3/5/6 seeds. That's a tough stretch.

Re: Bears have fired Matt Eberflus
Man, I know Ben Johnson is the darling of the hiring cycle...but I'm just not there yet with him. I can't put my finger on it. I like how innovative and creative his offense is, but there just feels like something is missing. Is it because he's an intellectual? Is it because his mentors are John Sh...

Re: Thomas Brown: Interim Head Coach
To be clear, I don't have any particular complaints about Brown. The upgrade in the offense the last couple games is mildly encouraging. But VIRTUALLY EVERYONE who comes in as HC or GM is greeted with "X - I love it!", "It's so great to finally have a guy who gets Y", "Afte...

Re: Kevin Warren & Ryan Poles Press Conference: 12/2/24 @ 11:45am
I think it was more in terms of what offense he would run and how he would go about implementing it. Because the offense he was running was absolutely not what was sold to everyone when he was hired. People oversell their qualifications all the time. It's why so many coaches get fired every year. W...

Re: Ryan Poles question
Both Tonyan and Everett were/are near the ends of their respective careers. Tonyan also had a HOF QB he was working with. It's also just a comedy of errors. From Getsy designing a timing-based offense around a QB like Fields who is not a timing QB, to Waldron completely going rogue and designing an...

Re: Kevin Warren & Ryan Poles Press Conference: 12/2/24 @ 11:45am
With how insular of a community as the NFL is, how can someone possibly blame Waldron for lying his way onto the job? There's an extensive network of guys you can talk to outside of the formal interviews. There's a massive public record of his coordinating record. How surprised can you get. Maybe a...

Re: Kevin Warren & Ryan Poles Press Conference: 12/2/24 @ 11:45am
Some of my observations from the presser: The audio for this press conference is horrible, very soft and poor quality. Microphones aren't angled correctly. C'mon, guys. Poles is giving off a vibe of being pissed off and embarrassed, which I appreciate I guess. Big endorsement of Poles from Warren, ...

Said? No. But it seemed clear to me that Poles' authority has been seriously undermined by Warren and it's clear Warren will decide on the head coach but Poles will take the fall if he doesn't pan out. Poles comes across as an honest and thoughtful man. Warren strikes me as a guy who will protect h...

Without even saying anything, that presser told me that Poles is probably on a short leash and has had some of his authority stripped. We will find out if that's good or bad. Agreed. But I think that Warren is doing in that to help and mentor Poles. Yeah, I'm not saying it's inherently bad. But Pol...

Re: Kevin Warren & Ryan Poles Press Conference: 12/2/24 @ 11:45am
I like Poles too, but he does appear shaken by the whole thing. I think this world lacks good human beings, and Poles seems to be one of them. But at the same time, I worry that he doesn't have the hard line in him all the time.
