Re: Justin Fields Megathread - A story of Lovers and Haters

I don’t want to put too much of last night on Fields either. He faced a lot of pressure and that will be tough on any QB. But again, if you’re the guy, at some point you’ve got to be an asset out there. If you can’t be the type of QB who gets rid of the ball quickly and accurately to negate pressure...

Re: WK 18 // Bears (7-9) @ Packers (8-8)

Bears are playing well enough that they should have a very good chance to win this game.
Still, we've been here so many times. I have very little confidence they'll actually pull it off.

Packers 31
Bears 19

Re: Justin Fields Megathread - A story of Lovers and Haters

This is so true. Bears win, quiet. What’s always fascinated me about this behavior is if we had a Packers fan lurking on here, it’s the exact behavior I’d expect to see from a Packers troll. Didn't we add like 3 Pages to this thread this week? I personally had like a 6 post combo (5 Praising Fields...

Re: Jordan Love or Justin Fields?

This is not a comment on Fields, but I remember similar situation back on CBfans when we were comparing the stats of Orton and Rodgers that one year before we traded for Cutler. Orton was doing ok, and Rodgers hadn't really taken off yet, but had maybe slightly better stats through the first half of...

I think there's one big evaluation left before a decision can be made.
We all know what that is.

I'm with Yogi on "top QB performances I have seen"

I struggle to decide which of his 1 pass TDs was best, honestly.

It was a good game. But let's not get crazy and ask for two in a row.

Re: Bears are officially on the clock...

Penix being left handed will mean changing offense some. Also ball spins away from receiver which can be a issue with some especially in windy poor weather conditions. line blocking will mean changes also as does handoffs. Blocking will need to account for opposite tendencies. Penix looked very goo...

Re: Worth a gander...

A couple other interesting points Lucas made: 1. Poles was director of college scouting at KC when they moved up with conviction to draft Mahomes. He’s not going to shy away from making a move in the draft for a QB he likes. 2. The Fields decision is really a contract decision. If you pay a top 10-1...

Re: Justin Fields Megathread - A story of Lovers and Haters

Imo, Fields isn’t quite done making his case. The same, ostensibly, should be said of Eberflus. The Packers just manhandled the Vikings in Minnesota. Jordan Love tore apart Flores’ defense. He has 30 TD passes. Let’s see Justin build upon today - outplay Love, beat Green Bay for the first time. Sun...

Take it a step further - if Lawrence (same contract year as Fields and actually costs a bit more) were on the market The bidding starts at multiple 1sts and there would be multiple bidders. So why is Fields so great - but the market doesn't recognize it? How do we know what his market is? The "...

Re: Draft Season is Already Upon Us

Wonder if there's any way we could trade out of Williams, and still end up with both Brock Bowers and MHJ?

You'd essentially have the ultimate offense at that point regardless of QB.
Kmet's on a reasonable deal and is a good blocker, so I don't think that'd preclude drafting a receiving weapon TE.

What if we keep Fields, load up at WR and OL but add Russ to the mix?

Re: WK 17 // Bears (6-9) vs. Falcons (7-8)

Fields' last home game at Soldier Field? Hoge and Jahns sort of leaning that way.

These teams sort of mirror each other with tough defenses and inconsistent QB play. If it comes down to that, Fields is better than Heinicke, so we should have the edge being at home.

Tough one to call. 23-20 Bears.

Re: Justin Fields Megathread - A story of Lovers and Haters

Or the 2022 Eagles' offense, take your pick. I've said thia before, but: Getsy has redsigned the Bears' offense specifically around Fields previously (see the end of 2022), and hasn't done that since. And at this point he clearly won't. He doesn't have the personnel that the Eagles have, of course,...

Recency bias: Sure.
But a good measuring stick against how we started the year and an opponent in a similar situation.
I think it could significantly add to the evaluation.

Re: So...what happens next?

I think if we get embarrassed by the Packers, Eberflus could still get fired. I think if Fields puts the team on his back and beats the Packers, he could still be here next year. If things play out as they have been.. defense looks good but the offense isn't particularly effective, I think Fields ge...

Re: Justin Fields Megathread - A story of Lovers and Haters

I've been saying that there are some Fields and Cutler similarities for a while now. I think it's that with both guys, you can see that there's something extra there that other QBs don't have, it's just that you can't consistency unlock it. So frustrating. Anyhow, late in the game down by a score? C...

Re: WK 16 // Bears (5-9) vs. Cardinals (3-11)

When we say he took his foot off the gas, we can actually prove it. We passed the ball 10 times. 10. Getsy calls the plays. These are facts that cannot be disputed and don't have to be exaggerated. If the anti-Fields crowd wants to be taken more seriously by the pro-Fields crowd, the way to do that...

Ok. Well, nobody said having the best QB "always" equates to winning it all and I even pointed out examples of this earlier. Good for you. The point is whether or not JF1 is Good Enough to build around. That should be the hurdle to either keep him or move on. Since you posted the meaningl...

I'm not quite sure what the point is here... Brady isn't perfect? Look Eli is an HOF QB as well who came up HUGE at the end of those games. Foles is a bit of an outlier sure, but they don't call him BDN for no reason. Do we need to go over Fields 4th quarter stats? His comebacks? Justin "Good ...

Re: Let's say we go 2-0 or 1-1 to finish

The fact that Tom Brady wins superbowls does not take away from the fact that great QBs win superbowls. It adds to it. I don't get what y'all are smoking. Tom Brady is 0-2 against Eli Manning in the Super Bowl. The GOAT also lost to Nick Foles in the Super Bowl. Why is that? At some point, the QB p...
