Re: Possible Trade Scenarios for #1
I must be a deep-insider because I was saying that the top pick combined with non needing a QB indicates it is highly likely the Bears trade out of that spot. And I ALSO have been saying that trading the top pick could net a wealth of other picks that would be really good for the team going forward...

Re: Hester Falls Short in First Hall of Fame Bid
Contrast that with Emmitt Smith who had the good fortune to play his prime years behind one the finest offensive lines of all time and with a HoF QB and WR, not to mention a Pro Bowl FB and TE. Was he a greater RB than Walter? Very few would argue that case. You forgot to mention that Walter was a ...

Re: Bears have 2nd best pass blocking OL in the NFL
PFF has us at 16th with a pass blocking grade of 68.2. Oddly, we are better than several post season contenders including the Vikings, Bills and Bengals.
The Eagles are #1 with a grade of 83.8
The Jets beat us out for last place for passing offense.

Re: How Far Back Would You Trade From #1?
I think a lot depends on what we do in free agency - if we bolster the DL positions (say sign Payne and Dre'mont Jones), then I'm less worried about maintaining the Carter/Anderson Line (which is probably the Colts at 4) - and would consider other positions in R1 (OL, WR, etc). There are a lot of I...

Re: Who's your late round guy (even UDFA) for the Bears?
PFF flagged Stanford WR Michael Wilson We talked about Stanford’s Michael Wilson a lot in the Day 1 recap, but we had to give him another shoutout on Day 2 for likely bringing us the play of the day. Wilson was once again able to show such a great understanding of how to win at the position with suc...

Re: Would you really trade the Number 1 Pick in the draft?
If I'm Ryan Poles I want to trade down from a top 5 pick every single time. I'd take more picks in the first 2 rounds over a single star prospect without hesitation. We've all seen star prospects fail, we've all seen them get injured. We've also seen plenty of guys taken later in Rounds 1 and 2 who...

Assuming we do a trade down from #1, we're there at 4 to 7, and Anderson is off the board this is my guy. The more video I watch and scouting reports I read I'm convinced this is the way we need to go. Murphy is listed as 6' 5" and 276 pounds, but look at the speed. This is a guy almost the si...

Re: BEARS SECURE #1 OVERALL PICK
Is there any player you would use the #1 pick on if you were Ryan Poles? I’m struggling, maybe Anderson if there were no good trade partners. Anderson has taken some flack because he is too small to be a 4-3 end. Khalil Mack is about 5 pounds heavier and an inch smaller. Mack has 28.5 sacks in 4 ye...

Re: New OL projection
Couple of three points. First, if you believe PFF ( and I know many don't) he had a better rookie year than the four tackles that were drafted (and played) in the first round. Three were picked in the top 10. So if you are looking for an upgrade you would not have found him in this last draft. Secon...

For what's it worth Jones made the PFF all rookie team: Let's be honest, it's not worth that much. The first question has to be how many rookie tackles played a significant number of snaps? I seem to recall Cody Whitehair made the all rookie team as a center. There would have been even less competi...

If you grade Poles on won/lost record is a D at best, but if you grade him on progress made in the initial year of a rebuild I give him a solid B. Anybody see a scenario where Poles deliberately DOES NOT trade the pick? (No, I don't think that's a good idea at all.) Kevin Warren seems to have too many qualifications. Vikes new stadium was built under his watch. Stole USC and UCLA to play on the Big 10 and re-negotiated a giant new media contract for the league. Also experienced the the Rams. Vikes teams, though, were highly successful while he worked for them....

From 2 to 9 is a steep drop so we'd have to get paid pretty seriously to make that work. At 9 we'd be looking at guys like Johnston, the WR from TCU, Johnson the LT from Ohio State or Skoronski from Northwestern. A lot depends upon how FA goes. If Poles does his job and lands a high quality DT and ...

Fields is banged up and I think Getsy keep will try to keep him safe by using his running backs and a few (mostly) quick short passes.
It will work better than it did against Buffalo, but not enough to win.

Line play on both sides of the ball has never been my strong suit. I love the idea of signing Payne in FA and if we can't trade down pairing him with Anderson. But if we trade down a few spots we likely run the risk of missing on Anderson and Carter IMO becomes the BPA and by a good bit. So if we s...
