Re: Caleb Williams News and Rumor thread
TMP is right. What in the heck are we talking about Fields in this Caleb Williams thread for - it just pisses people off all over again. Be a good sport Art - just leave it alone. That's the other half to the equation here. Let's not gang up on Plank or anybody else about JF1. There are people that...

Re: I think we Bears fans are traumatized
One of Odunze or Turner will be there at 9. Take whichever is there and it’s a win.

Re: Caleb Williams News and Rumor thread
Several other scenarios were available, this wasn’t a linear choice. Brother, you got to let this go for now. It's April. It was you and me back-to-back to the end on this, but JF1 is gone. I know as Bears Fans our lives have been riddled with QB bullshit almost too long to list and we still bring ...

Re: Caleb Williams News and Rumor thread
Imo, Justin Fields’ lack of development as a passer made trading back for yet another “haul” unlikely. A struggling 4th year QB with a 5th year option decision looming likely made acquiring a quality oc problematic and set the stage for the kind of QB uncertainty now facing Minnesota and Las Vegas....

Re: Caleb Williams News and Rumor thread
That’s because highly touted QBs still rarely become elite pros. The odds are what they are, and the forecasting is near impossible. Always remember that most GMs had Trubisky a better prospect than Mahomes. Not all, but most. That’s how futile forecasting college QBs is, no matter how much tape yo...

Re: Caleb Williams News and Rumor thread
From Aaron Schatz, a top analytics guy at ESPN: 75% chance that Caleb Williams will be an adequate starter, 21% chance that he's elite: "Williams is the consensus top QB in the draft for good reason. He won the Heisman Trophy in 2022 and followed it up with a very strong 2023. He threw for mor...

Re: Spring/Summer Concerts
Well, a first for me last night. Me, being the good husband I am, attend a concert last night of people I knew nothing about and had never heard any of the artists' music. My wife is a country music fan. Me, not so much. It was Ashley Cooke, Mitchell Tenpenny and Jordan Davis. I can say it was not ...

Re: Is It Too Soon For Thoughts On Pick #9?
One thing that keeps popping up we seldom discuss is the possibility of using 2025 pick(s) to add another Day Two 2024 pick. I'd like to think that Poles has put that in the hopper as well so if a player he has a 1st round grade on drops to where he feels he can make a trade and get him I'd love to...

Re: I think we Bears fans are traumatized
I think the best way to mitigate a traumatized fanbase is to wreak havoc on the opponents. That said, a top 5 defense would go a long way towards gratification - if not fulfillment - at least for me. Last year, of the top 9 defenses using DVOA all made the playoffs. The run stopped at #10, the Jags...

Re: I think we Bears fans are traumatized
If looking narrowly at 2024 season, DE is a significantly bigger need than WR. We already have a top 5 WR duo.
That said, I agree that’s not how Poles will make his decision. He’s paid to think long term and that’s what he will do.

Re: Is It Too Soon For Thoughts On Pick #9?
I think it's Dexter/Pickens, and they should add a backup for Billings in the draft (which should be easier to land a quality player later in the draft).

Re: Offensive Line thoughts
I don't even think this is true. Quite the contrary actually. It's often that you see a guy who played T in college get kicked inside as a rookie and be asked to play multiple spots. These guys are usually backups who are developing but earned a roster spot, and therefore need to have position flex...

Re: Offensive Line thoughts
Pretty sure he was pointing at this part of your post sir.... Then he misread or misunderstood what I posted taking it out of context. What I said and meant was Bates is capable of competing and/or subbing at all three IOL positions. That is something a 5th round rookie would not be expected to do....

Re: 30 Visits
Absolutely. What I don't want is them getting impatient, throwing a R2-4 at a 3T just because "this scheme needs one!" and then having 3 DTs they spent serious picks on and still don't have a stud 3T out of the bunch. Don't spend a pick because you want something. Spend it when you're act...

Re: 30 Visits
I feel like finding an elite 3T is almost as hard as finding an elite QB. There's no Aaron Donald type prospect in this class (at least according to the experts), so chasing that seems foolish to me.

I just realized I was talking about the "getaway" coverage and not the verdict coverage. I remember being beyond pissed that he got away with obvious murder, and thinking that the law doesn't apply to rich people. That remains true to this day.

I was on a bus between buildings on the Anheuser Busch Tour in St Louis. When it was announced we all seemed to shrug our heads in disbelief. Good th...

Re: OJ Simpson - Dead at 76
OJ Simpson has died after a battle with Cancer. That dude just couldn't stay out of trouble, and probably speaks more to his core character than anything else. In my personal opinion he was guilty as shit of the murder of Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman. He did that as sure as I am alive right now. Th...

Re: Is It Too Soon For Thoughts On Pick #9?
I remember in high school once me and a couple buddies went up to the elementary school up the street to play hoops on 8 foot rims so we could dunk like NBA players. A couple youngsters challenged us to play 3 on 3, which was pretty funny and we played along, but one of the kids was cocky AF so we d...

Re: Is It Too Soon For Thoughts On Pick #9?
It's a deep class right? Why not take the DE we need at 9, then just take the best WR at 75? I mean yeah, that's fair, but why not use the deep talent pool to your favor? If you can trade back some and still draft one of the top players on you board, do it. Byron Murphy makes a ton of sense of this...

Re: Is It Too Soon For Thoughts On Pick #9?
I cannot get on board with Rome at 9, when I watch the tape I see a drastic difference between MHJ/Nabors and Rome. If both WRs are gone, I really don’t know who’s tops on my board. As of right now, it might be Verse. I'm glad you said something, he looks good to me but I'm not sure I see 'top 10 p...
