Re: Is It Too Soon For Thoughts On Pick #9?
I think maybe there are 1-2 players that if they were still on the board at #9, would compel Poles to keep the pick. Outside of that I think he's looking to trade down and take an EDGE, C, or WR. I think if Turner or Nabers are there, he'd keep the pick. As much as I like Odunze, I think Poles woul...

Re: 2024 NFL Free Agency chatter, there will be punch and pie
Mike Dana is still out there and would be a good, low cost signing. We need DE drpth This is a great call out...and something I think we'd see if we trade back or don't get a DL in draft....just probably after the draft or day of... I'm sorta surprised Danna is still out there. The Chiefs lined him...

Re: Is It Too Soon For Thoughts On Pick #9?
There are some Day 3 guys who have returned punts too. The best-known is probably Texas A&M's Ainias Smith, but Anthony Gould (Oregon St), Tayvion Robinson (Kentucky), Xay Weaver (Colorado), and Jalen Calhoun (Duke) all have plenty of experience returning punts and some decent production at rec...

Re: Is It Too Soon For Thoughts On Pick #9?
we're going to have a rookie QB with a lot of talented skill players ... only way that works is if the QB is upright spend the 9 to bolster the protection either by drafting a top O-Lineman or trading down to maybe get 2 functional additions The Bears have a pretty good young, and cheap (for now) O...

Re: Justin Fields traded to Pittsburgh for conditional pick
.... Poles, as has been his M.O. was pretty up front. He said he'd do right by Fields. That's your answer. .... BS IMO - Poles was pressured by Bears Management to close out this issue in a way that would save them a few nickles. They buried JF on a team that they would likely not face in a consequ...

Re: Is It Too Soon For Thoughts On Pick #9?
There are definitely still some WR2/3 types available in FA right now. Yes, they should draft one, but Moore/Allen/Kmet/Everett/Swift are going to be getting 99.99% of the targets. And even if Allen is out for a handful of games, those targets are just going to move to the TEs. You absolutely draft...

He's more LB than DE though. He did play with his hand on the ground more last year because of sheer necessity.

Re: Is It Too Soon For Thoughts On Pick #9?
Making the case for a first round WR: 1. The defense proved it can be very effective with personnel currently on the roster. Losing Justin Jones and is not going to sink the unit. There will be 3rd wave vets like Yannick Ngakuoe available if needed. 2. The offense has never proved anything. Really ...

6'4 298lb former fifth-round draft pick out of Maryland, has one career sack, and is now on his 6th team. Had one not-terrible year for the Pats as a DE.

What he did was bad judgement, but it doesn't change my opinion on him too much. From reading everything, it seems like he was compliant, wasn't intoxicated, didn't illegally obtain the firearm, and agreed to surrender it as a condition of his release. Assuming there's not a pattern of this kind of...

Oh the other thing that could hurt Nabers is sone teams will have height/weight bands for an X WR and he declined to even be measured at combine. That could hurt him if certain teams dont see him as a true X and have reservations about a top 10 pick on a slot/Z. Correct. Nabers is listed at 6ft 200...

Bringing in an established vet doesn't move the needle for me. Just get a guy like Rypien that knows the system. He can teach just fine from the bench.
If something goes south with Williams, does playing someone like Bryan Hoyer or Josh Dobbs over Bagent or Rypien really do anything?

I honestly can't imagine either of them being worse than either Patrick or Whitehair, so huge plus no matter who the starter is. Really raises the floor for our OL group. An injury at T is the scary part now that could have us revert to our recent years of horrific pass protection. I'm not opposed ...

Re: Is It Too Soon For Thoughts On Pick #9?
Poles is definitely a traits guy on the OL, so it wouldn't surprise me if he took Oli at #9 and decided Walker was good enough for another year across from Sweat. It's not a great DE class, and the best one has all sorts of medical red flags. I still think DE is the move though, and a traits OL is p...

I think it depends on the board. I think Poles will go into it wanting to trade down into the teens in order to pick up a R2, but it there's someone there who is at the top of his board, he will take him.
