Re: Pace hot seat

Ryan Pace's seat SHOULD be as hot as Nagy's - is it? Probably not. But it absolutely should be. The cult of Pace consistently ignores that he has produced but one winning season, 2 playoff appearances and zero playoff wins in 7 years. Pace is 2-11 against the Green Bay Packers. How much more time do...

Re: UPDATE: Future Head Coaching Options Discussion

I see McDaniels as a longshot hire at best. If he's interested in the Bears, I think it likely means Pace is out the door along with Nagy. Not only has Pace left the team strapped for draft capital, he's got an offense that desperately needs explosive weapons and a defense with serious age and atrop...

Re: Nagy Hot Seat

Just my hunch re: McDaniels and a QB like Fields... I see his success with Tom Brady, him actually getting a fair amount of production from Kyle Orton, and their prioritizing of Mac Jones. While the skill levels (obviously) vary, there's a similarity among these QBs - particularly Brady and (clearly...

Re: Nagy Hot Seat

re: Josh McDaniels, I don't see him having (any) interest in the Bears job - a. Justin Fields doesn't appear to be his kind of QB and b. I still believe he sees himself as Belichick's heir apparent. IF he did become the next Bear head coach, it would be because a. he actually (and surprisingly) LIKE...

Re: Matt Nagy deserves a little credit

Pace was struggling before Nagy arrived - his missed opportunities in the 2017 draft will live forever in GM infamy. quote=HisRoyalSweetness post_id=279434 time=1638061572 user_id=1363] In contrast Ryan Pace has built a team designed to win with its defense despite having hired an offensive coach. Re: Week 12 // Thanksgiving // Bears (3-7) @ Lions (0-9-1)

The second half offense, until the final drive, was inexcusably anemic - coming away with only 3 points against Detroit is bad - very bad. That said, I thought Dalton, for the most part, did his job. He’s obviously a lot more efficient at this point than fields. Even with Robinson, the bear offense ...

Re: Has anyone changed their mind on Daboll?

Washington isn’t firing Chico - if they did, he’d instantly be the leading candidate for the bears imo Gettelman and Judge may be out in New Jersey Agree on Zimmer - it’s playoffs or bust for him I would think there may be a discussion or two about whacking Urban Meyer If the Broncos fail to make th...

Re: Old Bear Fan

While he’s taken too many hits, there’s no evidence Fields isn’t cool under pressure - just the opposite. If anything, at times, he’s too cool under pressure - which can get him into trouble. The open question with fields imo is whether he can see the whole field, read a defense and process quickly....

Re: Update: McCaskey addresses team - no Nagy firing after Thanksgiving

I get not responding to every rumor - but a well run organizations leaders do not hide and have their coaches respond to reports of a pending firing.

That said, I believe Nagy finishes the season regardless of the outcome in Detroit.

Re: Old Bear Fan

Fields is a question mark - but one with tremendous upside. It won’t be difficult to find a head coach who wants a chance to work with him or a GM who would welcome the chance to build around him.

Re: Update: McCaskey addresses team - no Nagy firing after Thanksgiving

The reporter from the patch is a Pulitzer Prize winner - the odds of him simply “making this up” are slim. The question is who told him this? Beyond that, the bear organization bungled this - badly. Not true? George should have issued a statement immediately that it was false and shouldn’t have wait...

Re: Hub Arkush: George McCaskey instructed team to start Fields

Imo, if true, this is an abhorrent look for the franchise. Quality coaching candidates now have to factor in know-nothing owner interference into on field decisions.

This damages bear ownership and the organization, not the late duck Matt Nagy

Re: Rumor: Nagy to be Fired after Thanksgiving

I don't believe 670 has confirmed the story - they're just repeating the Patch report. Beat writers and national NFL types (Glazer, Rapoport, Schefter etc.) have not confirmed the story. It's POSSIBLE - but I expect an outright denial during today's press briefings. Won't be surprised if this a. isn...

Re: Delerious Excitement over Fields

While I do think Fields puts his body in harms way (way) too often & fumbles continue to be a problem, IMO there’s been an improvement in pocket presence and awareness since the Tampa debacle. There’s a tendency to overreact to the bad (ravens) and good (over 200 second half passing game yards &...

Re: Nagy Hot Seat

IMHO... * The Bear job, even with a bad roster and limited draft capital, will continue to be a coveted destination for prospective head coaches. In addition to being the NFL's charter franchise in the league's 3rd largest market, they have young QB with (albeit still unrealized) considerable upside...

Re: Is Vildor The Worst CB We've Ever Had?

Vildor is down there imo among the worst starting CB's the Bears have (ever) had - at least in the modern era. Jeremy Lincoln was bad, Lemuel Stinson was bad, Zach Bowman was bad...if we want to go WAY back, Terry Schmidt was HORRENDOUS. Virgil Livers was pretty bad. Vildor IS the worst in recent me...

Re: Nagy Hot Seat

With Dalton starting, the Bears likely beat Detroit. IF they somehow lose, it would be gross misconduct for George NOT to dismiss Nagy - and possibly DeSai along with him. I know...I know...the Bears have never fired a coach in season. However, Nagy looks completely defeated - why prolong his misery...

Re: Week 10 // Chicago Bears (3-6) vs. Baltimore Ravens (6-3)

Defense is actually not playing very well against a non descript backup QB Fields not playing well - inaccurate on too many throws, seems confused by the ravens coverages and, when he is accurate, Darnell Mooney drops the ball - including an absolutely gutless drop on a perfect pass on 3rd down with...

Re: Nagy Hot Seat

While I think it IS possibly, likely even, that Pace stays and Nagy goes, the case for Pace remains weak at best. I don’t know that one winning season out of 7 is “above average.” It’s difficult - for me anyway - to consider a GM whose roster after 7 years is this old, bereft of explosive blue chip ...

Re: Mack to season-ending IR for foot surgery

I don't know that this will be used by Bear ownership to create an excuse to bring everyone back. The age and atrophy of the defense is on full display - Mack, Hicks, Trevathan - as is the lack of explosive weapons on offense - not to mention chronic coaching incompetence. I do believe the Bears nee...
