Re: Chicago Bears fire HC Matt Nagy & GM Ryan Pace
Dungy's not going to be the GM - he's not going to want to go through that grind. Morocco Brown? He's a real possibility. I have a very disappointing feeling that it's going to be Dungy as GM and Frazier as HC. Pep Hamilton will probably return as OC and they will likely keep Chris Rumph and Michael...

Re: Bears to interview Bills DC Leslie Frazier
George did specifically say that he'd prefer to hire the GM 1st but, in classic double talk "just in case", he didn't want to delay the coaching search while they hire the GM and didn't want to turn away someone whom they believe (THIS is beyond fair to question, lampoon) is the right coac...

Re: Chicago Bears fire HC Matt Nagy & GM Ryan Pace
Had to be done. You can't fire Matt Nagy and retain Ryan Pace - not with the roster in the shape it's in and the way he's mismanaged the draft and the salary cap. Pace was effectively running a Ponzi scheme against himself. I'll be surprised if they pursue Harbaugh. Whomever they bring in to the GM ...

The 2021 draft, thus far, has yielded nothing. There’s potential - but that’s it. Way too soon to make pronouncements imo

That reunion more likely in Las Vegas

Apparently Harbaugh told a recruits Dad that he would entertain offers from the NFL.
Is this lining up for a Fangio/Harbaugh reunion in Chicago?

Re: Pace's Improvement
Can easily parse out nuggets to create a narrative - pro or con. The simple fact is, after 7 years on the job, paces bears are 6-10. Beat writers Dan Wiederer recently reported that, league wide, the bear roster is viewed as below average. The case to fire pace is overwhelming. I don’t expect it to ...

Re: A LOT of smoke about Harbaugh…
In the short term, the bears arguably are “lower” than the Raiders - roster not as talented, good QB versus struggling oft injured rookie QB, better stadium, the raiders are likely going to make Harbaugh the organizations top football guy whereas that moniker in Chicago belongs to the bumbling Ryan ...

Re: A LOT of smoke about Harbaugh…
Raiders are likely to give Harbaugh the keys to the kingdom i.e. full roster control and reporting directly to ownership. The Bears, meanwhile, are floating balloons about keeping Ryan Pace. The Bears seem destined to hire an Eberflus, Mayo, Graham, Daboll etc.

Re: UPDATE: Future Head Coaching Options Discussion
I don't think Fangio will (ever) be a NFL head coach again. He's best suited to being the league's best (and highest paid) DC. Albert Breer mentioned Eberflus - and Jerod Mayo - as likely leading candidates for the Bears' job. He doesn't think the Bears ultimately land either Harbaugh or (especially...

Re: Pace hot seat
By way of comparison (although not entirely fair b/c he didn't have as much of a hand in the 2001 Bears), after 7 seasons on the job, Jerry Angelo had 3 division titles, 2 playoff wins and 1 SB appearance on his resume. And 1 coaching hire who would go on to coach for 9 seasons. I had a lot of issue...

Re: UPDATE: Future Head Coaching Options Discussion
Understanding that my predictions are generally hopelessly off base... Eberflus is a coaching "lifer" with a varied background who was, if I'm not mistaken, hired by the Colts to be McDaniel's DC - i.e. before Frank Reich. He's the independent "head coach" of the Colts' defense -...

Re: UPDATE: Future Head Coaching Options Discussion
Assuming Pace stays, I think Eberflus is (almost) a shoo-in. Patrick Graham is a possibility but the stench from the Giants will follow him. If Pace goes the OC route, he'll pick someone that truly runs his own offense - Daboll, Roman or Moore. Mickey Loomis likely wont' allow Payton to come to Chic...

Re: If Pace isn't canned
Vegas is fighting for a playoff spot and has a first rate stadium. Probably not a good comparison. Seattle has a winning GM in place. Minnesota has a better overall track record. The Jags have less stability but better draft capital and, if I'm not mistaken, more cap space. FWIW, Mike Lombardi doesn...

Re: anyone think they DONT fire Nagy?
you're in a small yet fervent minority. All we can by is facts in evidence. Pace has been on the job for 7 years. The team has won 10+ games once. We can definitely say that about members of the 2021 draft class as Nagys time in Chicago draws to a close, but that doesn’t speak to paces overall body ...

Re: If Pace isn't canned
FWIW, Mike Lombardi doesn't believe a top HC candidate will come to Chicago if Pace is retained. Half the fan base carries the narrative that the overwhelming majority of the Bears' problems rest with the HC/coaching staff. I'm guessing the view across the league is that personnel management blunder...

We can definitely say that about members of the 2021 draft class as Nagys time in Chicago draws to a close, but that doesn’t speak to paces overall body of work. Ryan Pace is the one who badly mismanaged draft capital, leaving the roster dangerously thin with high number of nondescript 1 year contra...

They'll have to extend him, unless the new head coach is hired directly by George and leapfrogs the failed GM in the football ops hierarchy

I can only go by past experience/history. Rookie QBs with QBR's at or around Justin Fields have tended to flatline - Blaine Gabbert, Christian Ponder, Josh Rosen et al. There's zero exaggeration here - he could be a great QB...or an outright bust. Mac Jones has a lower ceiling imo - but a higher flo...

A rusty Justin Fields starts and fails to move the football Mike Zimmer starts a returning Kirk Cousins who redeems himself after an awful performance against a depleted Bear secondary in Chicago. Re: UPDATE: Future Head Coaching Options Discussion
Anything is possible. The challenge for George in retaining Nagy is lost revenue. There were a fair number of no-shows. Retaining Nagy (not to mention Ryan Pace) will ramp up fan disdain and apathy. It will compel the Bears to give Nagy an extension - what prospective free agent is going to prioriti...

There's no viable rumor that Harbaugh is in play for the Bears - it's fodder being spewed by Erik Lambert, the man with the infamous imaginary HH sources
