Re: Yogi da Bear's Picnic Basket (2024)
I remember checking after that draft. 3-4 of what I consider better sources all had him around where he went. 3-4 of what I consider not bad, but mediocre sources all had him later (R3-4). I considered it kind of high, given his lack of technique and production. The athletic ceiling is there for him...

Re: What would it take for you to move from the 1.1 pick
Without including high 2024 picks or major player addins, it would be your next 3 full drafts (every pick). And only from a team that's mediocre to bad right now, not from someone I expect to be doing a lot of late picking. And not anyone who's already traded away too many picks, either. For a drop ...

Re: Bears Big Board at current slots
I hate to dissuade anybody, but Poles is NOT getting either Turner I wouldn't be so sure. He's undersized at DE and I'm not thrilled about that end of it. But he's very similar in size to AQM, Ngokoue, and Whoever Martin that they just signed. Poles & Flus are very, very capable of going with t...

Re: Rashee Rice sought by police
If Rice was a fringe roster guy, he probably would already have been cut, no matter the outcome, being charged or no. Guys who play are looked at very differently, though. Same as it ever was. Yeah gutless owners/GMs I don't blame owners and GMs as much . They're obviously pulled 2 ways by self-int...

Re: Yogi da Bear's Picnic Basket (2024)
Wow. It's scary how much it mirrors what I'm thinking. CW is a done deal. Latu has the potential to be the best DE in this class, injuries worry me but in a trade down I love him. Rice has a connection with CW and that can only help the two of them as rookies. Smith one of my favorite DT from later...

At even odds? I would bet heavily he gets exposed and charged with something.southdakbearfan wrote: ↑Mon Apr 01, 2024 11:14 am It’s a bad look, any way it shakes out.
I suspect not much will come of it.
Actual penalties?
Probably disgustingly light. Fine, probation, and 2 game suspension is my bet.

I didn't get to see anything as exciting as punter to center connections or watch long enough for much of an opinion, but I did stumble across a minute or two of AJ McCarron playing QB during a commercial break.

Re: Is It Too Soon For Thoughts On Pick #9?
Rumor of the day,: Poles values OTs quite highly, more than WRs. He knows the team needs more DL help but might not be able to pass up the chance to draft a franchise OT to give Williams more protection. The Bears put a rookie at RT last season and would do the same at LT. I've thought about this a...

Re: Bears Big Board at current slots
Poles interviews he talks about only having 4 picks and why he thinks it’s fine given how many they’ve had recently I firmly disagree with that argument. It's technically true the Bears have had a lot of picks over the last 2-3 drafts - but a huge proportion of them were 6th and 7th round picks, wh...

Same
He's very transparent - too much so, when it comes to personnel moves.
If he's talking "few picks", he's almost definitely going few picks.
Don't like it, though.

Not worth the read IMO. I was hoping it was ranking them on the potential as a prospect when they entered the draft. I know the writer is basing rookies based on their college performances and projecting that talent to the pros. But it's like comparing apples to oranges, not valid comparing pros to...

Re: 2024 NFL Rule Changes
My first instinct is that most returns will be about the same length. Everyone's kind of bunched up and not as spaced out as when you're running so far.
If you do actually break through the wall, though, there's really nothing behind it, except the kicker.

We should have fired Nagy / Pace a year earlier - I was begging for that. But Bears, we wait and then Mis-timed the QB window with a lame duck season followed by a coaching change/new offense and a complete roster tear down. No one in their right mind would have a rookie QB in that circumstance to ...

Re: Is It Too Soon For Thoughts On Pick #9?
Poles got asked about the #9 pick specifically at the NFL owners meetings today (CHGO just released a good pod covering it). Poles said they are about to do an excercise when the positions groups for WR, DE, and OT will all get their chance to to give merits for taking one of those positions versus...

Re: 2024 NFL Rule Changes
Good to hear push back from players on hip drop tackles. It's funny to think of it from a wr's prospective too: you want to tackle a linebacker? Either you hip drop them, or you take out his knees. Imo outlawing hip drops will just further increase leg injuries. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...

Re: 2024 NFL Rule Changes
Ummm...onside kicks are allowed, but the kicking and receiving team lines are going to be 30 yds away from the kicker???
Or do they mean you have to announce an onside kick and then you go back to lining up the current way, instead of the new way??

Re: PFF Free Agency Grades for All Teams
The grades aren't very meaningful, since they didn't explain their metric: Teams who improved their on-field talent most/least, regardless of resource available? Best use of cap resource, however much/little it may have been? If two teams did almost the same amount of good, but one spent a lot and o...

IOL has some patches that may suffice for a year, but is definitely unsettled. That's why I was saying in the other thread, I can still totally see them going C in R2-4 or G R3/4. With regards to Jenkins' availability, it's worth noting in the past two seasons he's played in 25 games the exact same...

Re: IOL thoughts
I didn't realize JJ's games missed was so bad last year (2022). Yikes! One big stumbling block with Jenkins (beyond the games missed) is that the tags are done purely by OL, not by T/G/C, the way they ought to be. So tagging Jenkins is probably out of the question - which really hampers your leverag...

I get a kick out of how so many people have already written off the rest of Bagent's career, and that he's now no longer even worthy of being a backup. How many? Re: "The NFL QB Who Didn't Give A ****"
What would Cutler have done with an offensive line? Nothing different. They did a major study of QBs under pressure and not under pressure and how they performed (not special now, but cutting edge at the time, IIRC). Everybody showed notable differences under pressure vs not. Except one. Cutler was...

Scales is old. Probably lots of vet rest days in his future 😂 Maybe we are stockpiling long snappers like we did TEs a few years ago. Maybe they're going to emulate that hilarious Bringing In a Dozen Kickers thing from a few years back, but with punters, so they need a fleet of LS to go with.

So I don't put much stock into PFF grades (mainly because I don't under how they are generated), but it appears they give very little love to our new additions. That's the problem, I think. When looking at Chicago’s new additions, there’s one thing that stands out: Most of them were graded extremel...
