Re: Pompei: Offense not a factor, but it's not a big deal

I was late to seeing the broadcast because I got free tix to watch the Eagles circle the toilet, and when I walked into the bar to see 20-0 Bears and Earl standing in the huddle with the orange kicks I probably had blue and orange cartoon hearts circling my head. :)

Re: ESPN: Bad Boys no match for Bad Men

Twice in the last week the Bears stepped up and put a beating on a team that ALL the analysts were jocking. They played through injuries, illness, dirty opponents, and criticism. I love Earl, Matt, Jay, Brian, DJ, Conte, the whole stupid oline... when's the last time you were this proud to be a Bear...

Re: Biggs: DE Babin calls crack block by bears "chickenshit

I remember the play. Davis was in 2pt stance out in the slot, and he cracked back on the play while Babin was already being moved by Louis... completely buried him. It was awesome and indicative of the attitude we brought to that game. The Philly sports radio has been saying "the Bears sent a m...

Re: Parr: Third season not the charm for Bears WR Knox

My assumption is that they will acquire a new receiver next year, and we will need to cut one to keep the number at 6. Hester and Bennett are here for sure. 3. Roy Williams - Inconsistent but improving. If he comes on, I think we sign him to a longer deal and trade Knox 4. Dane Sanzy - Too many drop...

Re: Carimi to have knee surgery, season in question

If he needs the surgery to be ready for the opener next year, then yes. Otherwise we should let him practice very light, and keep him on the sideline for emergencies.

Frank Omiyale 2011 = Todd Collins 2010

If we play him, he could lose the game for us. I feel that strongly about his suckiness.

Re: McClure: OT Carimi out for Lions game to continue recov

The idea that we don't need to draft or sign a starting quality OL next year is almost too good to be true. That gives us a chance to draft WR, LB, DB early and look at DE and S in free agency. This is on the back of a team that is looking VERY 11-5 right now.

(I'm totally drunk on the Kool-Aid)

Re: Roberto Garza given 2 yr contract extension through 2013

The issue is not replacing Izzy with an impact DE, the issue is replacing Nick Reed and Mario Addison. Unfortunately that is a high-value position and not easy to draft. I'm hoping we can bring in some sort of journeyman free agent while we develop some size/speed prospect we draft late. If Paea or ...

Re: Biggs: Bears content to ease Carimi back into action

No matter how you shuffle our Tackles we still appear short a guard. I hope we give up on the experiment of converting tackles and just draft a damn guard in the mid-rounds.

In the meantime we have two experiments on the left side, and two pleasant surprises on the right (Spencer and Louis).

My guess is that he's as surprised as we are that Lance Louis got it done. The "we'll wait and see" is probably related to Louis falling on his face this week.

Re: PFT Week Nine Picks: Bears at Battery Throwers

I'm here in Philly and I see fans who are on edge. People were ready to call for Andy Reid's head before that Dallas game and I hope we can stir up that mob again. I'm happier with Conte back there helping stop the big play, and I know that the Philly oline is an issue. Our front four will generally...

C'mon buddy this is practically trolling. The Packers drafted Donald Driver, and five years later they drafted Greg Jennings. Two pro-bowlers in the span of 10 years is basically the end of the argument.

Re: Hayes: Coach Tice has a new issue to tackle

I'm with wab here, I think Louis and Webb were the problem during the first quarter. I came into the season hating Louis at G so I mostly complained about him, and most everyone else (including DD I thought) were focused on hating Webb. As for moving Carimi to G, I am now skeptical. After watching C...

Agreed on Lance Louis being a revelation. As a bonus: Chris Williams is getting it done, and Frank Omiyale isn't on the field. I'm not sure if we want to give up on Webb at LT because clearly Tice saw something there. Maybe after this year we have a competition and the loser ends up as the swing tac...

Re: PFT: Bears release veteran safety Chris Harris

We are paying Merriweather too much to sit on the bench in a Jerry Angelo regime. He's going to "get a chance" to live up to his contract. Meanwhile, Conte is starting opposite him and Jerry didn't even notice him at the combine. Bears Safety situation 2011 = Bears Tight End situation 2010...

I think I liked Darcel McBath during the 2009 draft but he wasn't around when we got around to drafting our Rd3 washouts. He couldn't stick with the Broncos... and those guys suck. That doesn't say much about my scouting ability or the Bears ability to help themselves with personnel mid-season.

I want to keep beating this drum until someone convinces me I'm wrong: if we aren't going waive him next year, we need to pay him THIS YEAR THIS CAP YEAR You want to pay him $8mil guaranteed in 2012 and 2013 (sounds good to me)? Why not pay him $10mil this year and $3mil for those other two years. T...

I think we have to pay him a little more than Frank Gore, and I think we can do it fairly painlessly THIS YEAR because we didn't spend much in the offseason. Lets see a frontloaded contract similar to the one Briggs should currently stfu about. If we were butting against the cap I would be in lockst...
