After 19 years and multiple awards, the big fundamental has retired.
I had NO idea he was a huge Bears fan, though. Held up a team flight back in 2011 to watch the Bears/Seahawks game.

It was time. Glad he pulled that trigger on himself. He got severely slow and became a shadow of his younger self. Seems like a good all around guy, made better by the fact he is a Bears fan.

in this modern mercenary era of pro sports, it's nice to see these guys who spend their whole career with 1 team and have success ... he was embraced by the fans and community and the face of the franchise for a long time
