That's regression to me.
To me, regression is a permanent move backwards. I think Biscuits is feeling very restrained in what he is being allowed to do, and its causing him to think too much, and not just play football. The minute a more aggressive coach walks through the door, Trubisky will be back to his old self.
That Bellamy play, if you go back and watch it, the closest defender was 9 yards away from him. 27 feet away and Mitch didn't feel he was open. That's John Fox and Dowell Loggains screaming in his ear "protect the ball at all costs, don't be a playmaker".

I hate that shit; it's not who he was in college. I'm not saying the kid should be wreckless but fucking A guys, let the #2 pick play like the #2 pick. Deshaun Watson wasn't having his nuts held in a vice, why are we doing it to this kid? The lack of weapons? Or is that just who John Fox is as a coach (and all the more reason I am realizing he needs to go)?

Everything happens faster in NFL..now he's playing not just a few great players but MANY MILLIONAIRE quality pros//the best of the best of college..
Many of the plays he could make in college against guys now working at Starbucks..will be learned at hyperspeed in NFL..
5 games...with shit WRs..no decent blocking..so he gets the training wheels...learning in a lost season as WE ALL SHOULD have realized..
Throwing 5-7 INTs a week does NOT build character or NFL readiness..

The Bears signed on cause of his OBVIOUS talents..but now it's an entirely different speed and quality D..

Needs this off season to learn..

It's not always Madden Magic.. He ain't football Jesus..but he develops we got something and hope.. Remember "He doesn't have the arm for bad weather" Looks like certainly does. Last week in rain and cold throwing to scrubs,,getting 10 in box and little time..guys in his face and shit play calling and long D'Distance 3rds..

Fans want a joystick..just get me a future.. Fox is done..
Get some talent and a offseason..a decent draft..
Let it fly..

Long term..maybe even next year..we'll see who plays better..Watson already showing what can happen to a running QB.. Cam..also..

I think they need to let the kid try to make plays so he can learn from his mistakes and improve.
There is a GM named Poles

He’s rebuilt his team
So Bears’ fans can dream
Of winning some more Super Bowls

Realistically he shouldn't have played this year. We are going to be lucky if at the end of the season he doesn't have PTSD.

This team can never win a corner turning game under Fox.

Totally unacceptable loss.

There's a world of difference between what we're seeing and the kind of reckless football that would see multiple interception games but in any case, I'd take a couple of multiple interception games if that's what he needs to get used to the speed of the NFL.

I absolutely think he should be out there because he needs in game experience but there's no point if he isn't allowed to take his lumps. Training wheels I could deal with, not the multiple layers of bubble wrap he's under now.
"I wouldn't take him for a conditional 7th. His next contract will pay him more than he could possibly contribute.".

I don't because I believe it paints my frustrations beautifully. A picture says a thousand words, right? This is a throw he makes 100% of the time in college without so much as blinking. Here, he saw a corner in the background and it made him freeze. Why? He is having "protect the ball over everything" pounded into his skull.

He looks gunshy. I watched a ton of his UNC games and I do not see the same confident QB that I am watching now. He hesitates. On his overthrow to Bellamy in the 4th quarter, he hesitated again and it threw off his mechanics. I don't like it one iota.

Is it constant? No... but it is rearing its ugly head more and more each game that I watch. This organization is notorious for ruining QBs and I am terrified it is going to happen again if we keep these two idiots around. Peyton Manning said he threw so many INTs early in his career because he needed to learn what windows were acceptable and what windows were not. Clearly, our QB is thinking a defender 9 yards away is too close to make a throw. That doesn't bother you?

If Bellamy catches the ball (huge if) and makes a defender miss, he's off to the races.

This isn't the college game though. Those players who try to just continue playing their college game don't last long in the NFL. Manziel and RG3 are prime examples.

He's processing a shit ton more than he ever had to and that's going to take time.

This organization isn't past organizations. That's irrational.

Bro, that's as easy of a throw as you'll find at any level of football. It's wiiiiiide open.

There was nothing for him to process here: play action, boot out, nobody within 9 yards of your target, throw the ball.

This organization isn't past organizations? It's the Chicago Bears owned by the McCaskeys still, no? Not sure how that's irrational.

We can go back to the Halas days as well... we haven't had a franchise QB since 1947... do you think that's by accident?

Jesus dude. Let it go. A rookie QB missed an open guy. Big deal. Brady misses open guys all the time. Do I think he's thinking too much, and not just playing? Absolutely. Do I think he's regressing back to shitty QB? Absolutely not.

The one throw is not the point, it paints the general concept of what I'm trying to say.

If you want to talk about this one: he didn't miss him, he flat out refused to throw the ball and took a huge sack. He's playing timid and I hate that in any QB, especially when I believe he's capable of much more.

If ya'll don't agree, that's fine with me. I hope I'm wrong.

I love you man, you know I do. My brown brother from another mother... but I gotta side with the other guys on this one. I think your suffering from a little bit of confirmation bias here. He missed a throw. It happens. Lots of QB's with much more experience miss open guys. He's being careful with the ball because he has barely any experience. The last time he tried to throw a guy open, it was a pick 6 and it cost the Bears the game. In fact, being careful with the ball is something we rarely see with a Bears quarterback. It's not going to ruin his killer instinct. NFL defenses are different than anything he's faced in college. And as painful as it is to admit, he really probably just doesn't know where to go with the ball most of the time, or what in the general fuck he's doing out there. When he has time and the offense is clicking, he can be brilliant. But things are breaking down around him way too fast right now, he doesn't have a receiver he can trust, and the playcalling has been inconsistent because of mistakes resulting in bad down and distance situations.

I totally get that you are worried he's regressing because you are frustrated with the state of the team, but I legit am not seeing what you are seeing.

In a list of things that are a problem with this team - boneheaded coaching mistakes, missing 5 of the top receiving targets, injuries to a pro bowl pair of guards, the apparent regression of the star center, constant shuffling of the OL, WR's that can't consistently get open or catch, an inconsistent pass rush, and lack of takeaways...Mitch Trubisky is pretty far down the list.

It's the hesitation that's killing me. Confirmation bias is probably accurate, I'm terrified this coaching staff is raping the playmaking out of him and these examples are sounding alarms in my head. Look at his huge 4th quarter miss to Bellamy... why did he pause before the throw? Why did he sink his base, pause AGAIN, and then not step into his throw and airmail the ball? He's hesitating... just let it rip kid, believe in what you see.

Yeah... that makes a ton of sense to me but it's the Bears, wab. There HAS to be a part of you that is thinking "oh for fuck's sake, here we go again". I know it is for me and that's going to be impacting how I see this kid develop, fair or not. Deshaun Watson at Clemson was in an offense that only read half the field, granted he played in more games and he had better weapons in the NFL than Mitch Trubisky does here, but what's the harm in opening it up for him and letting him play with his gunslinger (his words) style? It just irks me... I get that our roster is shit, but the kid is going to have to learn at some point.

No matter what this organization does... switches GMs, head coaches, offensive coordinators, quarterbacks, during my lifetime, it always ends up either being not good enough or it goes down in flames. I'm fucking sick of it and I really don't trust anyone in this organization to change anything. I'm sure I'm being more cynical/melodramatic this week than usual, but I'm starting to hit that boiling point of "why the fuck do I keep rooting this team on and expecting the best when they consistently fail?"

For my mindset, it also doesn't help that I'm slowly turning into that crusty old Bears fan that hates ownership. Why? Because I can point to the Cubs, 108 fucking years of futility, and all it took was new ownership's vision and approach to break that curse. I don't see that happening here, ever. And I fucking hate it.

I think Trubisky might have feared the ball bouncing off the WR's hands and going straight to the defender because of the alignment of him to the WR to the defender. That's the only reason to not throw that ball...no confidence in the guy catching it.

Jeez dude. Lol. You're obsessed with this play, huh?

A rookie QB missed a read, wow... unheard of.

By this logic, couldn't I just choose to focus on only his long TD throw to Bellamy. Which was a dime?

I agree he's got a lot to learn, but that's kind of the point of this entire season for him.

I'll just say that I think this is a much different team/offense with Cam Meredith, Kevin White, Zach Miller, Kendall Wright, and a healthy Wheaton.

I get that injuries happen in the NFL, but that's an entire receiving corps. It's one thing to miss a guy or two out of that group for a game here and there. But to have everyone go down for a season or weeks at a time?

You point to Rodgers as the gold standard for QBs...but he makes those WR's better because he gets to work with them week in and week out, season in and season out. It's not a constant revolving door of guys every week.

Lastly, I view the that play you posted a little different. I don't think he outright missed Bellamy...I think he hesitated because he doesn't believe Bellamy is going to catch the fucking ball. Trust is a big thing when it comes to a QB and a WR.

That's irrelevant as all hell, and you know that.

The Cubs not winning a WS for over a century has nothing to do with the Bears. Neither do QB's or HC's who we had decades ago. lol. The Dick Jauron/Rex Grossman/Lovie Smith's of the world have literally nothing to do with the modern-day Chicago Bears.

It's been a rough few years, but Jesus... I don't get this doom/gloom stuff, as if we're the Browns. Prior to 2014, we were pretty much competitive on a yearly basis for nearly a full decade. We went to two NFC Title games and a Super Bowl. You're getting pretty greedy if you're griping about that not lasting forever.

Not every team can be as consistently good as the Packers or the Pats. Hell, I'd be happy to be the Bengals at this point.

It's great as a fan to want the organization to strive for that, but those two teams are the exception rather than the rule.

After winning the SB in 1985 (32 years):

3 NFC Championship game appearances, lost 2 of them.
1 Super Bowl appearance (Loss)

248 wins, 253 losses.

That's good enough for you? It's not for me.

My point is this team has been less than mediocre (sub .500) the past 32 years. That doesn't sit well with me and it's honestly starting to get old. It certainly doesn't help that the Packers have been kicking my fucking ass the majority of my life.

My point is: if you keep failing to reach excellence, at what point do you realize ownership is the problem? Why is Ted Phillips sitting above Ryan Pace (was listening to this on the radio the other day.)? Michael Lombardi said he is involved in decisions inside football operations... why?

Do you know what a joke the Cubs' scouting staff and structure was prior to the Ricketts coming in and hiring Theo Epstein? It's staggering... maybe the McCaskeys simply don't know what they are doing. I don't think that it is a stretch or outrageous to at least entertain the thought. Chris Ballard told ownership he wanted to change the structure of the organization when he interviewed for the GM position, they told him to hit the bricks.

After winning the SB in 1985 (32 years):

3 NFC Championship game appearances, lost 2 of them.
1 Super Bowl appearance (Loss)

248 wins, 253 losses.

That's good enough for you? It's not for me.
people question us old farts about why we keep living in 1985 ... that pretty much explains it

it would be nice if the Bears could become the Patriots and begin a 2 decade run of damn good to excellent ... but I realize that is not a realistic wish given the organization as a whole

what is realistic is for one of the founding franchises of the NFL to get their fucking act together and be a consistently competitive team the city and the fans can be proud of, win lose or draw ... the Bears have done nothing much to be proud of since 1985, with the exception being a sporadic few years here and there

EXACTLY! This isn't the fucking Jacksonville Jaguars, we are the FOUNDING FRANCHISE of this GOD DAMNED league, and we're a bunch of fucking hacks. That is depressing in my football world.

The Bears were consistently competitive nearly the entire time Lovie Smith was here. Being a fan of a team in the same division as the Packers/Pats puts your team's margin for error at almost zero. It's not like the NFC South, NFC East, NFC West, AFC South, AFC North, or the AFC West where pretty much any team in that division can win it in any given year.

I think that exacerbates the frustrations of Bears fans.

I still agree with G08 that this coaching staff will do more harm than good for the future of Trubisky's growth.
