#Bears coach John Fox, in his own Fox way, definitely made it sound as if a change at kicker is imminent.
John Fox: "We’re in a production based business and that’s what we get paid to do. Whether it’s win games as the head coach or whether it’s make kicks as a kicker."

John Fox is now 3-13 against the NFC North as #Bears head coach.

"Hey Cairo! How ya doing? Yeah, the games just finished.
How'd it go? Oh, er, well, you know how it is.
How's the groin? All good? Excellent.
Er, how soon can you get to Chicago..."

I just don’t understand pining for a kicker that was cut over a year ago. I mean, I miss Marty Booker too.
Simple. The guy he was cut in favor for is still here, and that guy has sucked since he got here.wab wrote:I just don’t understand pining for a kicker that was cut over a year ago. I mean, I miss Marty Booker too.

Mike Nugent (who??) just banged one through the uprights from 48 yards out, like it was nothing. He is the BACK-UP kicker for Dallas. Jesus H. Christ. Wasn't Barth in Denver with Fox?

Reminder: the #Bears brought in Josh Lambo (and Roberto Aguayo) for a tryout on 10/4. Lambo has since signed with the Jaguars and hasn't missed a FG with a long of 51.

Here are Barth's career statistics. His best year was 2014 with John Fox in Denver. The rest of the years, by NFL kicker standards, were complete and utter shit.

Do we think its possible that Fox is defending Barth? Example;RING4CHI wrote:Including a game-tying kick to force overtime, and then the game-winner last week.UOK wrote:@djdurkin

Pace: 'we're going to bring in some other kickers and take a look at them.'
Fox: 'That's fine, but I am confident that Connor is going to get things turned around.'

You guys are confused about kicker stats.
Adam Vinatieri (4th in 2017 % for 10+ attempts, 20+ year career) has an 84.8 career average
Greg Zuerlein (tops in 2017 %) has an 82.4 career average
Grahame Gano (3rd in 2017) has an 81 career avg
Barth has an 82.8 career average
He's had lots of good years.
Unfortunately, 2 of his 3 poor ones have been the 2 years in Chicago.
And, while 40-49 should be converted more often than not, gimmie is an unfair exaggeration.
Looking at the same guys,
Vinatieri is 77% career from that range
Zuerlein is 85%
Barth is 76%
Gano is 79%

People need to really let Robbie Gould go, he wasn't good at the end of his Bears career and he was overpaid. The Bears need to find a kicker younger and better than Gould and Barth.jamus34 wrote:So in one season Barth has cost us as many games as Gould did his entire career.
Is he really the BEST available Pace?
I mean jesus how many gimme's to tie or win the game does a guy have to miss to get cut?

I disagree ... he had a bad season in the last year of his Bears career, but that 1 season should not negate all the good he did in the years priorMitchTrubisky10 wrote:he wasn't good at the end of his Bears career
guess you could argue thatMitchTrubisky10 wrote:and he was overpaid.

in their attempts to do just that, they have found turds to polish into gold and have not been successful ... their post Gould plan B has been a failure

It's no secret that when kickers flame out and get cut, they tend to flourish with the next team. Gould had a bad year that cost the team games. He was making a lot of money to make those kicks.

Kickers get the yips. It happens. Once they start down that path, they seldom come back without a change of venue. A lot of kicking is mental. Much more precision than any other position on the field. As soon as they start questioning whether or not they are striking the ball in the right place, planting their foot in the right spot, or if their aim is off, or whatever. They are done. That's what happened to Gould, and that's what happened to Barth.wab wrote:It's no secret that when kickers flame out and get cut, they tend to flourish with the next team. Omfg, bring in that rookie from training camp and see if there's anything there for the last couple of weeks.
