I like all kinds of pizza - although I'd argue that some deep dish has moved from pizza to lasagna almost.
BUT... I really miss the OLD Pizza Hut pan pizza. The good thick buttery crust when they used to really do it right and make it all in-house and not just reheat frozen crap. We have a chain here called Old Chicago, they come close, but not as good as a Pizza Hut pan pizza from 1985... Could be that I'm being hyperbolically sentimental and it was never that good, but I sure remember it well!

I remember Pizza Hut as a kid from the Book It program at school. It was something like get five stars on your Book It button for reading and you go to Pizza Hut for a personal pan pizza. It was awesome every time.

I remember Pizza Pete on the south side while growing up ... they served me good pizza from elementary school all the way through high school ... simply perfect thin crust
many of the chains just can't get the crust right, which really does negatively affect the overall pizza .. pizza toppings on what tastes like a saltine cracker is not good pizza

"Artisan" pizza is a thing here in North Dallas. Figs and honey and goat cheese and apples and all manner of things. Some of it is admittedly pretty tasty, but it's not pizza. It's a fancy round flatbread.

Mikefive's theory: The only time you KNOW that a sports team player, coach or management member is being 100% honest is when they're NOT reciting "the company line".

Oh, don't get me wrong, like I said, I'll try any pizza and love tons of mom and pop places. If you are ever in South Sioux City Nebraska, go to Rosie's, as good of thin crust as you'll get anywhere. We also have Townhouse, Bob Roes, and Jerry's. I doubt any of you will ever get that shot though, so I went with the thing we'd all know.Otis Day wrote:Never like Pizza Hut. Where I live, I stick to the mom and pop places, no chain pizza joints for me.
And, I'm not going to dis a good food just cause it's from a chain either. The majority of chains have some damn crappy food but most have something that keeps them in the game, some just because they are cheap but most because they have something decent on the menu. There is a reason why Pizza Hut got as big as it got and it was that old style pan pizza crust in my opinion. Now they just want to compete with domino's and little ceaser's... so just cheap cheap cheap crap.
BUT, seriously, ever in SSC, grab a Rosies.

I don't remember ever going there, but I do remember the old Riverview Amusement Park the article mentions ... so I'm guessing I must have gone to the pizza place at some point but a long time ago

I do have a great place for quality thin crust pizza in my area ... a regional chain called Ledo Pizza ... a very high quality pizza from the crust to the toppings
only negative is if you get the version with all the toppings, it can detonate on the way from the plate to your mouth as the thin crust surrenders to the laws of physics ... other than that, highly recommended if you ever venture this way
and, their pizzas are square or rectangle depending on the size

I stopped at the one in La Plata recently and, yeah, it was quite good.Boris13c wrote:I do have a great place for quality thin crust pizza in my area ... a regional chain called Ledo Pizza ... a very high quality pizza from the crust to the toppings
