Carted off now after awkward sideline hit. Appears to be rolled ankle, but who knows. Will update when possible.

Was a weird play. Defender called for a (questionable in my view) lead with the helmet. Shaheen is horizontal and his right foot catches in the turf and twists. Didn't look terrible, but you never know.
Mikefive's theory: The only time you KNOW that a sports team player, coach or management member is being 100% honest is when they're NOT reciting "the company line".

Go back to leather helmets, NFL.

My guess is we see it reported as a sprain, back week 3. Did look awkward but nothing season ending. He was looking OK up to that point too.

It looked nasty, but the ankle injury for #Bears TE Adam Shaheen wasn’t nearly as bad as it appeared. Source said Shaheen suffered a low-ankle sprain based on initial tests. More tests are coming, but if that holds, he wouldn’t be ruled out to play Week 1.

Thank God... when I finally got around to watching the game I feared the worst.

So... Baby Gronk... looks a little like Gronk, hopefully plays a little like Gronk, hopefully doesn't have constant and chronic injuries like Gronk too!!!

LOL

Not too worried. TE looks DEEP. Let the kid get 100% instead of rushing him out there gimpy.

Damn and he was looking real good so far.

I agree we a deep at TE as long Shaheen is healthy. Sims is going to be the most expensive 3rd TE in the league. Ben though I did like when we drafted him is nothing more then a 3rd teamer at this point. Brown and Thompson have no upside and are what they are.

With the way Burton and SHaheen have been playing in the pre season it is easy to believe we may have the best TE tandem in the League. Maybe not true but definitely has the potential.

Adam Shaheen injury worse than originally feared, now ankle and foot. Nagy hoping still not serious, but still uncertain on prognosis.

Prognosticators, it is ankle. It is not bad. Should practice.

Now it is a foot and an ankle. The news that comes out............. :frustrated:

Even with the downgrade, I'm surprised it wasn't worse.
Looked ugly.

Agreed. Doesn't sound like it's the dreaded high-ankle sprain so I'm hoping this isn't more than 4-6 weeks.

Worse than originally thought, foot also sprained and Bears seeking 2nd opinion:

The Chicago Bears are looking to get a second opinion on the foot injury that Adam Shaheen suffered against the Denver Bronocs, but Matt Nagy doesn’t seem optimistic about it.

The team originally thought Shaheen had a low-ankle sprain, but Nagy revealed Tuesday the second-year tight end also has foot sprain.

Fortunately for Shaheen, his injury doesn’t appear to be a fracture, which could require a longer recovery time, but the worse prognosis puts his status for Week 1 in doubt.

Hopefully he will be only a game. To be safe maybe 2, it will be fine. Hopefully he heals quick and this isn't something that holds him back much longer than that. Would really like to see what he has to offer this team.
