What's crazy is he's played 1 full game and 2 1/2s at his potential in 5 games this year and he's still ranked that high. Imagine when he and the offense are more consistent.
”Damn -- Khalil Mack had another strip sack?” Gruden asked rhetorically, shaking his head at the Oakland Raiders assistant coaches in his midst. “Are you ... kidding me?”

Not my post:
WindyCity wrote:Dan Orlovsky was on ESPN 1000 and he was saying that the deep shots to Gabriel were awesome, but the best throws Mitch made were his throws to Allen Robinson.
-On the TD throw, he has a zone defense with a box setting up around Robinson on the goal line, which you can do in the redzone because the safeties do not have to get deep. That throw needs to be out before Robinson settles down and with 0 hesitation as the box collapses in around Robinson. Trubisky knows he is throwing it pre snap as he recognizes zone and he sticks it in with 0 hesitation.
-On the 22 yard back shoulder on the sideline the CB drops and a flat defender comes underneath the route and Orlovsky said most NFL QBs won't even throw the route because technically it is covered with Robinson running a fly route into the CB at the goal line. He said what made it so impressive was that Mitch reads the coverage and goes back shoulder leading Robinson away from the over top defender, but what he said was the most encouraging thing was that Robinson saw the same thing and immediately adjusted in the exact same way.
It really appears that Robinson and Mitch are getting into a groove as the TB TD, Mia TD, and Mia backshoulder were all really nice reads, throws, routes and adjustments by both of them.

Mitchell Trubisky vs. Jets (ESPN projection: 18.6): Mahomes, Shmahomes ... As great as young Patrick is, there's not a hotter QB in fantasy right now than Trubisky. Since Week 4, he is averaging more than 34 fantasy points per game and ranks second with 11 TD passes in that span (despite being on bye one of those weeks). In fact, he has the most points in a three-game span by any QB since 2012 (Cam Newton). He actually has more rushing yards this season than LeSean McCoy and now gets a Jets team that is giving up almost 290 passing yards per game on the road and has allowed multiple TD passes in four straight.

I will admit. The Lingerie Football games are entertaining. They would be much better though, if there were more uniform malfunctions.Boris13c wrote:Moriarty wrote:I despise fantasy football, because it ruins fans' perspective on players.mmmc_35 wrote:I like fantasy football, but it ruins fans perspective on players.

Trubisky seems to have everything needed in a QB except for one thing. Accuracy and that scares me.
It has been proven year after year that it can not be taught. Halas, I am hoping it is just him being young and having happy feet. I just ordered his jersey.

^ This 100%. What do you mean he isn't accurate? He's made some amazing throws in his 17-18 starts. He's also made rookie throws. What Wab said is dead on, it's about his mechanics. When he sets his feet and steps into a throw he can toss anything on the field.wab wrote:He’s accurate AF when his feet are set right.EricTighe wrote:Trubisky seems to have everything needed in a QB except for one thing. I realize that the TB defense is bad, but they are professionals. I believe we were afforded a sneak peak at who Trubisky can be when he puts it all together. He was really accurate, and threw a gorgeous ball against the Bucs. The reason. He had really good footwork the whole game.wab wrote:He’s accurate AF when his feet are set right.EricTighe wrote:Trubisky seems to have everything needed in a QB except for one thing. This a million times over. I don't even need to see the pass, just watching his feet you know whether it's a completion or not. 100% correctable and has more to do with being comfortable in the offense than anything. He looked much better and set up his feet much better the second half.wab wrote:He’s accurate AF when his feet are set right.EricTighe wrote:Trubisky seems to have everything needed in a QB except for one thing. He is making the right reads and throws, it's just getting his feet settled down.

Mitch = Work in Progress.
The potential has always been there but his lack of consistency finding the best target and his lack of accuracy downfield have been frustrating. Someone charted seven potential scoring passes against NE that failed due to poor throws. He can't keep missing open receivers like he has and he should know that.

You know we talk about how accurate he is when his feet are set. This is the NFL you should be accurate when things are perfect. He needs to get better at throwing actually when things are not. He is slowly improving but this area of his game is a huge frustration.

I think what is happening is the dude is soooooo amped up when the game starts and it's something that impacts his feet. He clearly settles down as the game progresses, and his mechanics fall into line. My roommate in college was a pitcher and he'd talk about it all the time...how when he was first put into the starting rotation and how wild his pitches were the first inning or two because of all the adrenaline, but he'd settle down and start nailing them.
As he gains experience and starts to trust his weapons more, you'll see him start to even out his performances.

I still think he needs to do something with his upper body throwing motion... all the greats have more of an over-the-top delivery.

Fair enough. He needs to be able to throw the ball accurately when the world is falling in around him. I get that. But we constantly lose perspective on the fact that he is seven games into a new system, with a new HC, and a new OC, and a new set of offensive weapons. The offensive scheme has to become more ingrained before he is going to be able to settle down when the bodies are flying.mmmc_35 wrote:You know we talk about how accurate he is when his feet are set. Exactly. The game still needs to slow down for him and experience--which he's short on--matters.Bears Whiskey Nut wrote:Fair enough. I view that separately. If it was a timing, blocking, read, issue then sure it's a learning process. I would give adrenaline a bit of credit. Some of this is just huck it, chuck it football. He can improve, but not everything needs to be robotic. It can't be.

I've heard some discussions on the young QB's ... Mitch was referred to in a positive light for the most part but there was a mention of him being behind Mahomes in development
there is a very good reason for that
Mahomes had the luxury of being drafted into a pretty stable organization and being able to sit for a year behind a very solid veteran starter ... and Mahomes has given Alex Smith much praise for how much he helped him
Trubisky was not as fortunate, and sat behind a QB the Bears never should have acquired before being thrown into the mix himself in his rookie year
I am looking at 2018 as Trubisky's student graduation year to continue to learn and establish his base ... there should be a big step up for him in 2019 ... if he is still making the same repeated mistakes next season, then we will have cause for concern

I thought about creating a new thread for this, entitled Mitch the biggest swinging dick in the locker room. However this thread maybe more appropriate.
www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/bears-mitchell-trubisky-dresses-up-mike-ditka-halloween-costume-nfl-week-8-jets/aaei6ud71m7d1g4fhzef8eo92
Look I know I maybe one of the more pessimistic posters. I am not sold on Mitch by a long shot. Though I am very happy with some recent improvements. All that aside, this kid is a good dude, with more charisma then I thought, that I really want to succeed. He is easy to cheer for.
