Was just reading that on Twitter. Well that’s pretty much it for him this season. I’m really bummed for that dude. I wish more bear players had his heart. Dude is ride or die! Here’s to a full recovery.

Well if it's 6 weeks definitely be ready because will take him few weeks to get in shape I'd imagine. If 8 idk then.
Yeah, if it’s 8 the bears will probably shut him down. With his history I see it being longer than shorter though. I’m assuming Kush takes his spot in the mean time? If he’s playing well up until that point I don’t see the benefit in rushing Long back. Now if he’s playing like dog crap, and the bears have a playoff spot locked up, maybe they bring him back.

If you're the Bears, you IR him to bring him back in 8. You have to think ahead with the hope of playoffs and you never know what other injuries could happen. And if the playoffs are out as season's end approaches, then you let him shut it down and prep for next year.

#Bears HC Nagy on Kyle Long’s injury: “It’s his foot. For us right now he is in a boot. It’s a week to week thing. Don’t know the extent yet.” And said it was “a tendon” issue @cbschicago
This could have been way worse. Between Sims and Luvu that’s a combined 504lbs on that ankle. I think he got lucky on this one.

Per the Twitter, the Bears are still deciding on what to do with Long. They have until Saturday to decide if they want to IR him. He'd be eligible to return after 8 weeks, which is the estimated time of his injury anyway... so I imagine they will shut him down and free up a roster spot.
This will ramble a bit. Some players get hurt like Kyle. They get a label as being injury prone ( Kevin White, Alshon )....which isnt always fair. This injury to Kyle wasnt him being fragile this was him being rolled up on.
Here is hoping he comes back next year as hungry tough and ready to go as ever.
Long was lucky and unlucky on the same play ... unlucky in that he was injured, lucky in that the injury was not as serious as it looked like it could be
would be nice to have him available for the playoffs ... I see no need to push the issue though

hmmmmm ... maybe activate him as a blocking FB? him leading Howard should create some holes ... some may be through his own team mates

I would love to have Kyle back. He works his ass off, seems to have a great attitude and has been through a lot with the Bears. However, I've heard some fans talking about how it could open up running lanes. I'm sorry to say that those weren't exactly being opened when Kyle was healthy. In fact, the only impressive game with our run blocking was LA a couple of weeks ago.

...and for the first time in his career, he'd get to play in some legitimately meaningful games.

I would like to see Kyle play in some meaningful games as well. He has worked his ass off, and never had the opportunity to play a game in the postseason. Kyle has been through A LOT of shit years. He deserves it more than anyone else on the team right now.
Bears will huddle up tonight to decide on Kyle Long's status for Sunday in Minnesota. He put in a full week of practice this week, which portends well for this Sunday.
Unless there's some setback I'll be surprised if he doesn't get activated

I mean. Witzmann has done an admirable job, but he's no Kyle Long. Given the improvements that Daniels has made in the last 4-5 weeks, Long (if he's healthy) instantly makes that OL much, much better.
