What do you think we'll see?
While passer rating isn't a perfect metric by any means, I wanted something concrete that can't be wiggled out of.
Where will he rank for the (regular) season?
Last year's, for reference:

28th and 78
Besides the poll, make any other quantitative or qualitative predictions you like.

Between personal improvement, a better offensive scheme, and really good defensive support, I gave a jump of 10 spots.

I like the scheme. Sure, it takes time to learn fully but it's going to put Trubisky in a much better situation than last year!
I want to see Trubisky take fewer sacks from holding onto the ball too long and with the game slowing down a little for him expect that. I also want to see him take more chances without the interceptions going up. He was 12th in interception percentage last year but that was with the most ridiculously concentrative play calling (and a terrible set of receivers). Can he raise his TD% to 4 or above without the INT% going up? I think so, but that's going to be the crux. 4.5:1.8 TD%:INT% and I'm a happy bunny.

I think that Nagy’s scheme is perfect for Mitch’s skill set. Nagy is also going to put him in positions to succeed. Lots of short to medium throws. Here’s my guess;
315/470 3350 yds. 24 td’s 14 Int’s he’ll rank 17th. Bears will go 9-7 and miss the playoffs. Bears offense will rank 16th.
Bears defense will end the season ranked 3rd in yds allowed.

Middle of the pack offence along with top 5 D and we only go 9-7?Bears Whiskey Nut wrote:I think that Nagy’s scheme is perfect for Mitch’s skill set. Nagy is also going to put him in positions to succeed. Lots of short to medium throws. Here’s my guess;

I think (and really, really hope!) Trubisky is going to surprise a lot of people this year.
For me the question posed in this thread is more about what ratings other QBs end up with rather than Mitch, because I expcect his to jump up a lot from last season and there won't be much between him and a lot of other guys in the top half of the league.
Where he and they land in the list will depend on just a couple of points and decimal places. There's never a huge difference in passer ratings from one placing to the next. Amongst regular starters last year, those with at least 100 attempts, Smith was 1st with 104.7, five places below him was Goff with 100.5, five places below him was Rivers with 96.0 and five places below him in 16th place was Winston with 92.2. So there were just 12.5 points separating 1st and 16th.
Watson finished 3rd as a rookie, and Wentz was 5th and Goff 6th in their second years. If they can do it then it's not inconceivable that Trubisky could put up those sorts of numbers with the quality of coaching and playing talent around him now, so I'll stick my neck out a little and be the first to predict he'll finish in the top 10. Hey it's the first game tomorrow and if it all goes pear-shaped then this may be my last chance to be optimistic for a while!

We’ll lose one to the Packers, two to Minnesota, NE, LA, and two more random games.malk wrote:Middle of the pack offence along with top 5 D and we only go 9-7?Bears Whiskey Nut wrote:I think that Nagy’s scheme is perfect for Mitch’s skill set. Actually as far as Trubisky goes, I was right on the nuts (for the most part). His final line was;Bears Whiskey Nut wrote:I think that Nagy’s scheme is perfect for Mitch’s skill set. Nagy is also going to put him in positions to succeed. Lots of short to medium throws. Here’s my guess;

289/434 3223 24TD's and 12 Int's. He ended up ranked 16th.

After guessing 9-7, at least I got something right.
Mikefive's theory: The only time you KNOW that a sports team player, coach or management member is being 100% honest is when they're NOT reciting "the company line".
