NFL.com are confident enough to run with it too:

Vic Fangio is finally getting his shot.

The Denver Broncos are expected to hire the longtime defensive coordinator as their head coach, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reports. Fangio is getting a four-year deal with a fifth-year option, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported.

Fangio has spent the previous four seasons with the Chicago Bears, which boasted the NFL's top defense in 2018.

Around The NFL will have more on this story shortly.

Yep. He gone.

I'm happy he got his shot, but he's basically cool with being a puppet. That should end well.

Sold out for his dream... my guess is he said "you have zero say on my defense" but can do whatever the hell you want on offense.

Congrats to Vic. He pursued his dream and got it. Not thinking it will work out well, so me thinking that means he will be a fucking success.

At least now we can talk DCs.

He will probably remain in Cleveland. Co-worker stated she heard Cleveland hiring Kitchens.

Pace was around for Bountygate so I highly doubt it. Plus the dude is a narcissistic prick.

Denver reached agreement with Bears’ DC Vic Fangio to become the Broncos’ next head coach, sources tell me and @DanGrazianoESPN. It will be a four-year deal plus a team option for a fifth, per source.

In all likelihood. Gotta be happy for him achieving his dream. But be careful what you wish for, Vic.

It'll also be interesting to see how Nagy handles losing his first big time coordinator. I suspect Ragone and Helfrich will be hot names in a season or two as well.

Just heard that on the SCORE. To me that says that Bowles WAS waiting to see what happens with Fangio, and that him and Nagy have been talking extensively.

Should be an interesting day.

Was just about to post this. He’d be crazy not to take this job.

As a Denver resident and also a Bronco Fan (except when playing Chicago) I can't be too disappointed with this. It seemed pretty obvious to me that when Elway said Gary Kubiak would become involved in coaching again probably as OC that Elway would look for a defensive minded HC somewhat replicating what he did when he hired Fox with Mike McCoy as OC.

For a replacement Ed Donatell may be the best choice as far as maintaining status quo but he may follow Fangio as he has in the past. So I'm gonna suggest Todd Bowles as DC and Steve Wilks to replace Donatell as DC coach. Wilks coached in Chicago before under Lovie I believe. That's for starters because we don't know how many others may depart.

Donatell is out of contract, so there is about a 100% chance that he was part of the defensive staff that Vic pitched to Elway. He's also the only one out of contract, so the Bears would have to allow Vic to poach them. I don't see that happening.

Donatell has done a pretty good job with the secondary this season (previous seasons are debatable) but Bowles > Donatell.

The Price of Success
Losing coaches to vertical move. Fangio at 61 has this as perhaps his last chance at HC.. There are others that would really like working with this D..
Should be interesting..
Bowles would be excellent IF available..
