Who handled long-snapping duties for the 85 Bears?

...does anyone know? I have been trying to do some research, but I haven't see anyone on the roster of the 85 Bears listed as a long-snapper/LS. Did Hilgenberg handle the long-snapping duties on punts and field goals, or did someone else handle the long-snapping duties on the 85 Bears? If any old-school Bears fans on the board know, I would appreciate it. I am just curious. Thanks.

I'm disappointed that I have no personal recollection, but what I can find says it was Jay.

Don't know. I was adult then and followed the team closely and don't remember anyone termed a long-snapper. I can only find one guy beside Hilgenberg who could have been. Tom Andrews played in 14 games but never started (Hilgenberg started all 16). Andrews is listed as T/C (rather unusual as most backup Cs are G/C or C/G) and he's built like Mannelly, not like a regular center.

k....thanks for the responses guys. I just watched some old footage, and it appears that Hilgenberg did indeed handle the long-snapping duties for the '85 Bears. I assume it was common back then to just have the C handle the long-snapping duties. Having someone specially designated as a "long-snapper" seems to be more of a modern trend.

Mark Rodenhauser, 87 scab Bear C, started being a long snapper only in 88. He had a pretty decent career doing for a # of years. He was an IL State U grad. I lived in the same dorm as him in 83 for a semester.

They had to kick extra points though, right? Didn't go for 2 every time?

I received the book "Monsters: The 85 Bears and the Wild Heart of Football" for Christmas- there's been no mention of a long snapper yet! If it mentions anything in there I'll feedback. Unfortunately my older sister wasn't even born at that point :p

yeah, that was the game I went back and watched, and noticed that he was the LS on the punts and fgs, so I am assuming that he was the LS all season long.
