To be fair, throw out his worst statistical performance along with the Bucs game....and his performance this year would still have been mediocre to slightly above average at best. Next year, I would expect a HUGE JUMP in performance, but I am not holding my breath, and less need for incessant excuses for him, but I am not holding my breath.
That's kind of like saying if he threw 10 less TD passes his touchdown to interception ratio would have been worse.

I'm looking for big strides next year with the offense in general. It wasn't just Trubiskys first year in it, it was everyone's first year in it. Mahomes and Watson both stepped into seasoned offenses. I can't wait to see how they perform.

Mikefive's theory: The only time you KNOW that a sports team player, coach or management member is being 100% honest is when they're NOT reciting "the company line".

Go back to leather helmets, NFL.

Forget the damn stats. He got better and better as every week went on. Though I still believe in the first read not there RUN. But he will get better at finding his second and then third reads. That comes with time.

The Future looks very bright with him at the helm.

I still believe we need to find a way to get better at pounding the ball (or to make a more conscientious effort to pound the ball) to take some pressure off of him.

I'd say there's an excellent chance given that one of Brees or Goff will have to pull out of it.

I would rather not have him in that game. It is a worthless game and he could get injured. Stupid exhibition that they should do away with.

It's a worthless and pointless memory, but I still remember Favre's first Pro Bowl game and being in awe and thinking man I can't wait for this to be a young Bears QB.

Has yet to happen...

Wilson is already replacing Rodgers. The only other alternate besides Trubisky is Matt Ryan. There is a chance Trubisky will get to play in the game if Brees/Goff opt out.

I still want to see it, personally.

When's the last time somebody got truly injured in that game? Where it affected their following season? That game is two hand touch nowadays. If you think QB's are protected during the regular season... go watch that game. Yeesh

This is basically a "when" instead of an "if" as well. One is guaranteed to make it and there is zero chance that QB is playing. Hell, the loser could opt out too. Suddenly you get Trubisky and Matt Ryan.

Since Turbisky is still gaining valuable experience/growth reps, I like him getting a chance to play. He will be without Nagy, and will have a chance to take what he has learned this season and put it together without his coach there to continue coaching him on the sideline, or the comfort of players he is familiar with. It could be a fine learning/synthesis moment.

I agree MountainBear..
Also.. this would be the only situation that would cause me to watch the game.

Three equally unrealistic reasons I would even entertain watching the pro bowl:

1. Hell froze over
2. Pigs can fly
3. A Chicago Bears QB may play in it

Regardless, I'm just glad the kid will be around elite talent and can pick the brains of these players (QBs in particular).

Trubs in it would still not make me want to watch it. IMO it is an awful display of football.

Remember the Patriot RB ended his career playing on the beach a day or two prior to the game, freaky things happen.

If something that freaky is going to happen? It's going to happen. By that logic, guys shouldn't go through off-season workouts either since Hunter Henry tore his ACL. In reality, Trubs has a 10x better chance of getting hurt in pre-season and a 20x better chance of getting hurt in regular season. If you don't want him to play in the pro bowl - you might as well not have him do agility drills or make any kind of hard cuts in the off-season.

Long read, and not crazy in depth. But it shows that players in Reid systems typically make huge jumps in production in their second year in the system...
