The #Bears are expected to release TE Dion Sims, source says. The two-way tight end was due $6M in 2019, a cap casualty. This early release before the league year should help him.

Not sure what he ever did with the Dolphins to get the contract he did, but Simms most definitely did not earn his money here. His production can easily be replaced by an UDFA, plenty of big bodied blocking guys don't get drafted every year. Seems he had way more big drops than catches with the Bears.

Was there ever a more obvious cut than Dion Sims? Not shocking at all - we were all waiting for the official word but knew in the back of our minds he was gone.

3rd worst Pace signing gone. Only Parkey left now.
"I wouldn't take him for a conditional 7th. His next contract will pay him more than he could possibly contribute.".

Or to put it another way: "Bears figure out Dion Sims sucks 2 years later than anyone else who's ever watched football"

I'd really like to know what they were thinking when they paid him that $4M bonus last March. Really. A number of us were furious, including me. They had to have some logic. Did Nagy and Helfrich think they could make lemonade out of that guy?
Mikefive's theory: The only time you KNOW that a sports team player, coach or management member is being 100% honest is when they're NOT reciting "the company line".

I didn't hate the signing when it happened because I think a lot of folks in the league thought he was an potentially ascending player based on the flashes he'd shown in Miami filling in for the perpetually injured Jordan Cameron.
But he wasn't.
