Mike Davis had 146 touches last season in Seattle. Who gets the remaining 130 touches remains to be seen.

Moreover, the Bears still have Tarik Cohen, who's their most electrifying player. I think that's why I don't see the sky falling.

I dont know why Mike Davis cant possibly be the bell cow. He's shown some iimpressive flashes, he's got low mileage, and if there's any one position in the NFL where a rando can come in and dominate, it's RB. Jordan Howard was a freaking fifth rounder, it's not like he was a top ten pick, and we did fine.

Not the first time I've heard that! :D

But I challenge anyone to point out which NFL teams have a worse RB situation than the Chicago Bears today. Nobody has even taken a swing at that question, other than pointing to last year. I wonder why not?
I had it all typed out in an earlier post but didn't think it mattered to you since you have your mind made up about all of this. But what the heck... I'll indulge you.

Worse than the Bears:
Oakland
Tampa Bay
Detroit
Green Bay
Baltimore
Minnesota
Atlanta

Equal to the Bears (pre draft):
Buffalo (although their two backs are a combined 65 years old)
Miami
Washington (this one is close, Guice hasn't had a carry, Peterson is 34, and Chris Thompson is hurt)
Arizona (Johnson wasn't playing well before he got hurt...but they have the potential to be better than the Bears)
Tennessee (Derrick Henry didn't have more than 60 yards in a game until week 13)
Chiefs (Losing Hunt hurts...Williams played well in relief though)
San Francisco
Eagles
Denver
Jacksonville
Indianapolis
Houston
Pittsburgh (Maybe)

Better than the Bears
Seattle
Carolina
Saints (assuming Latavius Murray is an upgrade or at least equal to Ingram)
LA Rams (but Gurley has been hurt and they no longer have Anderson)
Cleveland (assuming they keep Johnson and Hunt plays at some point)
Cincinnati
New England (because the Pats have the RB by committee thing nailed)
New York Jets (with an asterisk because Bell hasn't played in a year)
San Diego
Cowboys
New York Giants (the depth behind Barkley is non-existent though)

Again, these are fairly subjective. Stats can't be used exclusively. A lot of the backs that have moved teams have shared the load, and a lot of this is based on potential. Also, a lot of the teams listed as better than the Bears, have zero depth behind their star RB.

Yep...

Just as can be found in the lesser social media platforms = Loving a player/team drastically effects IQ.

1) We all love Jordan Howard.
2) Pace can/has/will continue to find RB's that Bears fans love (in the mid-late rounds).
3) Change is often difficult.
4) Humans have 2 speeds; 1 self loathing & 2 God complex.

Everyone's had 2 years to prepare for this separation anxiety.

Time to suck it up & realize these facts.

For two years in Seattle he was hampered by nagging injuries that limited his carries, he couldn’t win the job when the door was wide open for him to do so. I know the stats say he played in X amount of games, however, they weren’t meaniful carries. I’m hoping that’s past him because you’re 100 correct, he does show flashes of good potential but I have my doubts. I’m more leaning on Davis is insurance if Pace misses his go to back via the draft.

I don't think it's exactly fair to say the door was wide open. I mean, the 27th overall pick is sitting right there, and everybody knows he's going to be the guy.

No, I am not about to make any bold predictions about Mike Davis. I am going to tell you this story.
the Bears were just finishing up having prison sex with the Tampa Bay buccaneers. My neighbor, who had asked me earlier if I wanted to go to the Cardinals game, came over and asked me one more time. I had originally said no because I had just been at the stadium for the week before when the Bears were in town, and there's only so many $10 blue moons you can afford in a week.
however, I was feeling pretty good, and after the day that Mitch just had I was really wanting to wear his jersey out in public.

I watched Mike Davis have one hell of a game. And, say what you want about the 2018 Cardinals, their defense was no pushover.
again, I'm not making any bold predictions, but I don't have any problems if this guy winds up being the lead back.

I loved Jordan Howard the day we drafted him, and I will always cheer for him.
but I'm not going to call this move a mistake until it actually proves to be.

Somewhere, i cannot find it, there was a comment by someone saying his son played college football as a rb and said the same thing, Howard doesn't understand how to run in an inside zone RPO.

At the end of the day, just about everyone on the O excelled under Nagy, except Howard. Is the problem Nagy, or Howard if that's the case? We will get a shot to find out this season.

I believe Funkster said that, wab was commenting on Howard's RPO issues during the season as well.

I liked Howard but to me the writing was on the wall as soon as Nagy got here.

I was a big fan of Howards, and I really think moving to another team was best for him going into a contract year. Now i'm interested in who they draft to fill out this roster.

Jordan Howard may not even be the starter for his new team.... Eagles are spending an awful lot of time with Josh Jacobs.

Pederson isn't afraid to let his O line dominate at the tune of 4 YPC if the defense is soft and not sold out to stop the run. Howard could get 120+ in maybe 5-6 games this year and maybe 60ish in the rest for a cool 1200ish.

I agree, especially if they go back to 2017 tendencies in their offense.

Pretty hard to believe that after what..16 pages? of fairly reasonable Jordan Howard dialog some of us still can't wrap our minds around it.

Naturally...everyone's free to have their own private take/opinion on this trade & how it may effect the teams involved- Just please, try to remember that not all opinions are equal.
If you continue to find that your opinion disagrees with history, logic & facts... don't be surprised or upset if the occasional human invites you out to the toolshed.

lmao thats funny, and true.

At first I was outraged. Not at the fact that he was traded because it was obvious he didnt fit and they didnt want to change to make him fit. That philosophy makes me think of the Rams. They try to run almost all their plays out of the same type of formation no matter the personnel and it seems to work for them. I think Nagy doesnt want people guessing " run" because of which back is in. Let them all have the ability to do almost anything and make it harder for the defense.

My initial outrage was the return. Some of the will ease if whatever variable is in this trade that makes this a 5th round pick instead of a 4th. Then after reading a lot i realize i dont know dick about trade values lmao.

No woodshed for me!

well if you prefer a 5th round pick over a 4th, then your underlined statement is certainly true :-P

"History, logic & facts".

History... Howard was the 2nd leading rusher in the NFL one year. What have any of the guys we've brought in done to compete with that? And what non-cherry picked history of 3rd round picks suggests that were going to get a clearly better option? You lose on that measure.

Logic... Howard doesn't fit what Nagy wants to do. Howard made us more predictable. And sure, we'll probably be engaging in more short passes to replace runs. You win that one.

Facts... See answer to history. There are no facts you can bring to bear that say that our new options will be any better than the career backups they've been. One more for me.

While many--including me--didn't like trading Howard, dwelling on that is missing the point. The key question is... What did we replace him with?
- A WR failure, good KR guy who is too tall for a RB
- A career backup who nobody rational looked at as ready to "break out"
- More carries for 180# Cohen banging around with the big boys means more chance he gets hurt.
- It's all about the HOPE for a 3rd round pick that works out well

I don't think that's a persuasive argument. If that's woodshed worthy, whatever.

Mike...

It's all been gone over, many times.

As far as "toolshed worthy"... I figured it would be someone's patience you or someone else would be testing by trying to pretend any longer that this is still a viable debate.

But...since you decided to draw my straw for me...sure, why not.
I'll play along.

Mike, what you're completely failing to understand is, for those of us who DO understand & just so happen to agree with our Coach & GM of the year...WE don't need to answer any of your "what if" scenarios.

The burden of proof of a non-meatball argument is on you.

YOU need to come up with the NFL breaking news...
Here's why Nagy & Pace fucked it all up proof.
No one here needs to do the work for you.

You don't completely get the plan...you're nervous.
Ok, we get that.

But don't let all that anxiety turn your brain to shit dude.

You've been pressing & pressing to try like hell to NOT lose the point of your debate.
Instead of eating crow or simple fading into the bushes..
You doubled down.

The history, logic & facts are...

* History= shows that Coach Nagy is running a pass heavy KC style offense. Which is NOT Howard's strength.
* Logic= Howard was a bad fit in our new offense & should be traded.
* Fact= Jordan Howard was a bad fit & was traded.

* History= Howard WAS the 2nd leading rusher for an OLD unimaginative offense, where Howard was the majority of the Bears offense.
* Logic= Howard was NOT the 2nd leading rusher when he NEEDED to be, in the new offense the Bears will be running for the next 5+ years. Howard's running style is no longer valuable to the Bears.
* Fact= Apparently Howard's straight ahead running style wasn't very valuable to any team.
6th/5th rounder in few years was the very best offer.

* History= The Bears no longer are a win the game with defense & a strong running game ...try to keep it close formula.*
* It IS Logical that he was traded & that pretty much all of us were kinda bummed about it...we really liked him.
* Fact= You're not 1 of the professionals calling the shots for the Bears team...so what you Think the Bears "should've" done literally means shit.

The team clearly knows what they're doing... as the history proves that they've completely dismantled & rebuilt this team back into a winner.

That all being said..if you're genuinely interested in starting a new thread, where people might want to place their bets as to how all these offense pieces are going to work together without a Jordan Howard...by all means.
Just try to keep the driving fast & loose with the facts down to a minimum pls.
