David Kaplan reports the Bears don't have interest but who the hell knows...
If the Bears say they have interest, it weakens any negotiating position they have.

it might even technically be tampering if the bears say they have interest?

Yeah, I think that's what annoyed me about a lot of Parkey's kicks from 45 and in most. Especially the one that ended our season. He tried to baby it through the uprights. There was no wind... aim it down the middle and kick the f'ing thing. You watch the best in the game - from 40-45 their kicks are ROCKETING through the uprights.

Eddie Pinero's kicks on video are jaw dropping. I hope he can translate them to the NFL and be our guy. it would be nice to have a kicker that "can" nail it from 55-60 if needed.

Good, the Gould drama is over. He re-signs with 9ers. This can be put to bed.

Hub Arkush said Piniero's leg is outstanding, kid was banging 60 yard field goals with ease. He thinks he will win our competition for what it's worth.

Also, sounds like we are tweaking some mechanics for these guys and that may explain some of the misses... Pace said it's like tweaking a golf swing.

I keep hearing similar stories on radio. Piniero definitely has a strong leg, but his accuracy is inconsistent. Fry is pretty accurate, but has a weak leg and from time to time will miss hit kicks in the high 40's, leaving them short.

I want the kid with the cannon for a leg.

I do too but I want him to learn how to kick accurately with that power. Not every kick needs to be 110%.

He wasn't inaccurate in college: 38/43 = 88.4%

If he's fully recovered, it seems obvious to me.

Also, coach says they’re going to alternate kickers each day.

Sounds like Piniero mis-hit his 55 yarder but then made his 60 yarder with a couple feet to spare.

I think he's learning how to find that happy medium of leg strength and accurate delivery.

Remember, we want someone who is going to be fucking consistent and reliable up to 40, 45 yards. Anything after that, if you can get it consistently, is gravy IMO.

Aside from 7th receiver and maybe 4th tight end, this is probably our biggest camp battle.

I'm waiting to see if Vedvik ends up on the trade block. I think he's going to be a solid NFL kicker for some team.

Huh. Gotta get used to this again. I used to use an app but the forum doesn’t show up anymore so I’m using the web browser on my phone. It’s all so different.

that could be a very real possibility
Kaare Vedvik is the stud Norwegian kicker the Ravens are looking to trade

https://nypost.com/2019/08/09/kaare-ved ... -to-trade/

Ravens backup kicker Kaare Vedvik is familiar with using preseason games as an opportunity to showcase what he’s worth.

The undrafted 25-year-old went 4 for 4 on field goals in Thursday night’s preseason opener against the Jaguars, with a long of 55 yards. He added two punts, one of which went 58 yards and the other 53 yards, in the 29-0 win.

The Ravens are in a familiar spot. They were plotting to trade or release the Norwegian after last preseason when he sustained a head injury while getting assaulted in Baltimore.

The Ravens already have special-teams aces in star kicker Justin Tucker and punter Sam Koch. However, if Vedvik continues his strong play, the Ravens could snag a higher draft pick.

“I don’t really ever think about that,” Vedvik said when asked about the possibility of another team acquiring him. “I’m focused on playing the game. That’s it. Teams that are interested, they talk to coach, the head honcho. I’m just going to play the game.”

The Jets could inquire about Vedvik after Chandler Catanzaro missed two extra points in their first preseason game on Thursday, but no one needs Vedvik’s services more than the Bears.

looks like he can kick and punt ... plus he is Norwegian, so I doubt Chicago winters will affect him

so if the Bears did get him, perhaps they could get a trade pick back by trading O'Donnell, though not sure what kind of market there is for punters ... they seem relatively disposable for the most part

Think missed opportunity there following Pineiro 48y miss. why not Pineiro with next 43y try ? Another miss and Pineiro gone. Fry next 3 games to get the job.

I’m officially on the bandwagon of whoever is more accurate. Accurate and big leg is the dream, but I’d rather know I need 5 more yards and feel good that it’s going in than Russian roulette out to 60.

Because Chris Tabor might be an idiot.

I love how he gets zero shit from the media for playing a huge role in us signing Parkey last year.

IF the Bears are going to trade for a kicker, whether that is Vedvik or someone else who is standing out at another training camp/pre-season, they better do it in the next week to ten days. Why keep plodding along with Fry and Pineiro if we aren’t 100% sold on them. Get someone we like in and give them a week or two to get comfortable on the team.
