Have no fear! A 6'7" once mediocre OL, turned TE is going to be a force. Sowell will be a blocking TE, who is almost impossible to cover in the red zone. Help is coming!thunderspirit wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2019 9:53 amAdam Shaheen appears to be turning into the tight end position's version of Kevin White.G08 wrote:

Someone scour the waiver wire already, or Dax Raymond you'd better get up to task fast.

Javon Wims is sitting right there. Let’s try it out.G08 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2019 9:28 amJesus fucking Christ!UOK wrote:

Adam Shaheen is leaving the practice field with a trainer, walking gingerly. Could’ve tweaked something in his back #BearsCamp #Bears

From everything I’ve been reading, Trubisky has been really sharp the last two days. Apparently he’s been good all camp on throws with some zip on them, but he’s struggled with touch passes. All the reports are saying he’s been way better the past couple days on those.

Something to consider is that the defense begins to learn the plays pretty quickly and it's very difficult to resist cheating on the routes once you know what the offense is going to run. Apparently that's played into a lot of Trubisky's problems, but it's also been a tremendous way to think on his feet and beat a very good defense.

Nagy also noted in one of his interviews I listened to on Tune In that sometimes they are asking QB's to force throws and certain looks against a defensive look they never would do such things against.
I look at it two fold.
Defense will ALWAYS be ahead of the offense in preseason and even early in the regular season. Offense has the develop that sense of timing to make things work while defense is a matter of reading and reacting but on a more individual basis.
Also, our defense is damn good. Even with the player / coaching losses. I expect them to make our #1 O look stupid. And I am also hopeful this will make Biscuit better as he is practicing against higher quality competition and needs to be spot on and laser sharp to succeed...our defense won't let him play sloppy and look good.

Mikefive's theory: The only time you KNOW that a sports team player, coach or management member is being 100% honest is when they're NOT reciting "the company line".

The Bears recently updated all their players' measurements. Almost everybody (including Trubisky) got an inch shorter than they were a week ago, a couple 2" shorter, a few stayed the same, but nobody got taller. I don't know if they used a different ruler, had the players remove their shoes, or are just being more honest. Most players also gained a pound or two, but some also lost weight. Some weight changes were significant. Only 4 players remained exactly the same, and none of them were on the team last year.
The ten most significant changes from last year in terms of roundness (a measure combining height and weight that scales properly):
ROUNDER
+7.6% Josh Woods
+6.9% Sherrick McManis
+6.0% Bilal Nichols
+5.5% Javon Wims
+5.0% Akiem Hicks
+4.7% Aaron Lynch
+4.2% Allen Robinson
+4.0% Michael Joseph
NARROWER
-4.0% Bradley Sowell
-6.4% Tyler Bray
I'm a little troubled by Hicks' 22# weight gain and I wonder if Bray is healthy.

A heavier Kyle long is troubling. His body is already in decline. Carrying 30lbs more than he did when he came into the NFL can't be good for him.

Hicks has to be typo... right? Wims is up to 220+ so my dream of him moving to TE still has life!

Probably just to give something for people to talk and fret over. I never believe any of the heights or weights on a football or basketball roster.

Do we know anything yet from Pagano's scheme or what we've seen in open practices is too vanilla to draw a conclusion?

I'm curious to see how exciting he gets when the games count.

I'm specifically curious about how much we'll have our dbs in man to facilitate his blitzing. If Fuller and Jackson have their backs to the QB we're gonna see the decline in INTs that basically every football analytics guy is citing for the Bears Defense Will Regress narrative that is dominating the national discussion. (They also all hate Mitch but I'm worried by that lazy take)
