Apparently he hurt his knee weight lifting.

Really??

What the actual fuck? Why is our kicker doing squats in the middle of the season? Where were the strength coaches? Why are they allowing him to lift enough to hurt himself?

The one time I'm actually grateful that the Bears play on MNF.

Maybe it is part of his weekly workout routine, the reason he can kick 50+ yarders?

Hurting a knee during squatting is either a function of poor form where you don't push your knees out far enough or too much weight. Either one is something that a strength coach should've seen during Dinero's training.

this is just such a Bearsy thing to happen ... go through a circus in training camp to find a kicker ... select one who actually turns out to be pretty good so far ... then, boom

was this the same leg he hurt in training camp last year, resulting him being on IR all of 2018?

How do you know he was squatting?

I'm a trainer and have watched/helped people squat for years. A knee injury from squatting is very rare. You're far more likely to hurt your back or strain a leg muscle from not warming up properly.

Well, clearly he is fine. Or else someone would have been brought in.

This is a big nothing.

I don't know that. I'm going off the other post.

Just using logic one would hope that when the KICKER is working out his LEG that somebody would be paying attention to that. And if he wasn't warming up properly where the hell was the coach?

I hate to get overly concerned about the kicker but obviously a thing has developed now where we've got an 80/20 rule about the position. Might as well put Dinero in bubble wrap and give him a Pope Mobile to ride around in at Halas Hall for all I care.

Well, the 3pm deadline came and went.
Kind of surprised, but they're standing pat.
Do expect that they'll pass on FGs and go for 2 more than usual, though.

I think we are legitimately the only people worried about this. lol

It REALLY sounds like he is fine.

They can always bring in Frye for a game or 2 if needed. The fact that they didn't do anything makes me think it's a non-issue.

I thought this kid was a fucking stud last night. Toughed it out for us -- you could see him limping and hardly being able to put pressure on his kicking leg after his follow through -- and make some important kicks. Just missed that 44 yarder wide right -- forgivable.

He pinched a nerve. You can do that shit sneezing too hard. He was ice cold again last night.

I'm glad his issue is not a serious one, but I have to admit I cringed on every one of his kicks as I watched his hop and limp follow through

This right here.
Mikefive's theory: The only time you KNOW that a sports team player, coach or management member is being 100% honest is when they're NOT reciting "the company line".

Go back to leather helmets, NFL.

That FG miss was totally forgivable. Guy was clearly playing through major pain, but still got it done. Kudos to O'Donnell for handling kickoffs.

Yep 100%. He’s a warrior. It was a good game for him to miss one. Not worried.

I’m already having this fantasy in my head about the Raider game. It’s close the whole time until Mack does a strip sack in Raider territory and we recover. With like 3 seconds left. Out comes Dinero and he kicks the winner between the uprights and right up Chucky’s ass. Thanks for the players asshole!
