Well, I guess that experiment is over. Burton is still nursing a strained vagina, and the new guys doesn't know the offense. WTF are we doing at TE? Why aren't they promoting Jesper Horsted from Princeton? I mean JFC!

Wow, that really sucks. He went through all that work to get down in weight and it was apparently for nothing. Given his age, I wonder if he really has a chance playing TE for any other team.

Look if we promote Jesper, and play Braunacker. We would have an all-Ivy League TE squad. That counts for something? Right?

Part of sports, it is a business. They basically put it out there, you suck at OT, lose some weight and you could POSSIBLY be a TE. I don't see it as a dick move at all.

I'm with you on this one.

Last week Larsen was coming in as the 3rd TE in place of Sowell. Thought the writing was on the wall then.
Sounds like Massie getting vertigo was literally a last minute thing, so they didn't make this move knowing he'd be out.
Holtz was playing some FB -- makes sense based on wanting to get Montgomery some help/push in the running game.

I think this is a combination of a few things:
1 - BB has been playing the Burton role while he's....whatever.
2 - Shaheen has kind of been playing the Sowell role while BB is playing the Burton role
3 - Holtz had to play the h-back / hybrid guy role that BB usually fills.
So basically Burton being out and/or limited has screwed everything up. The Bears needing another DL because Nichols is out didn't help Sowell. It sucks, but realistically he was gonna be the first dude to go if the Bears needed a roster spot.
I do think we will see him on the roster again.

The thing about Sowell is... Who's going to pick him up? He's a former OT, who just lost a bunch of weight to be a blocking TE and he's not very good at it. He's the perfect guy to cut because you know you'll be able to get him back if you want.

maybe he shouldn't have lost the weight?
when they brought him in as a tackle playing TE, I thought he did a pretty good job ... the fact he could make a catch or 2 was just a bonus, but not the primary reason for his appearance

Well, the thing was that he struggled to keep weight on as it was. He was listed at like 315 last season, but Nagy said he played closer to 280. And as you said, he was a decent extra TE, so why not make him one full time.

I hope Whyte clears waivers. He's a solid developmental RB.

Bringing him back surprises me and cutting Whyte surprises me.
We really need those 6 ILBs that badly, huh?

Color me surprised at both moves.

Definitely surprised Whyte got waived, but Patterson takes whatever snaps he'd potentially get on game day. Hopefully he makes it to the PS.
The LB thing confuses me as well. Have Woods and Pierre-Louis even been active?
With as thin as the Bears are right now at WR and DL, why in the hell do the Bears have 11 roster spots tied up at ILB and TE??

Wait... Wasn't predictability why we had to get rid of Jordan Howard (who we couldn't use in the pass game, but caught a TD pass yesterday)?
Nevermind.

Well there is that...
It would take a generational talent to succeed running inside with the interior line we have right now. I think they're just adapting to that and the cost is telegraphing what we're gonna do in short yardage.

I know you're not really comparing Jordan Howard's skillet in the passing game to David Montgomery... are you?

No. But is this where I make a joke about Howard making a mean omlette?
