Update: Danny Trevathan to IR

If anyone saw the replay of Trevathan's elbow grotesquely bending the opposite way elbows are supposed to bend, you know as well as I do that he is, medically speaking, fucked.

Yeah. That one was kinda gross on the replay.

Not sure if that's good or bad for re-signing prospects.

Doesn't Kwiat have a year left on his rookie deal? If so, we'll be fine.

Let’s hope it wasn’t his last game as a Bear.

Kwit had a monster game. Just awesome.

He had a monster game today, and a couple of REALLY good games when Smith was out. I like the kid a lot. I'd be fine letting Trevethan walk, and keeping Kwit.

My sister is an orthopedic surgeon and watches the Bears. She says it obviously could be "fucked" but that she sees a lot that merely wind-up sprains and that IR isn't a sure thing.

Kwiat played two good games (one being today) against a QB in Driskel who was hopeless most of the game and against Kirk with our pass rush just ravaging him.

In the past, Kwiat plays strong against the run and gets burned badly against the pass. It would not surprise me to see him come back to Earth next week and we miss Trevathan.

That sucks for Danny. Well, there goes the problem of finding a way to get 44 on the field. The defense is noticeably better with him in there.

I'm worried with everyone so high on Kwit that they don't realize that he was subbed in at the last second(s) when he's played. If a team can gameplan for him all they gotta do is look for the matchup with him in coverage and he's gonna give up a lot of yards.

Nope.

It was a good performance, but I'm not ready to erase the memory of the old, bad ones quite yet.
If he gets a few starts out of this and still looks the same, I'll buy in.

Whispers on the social medias that they feared in the locker room yesterday that it's a broken arm/torn ligaments. Nothing concrete yet.

A Bears PS member tweeted that his arm was broken, but anyone with two eyes could tell you that.

That was true in the past. I think that the speed of Smith helps to make up for some of Kwit's flaws. If he can be used as a hammer, and not a scalpel, he will continue to be awesome. Cause that dude is a hammer.

Honestly thought that Driskel’s play wasn’t terrible. A lot of his hard- thrown passes were dropped by WR’s.

They had 6 points until 7 minutes left when he threw a pass to himself and had a prayer answered with Kyle Fuller falling down on the next play. It had been a while since they had a first down even, I do believe.

He had a lot of misfires that helped us out.

There's worse backups. This D has also been tough on QB's. But he is worse than every QB we will see from here on out. That probably includes Daniel Jones.

Bears could announce it on Saturday, but who knows. It feels like it's all but accepted he's done.

Okay, thanks.

Looking forward to seeing what Kwit can do anyway. Not that Trevathan hasn't meant a lot to this team.

The Bears have like eleventeen ILBs, so they don't have to make a move any time soon. Although by putting him on IR, they won't have to release Sowell tomorrow.

I agree, considering he played against a pretty good defense.

They're waiting until the last minute, so the Bolts won't know if they have to prepare for Brad Sowell, James Vaughters, or BOTH!

Trevathan is listed as "week to week," which is fucking astounding.

I know some people like to make sarcastic remarks along the lines of "They're making millions to play a game. I would do it for half that." whenever a player has the "audacity" to complain about something. It's situations like this where these people really need to ask themselves if they still would say that. Here you have a guy who suffers a grotesque injury and his bosses are still holding out hope that he can get back on the field in a season that is pretty much over.

I'm sure watching White Nick step in and play so well might make him want to try and come back ASAP.

Hyperextension does not automatically = Horrible injury

My sister is an orthopedic surgeon. I'm a trainer. You would be very surprised at the things that happen.

I can't sit here and say what Trevathan's prognosis is. I don't have the slightest clue. However, I can sit here and say that it's totally plausible that he's just dealing with a sprain.

Think about all of the times you have seen a knee get rolled up on and hyper-extend. Then you hear it's just a 2-4 week sprain of the MCL. The elbow is no different. It's just more rare to see in football. That's all.

Trevathan could be returning at a time when he is desperately needed. Kwit/Trevathan sure seemed like an effective combination vs Minnesota. This would calm a lot of my fears about losing Roquan.
